Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) logs a second week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Nov. 18), following its blockbuster debut. In the week ending Nov. 9, the set earned 245,000 equivalent album units (down 85%) in the U.S., according to Luminate. The re-recorded effort charged in at No. 1 with 1.653 million units a week ago — marking the largest week for any album in nearly a decade.

Also in the top 10 of the new Billboard 200, Jung Kook’s debut album, Golden, bows at No. 2, while the late Jimmy Buffett’s new studio album, Equal Strain on All Parts, starts at No. 6.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Nov. 18, 2023-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Nov. 14. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.

Of 1989 (Taylor’s Version)’s 245,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 9, album sales comprise 122,000, SEA units comprise 121,500 (equaling 159.54 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 36 songs) and TEA units comprise 1,500. On the final day of the tracking week, Swift introduced a new deluxe digital download edition of the album, exclusively available in her official webstore for one day only. The new version includes one bonus track, “Slut! (Acoustic Version) (Taylor’s Version).”

BTS’ Jung Kook sees his solo debut album, Golden, bow at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 210,200 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 164,800 (it’s the top-selling album of the week), SEA units comprise 29,800 (equaling 41.59 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 10 songs) and TEA units comprise 15,600. Golden’s sales were largely driven by CD purchases, with 128,500 sold, while digital download album contributed 36,300. It was not available to purchase on any other format.

Golden was preceded by a pair of top 10-charting hits on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, the No. 1 “Seven,” featuring Latto, and the No. 5-peaking “3D,” with Jack Harlow.

Golden is Jung Kook’s first charting album on the Billboard 200, and he becomes the sixth member of BTS (of the seven total members) to have achieved a top 10-charting effort. BTS itself has logged seven top 10s, including six No. 1s.

Golden was issued in 16 collectible CD editions, all with the same tracklist, but alternative packaging and covers, with different merchandise (some randomized) contained inside. Among the variants were retail-exclusive sold through Barnes & Noble, Target and Walmart. Golden was also available to purchase across nine different digital download editions: a standard version, one with three music videos, a version with a “digitally signed” cover, two alternative cover versions, and four “voice memo” versions (each of the four came with a different short voice memo recorded by the artist as a bonus track).

A trio of former No. 1s is next on the Billboard 200, as Drake’s For All the Dogs is a non-mover at No. 3 (81,000 equivalent album units; down 15%), Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At a Time rises 5-4 (65,000; up 2%) and Bad Bunny’s Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana falls 4-5 (60,000; down 19%).

The late Jimmy Buffett debuts at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with the final studio album he completed during his lifetime, Equal Strain on All Parts. The set starts with a little over 53,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 51,000, SEA units comprise a little over 2,000 and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. Buffett died on Sept. 1 at the age of 76 of skin cancer.

The new 14-song album, which marks Buffett’s 14th top 10-charting set on the Billboard 200, features contributions from Emmylou Harris, Angelique Kidjo, Lennie Gallant, Will Kimbrough, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Paul McCartney.

Equal Strain on All Parts was issued as a standard digital album, a standard CD and in two vinyl editions — a widely available Key West Blue-colored version, and an indie store exclusive Paradise Blue-colored version that contains a poster inside. Of the album’s 51,000 sold, CD sales comprise 26,000, digital album sales comprise 15,000 and vinyl sales comprise 10,000.

Closing out the new top 10 are four former chart-toppers: Rod Wave’s Nostalgia dips 6-7 (45,000 equivalent album units; down 3%); Zach Bryan’s self-titled set rises 9-8 (nearly 45,000; up 2%); Swift’s Midnights falls 7-9 (43,000; down 3%); and SZA’s SOS is steady at No. 10 (42,000; down less than 1%).

Travis Kelce has touched down — not in the end zone, but in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Why? To cheer on Taylor Swift, of course.

While on a break from her record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift made several appearances at Kansas City Chiefs NFL games to root for rumored boyfriend Kelce, who is a tight end for the team. Swift showed up at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium multiple times and was also in attendance at a MetLife Stadium game when the Chiefs played the New York Jets.

Now, it’s Kelce’s turn to cheer on Swift as she shows off her talent. The two-time Super Bowl winner has been spotted at her concert at Estadio River Plate Stadium, following the postponement of her second Argentina show due to inclement weather. The show was originally scheduled for the evening of Nov. 10, and was delayed by two days.

Prior to the postponement, Kelce was seen landing at the Buenos Aires airport, and fans immediately speculated he would be in attendance at her show.

Swift wrote on X/Twitter on Friday, “I love a rain show but I’m never going to endanger my fans or my fellow performers and crew. We’ve rescheduled tonight’s Buenos Aires show for Sunday due to the weather being so truly chaotic it would be unsafe to try and put on this concert. Good news is I get to stay in Argentina longer!!”

Swift’s tour resumes with more stops in South America before she heads to Tokyo, Australia and Singapore, followed by Europe and the U.K.

Jelly Roll was overcome with emotion after learning of his first two Grammy nominations.

“I’m not sure if I’ll post this or not because I’m so emotional but the greatest honor an artist can ever hear is that they’ve been nominated for a Grammy,” the singer, 38, told his fans in a Friday, November 10, Instagram video before breaking down in tears. “I got to hear that this morning. I haven’t cried like this since my daddy died. I tried to make this video seven times, y’all. I love y’all, man. So f—king much.”

The country star added that he was initially “embarrassed” to post the candid clip but his wife, Bunnie XO, told him that his “honesty and rawness” is what got him “this far.” Promising that he would post a “more complete thought” about the nominations when he gets his “head together,” he added, “I just never would’ve imagined.”

The singer is nominated for Best New Artist at the 2024 ceremony, in which other nominees include The War and Treaty, Ice Spice, Gracie Abrams, Fred Again…, Coco James, Victoria Monét and Noah Kahan. He’s also up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for the remix of his song “Save Me” with Lainey Wilson, which was originally featured on his 2020 studio album, Self Medicated.

The countdown to music’s biggest night — the 66th annual Grammy Awards — starts now. On Friday, November 10, the Recording Academy recruited some powerhouse performers — Kim Petras, St. Vincent, Jimmy Jam, Jon Bon Jovi, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and more — to unveil the list of nominees for the 2024 Grammys. Following news of his Grammy nods on Friday, friends and fans quickly took to Jelly Roll’s comments section to celebrate and applaud his vulnerability. Wilson, 31, who is also up for Best Country Album for her record Bell Bottom Country, wrote: “Jelly, I love ya. Your energy is contagious. See ya at the GRAMMYs.”

Fellow country singer Miranda Lambert also showed her support with a heart and raised hand emoji, while Wynonna Judd wrote: “YOU DESERVE IT ALL!!!!!!! ? We are so happy for you!!!!!!! Congratulations my sweet friend ❤️.”

It’s been a big year for Jelly Roll. The Grammy nominations come on the heels of his win for New Artist of the Year at the 2023 CMA Awards, which took place on Wednesday, November 8, in Nashville. In April, he walked away with Male Video of the Year, Male Breakthrough Video of the Year, and Digital-First Performance of the Year for his single, “Son of a Sinner.”

After the Recording Academy released the full list of Grammy nods on Friday, Jelly Roll opened up to American Songwriting about such an esteemed recognition coming just days after his big CMA win.

As Starz continues its internal changes, several high-ranking members have left the company, a Starz spokesperson confirmed to TheWrap. This is part of a larger company-wide restructuring as the premium cable network prepares to make its transition to becoming a standalone company.

Altogether, senior vice president of original programming Kathryn Tyus-Adair, director of original programming Alex Alberts, manager of original programming Jordan Lippetz and senior vice president and head of production Kevin Hamburger were impacted by the change.

Moving forward, Samantha Nissen will head current programming with Sebastian Arboleda reporting to her. Christina Jokanovich will head development with Tara Roy reporting into her, and Giovanna Desselle will work on both current programming and development. Karen Bailey will step in as head of production following Hamburger’s departure and will handle creative on select titles.

This isn’t the first major shakeup the company has seen in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Starz announced it was to lay off 10% of its staff and that it was ceasing operations in the U.K. and Australia. This news came shortly after the company announced it was pulling out of Latin America in a recent earnings call.

At the time of the announced layoffs, CEO Jeffrey Hirsch explained these changes were made “to align our organization with the growth areas of the business and to prepare us for our next chapter as a standalone company.”

Currently, Starz is angling to separate itself from its parent company, Lionsgate. The split was originally supposed to take place in September of this year. But due to Lionsgate’s acquisition of eOne as well as uncertainties around the now-resolved WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it was delayed until early 2024. During Lionsgate’s most recent earnings call, the company noted that most of its quarterly losses were related to charges from its upcoming separation from Starz. During that same quarter, Starz gained 200,000 domestic subscribers.

Deadline was the first to report this story.

John Bailey, a Hollywood cinematographer whose nearly five-decade career included such films as “The Big Chill” and “Groundhog Day” and a two-year stint as the Film Academy president, died Friday at 81.

“It is with deep sadness I share with you that my best friend and husband, John Bailey, passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning,” said his wife, Carol Littleton, an Oscar-nominated film editor. “During John’s illness, we reminisced how we met 60 years ago and were married for 51 of those years. We shared a wonderful life of adventure in film and made many long-lasting friendships along the way. John will forever live in my heart.”

Starting in 1972 and running through 2022, he amassed 86 cinematographer credits in a filmography that includes countless hits and household movie titles. In addition to 1983’s “The Big Chill” and 1993’s “Groundhog Day,” they include “Ordinary People” (1980), “Silverado” (1985), “The Accidental Tourist” (1988), “In the Line of Fire” (1993), “As Good as It Gets” (1997), “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” (2003), “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” (2005), “Must Love Dogs” (2005) and many more.

“I’ve never read a script to try to find photographic opportunities,” the Academy quoted Bailey as saying. “I look at the emotional value to see if I’m moved.”

Bailey served two terms as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, from 2017 to 2019 and was the first cinematographer to hold the position. Bailey, a member of the Cinematographers Branch of the Academy since 1981, also served 15 years as an Academy governor.

“All of us at the Academy are deeply saddened to learn of John’s passing,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Janet Yang. “John was a passionately engaged member of the Academy and the film community. He served as our president and as an Academy governor for many years and played a leadership role on the Cinematographers Branch. His impact and contributions to the film community will forever be remembered. Our thoughts and support are with Carol at this time.”

During his tenure as Academy governor, he was vice president and chair of the Preservation and History Committee. He also served on the Academy Museum Board of Trustees and on several Academy committees, including the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, Film Scholar and Grants, International Outreach, the Science and Technology Council, Membership Screenings and In Memoriam committees, as well as the former Foreign Language Film Award Executive Committee.

He also served as the Academy’s representative on the Library of Congress’s National Film Preservation Board. Bailey was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers, serving as secretary and vice president on its board of governors. He served on the juries of the Venice Film Festival, Aspen Shortsfest and Poland’s EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival.

In November 2014, he received the Ojai Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, and was honored by the American Society of Cinematographers with its Lifetime Achievement Award in February 2015. In 2019, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival.

Bailey is survived by his wife Carol Littleton, an Oscar-nominated film editor and former Academy governor who will be presented with an Honorary Oscar in January.

A memorial service for Bailey will be held at a future date. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Academy Foundation in memory of John Bailey.

The verdict is in! Katy Perry’s legal battle over that $15-million Montecito mansion has concluded.

The “Teenage Dream” hitmaker purchased the mansion for herself and fiancé Orlando Bloom in July 2020 from the founder of 1-800-Flowers. But the entrepreneur tried to call off the sale, alleging he was mentally incapacitated at the time of the agreement due to pain pills.

On Wednesday, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge tentatively ruled that Carl Westcott, 84, had not met his burden of proving he was mentally unfit.

“Wescott presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked capacity to enter into a real estate contract between June 10, 2020, and June 18, 2020, the days during which he negotiated and signed the contract,” the judgment read.

The judge said evidence presented by Wescott’s team was not credible or persuasive. The court actually found significant evidence that demonstrated Wescott was well enough to knowingly sign on the dotted line. The evidence included the testimony of a witness who interacted with Westcott while he negotiated and finalized the contract as well as Westcott’s written communications during the same time frame that the court said showed the entrepreneur to be “coherent, engaged, lucid, and rational.”

Westcott’s medical reports showed that none of his doctors found he lacked capacity to engage in any action before the sales contract or for more than a year afterward. According to the court documents, the contract that Westcott negotiated and signed yielded him a $3.75-million profit. He also had entered into other contracts shortly before and shortly after the real estate agreement with Perry and had not attempted to rescind any of those due to lack of capacity.

“Today’s proposed decision is clear — the judge found that Mr. Westcott could not prove anything other than he was of perfectly sound mind when he engaged in complex negotiations over several weeks with multiple parties to transact a lucrative sale of the property that netted him a substantial profit,” Perry’s attorney, Eric Rowen, said in a statement to People.

“The evidence shows that Mr. Westcott breached the contract for no other reason than he had changed his mind,” said Rowen. “We look forward to wrapping this matter up at the scheduled damage trial phase set for February 13 and 14, if not before.”

Westcott filed a lawsuit against the couple’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, in August 2020, alleging he was heavily medicated and not of sound mind when he contracted with Perry for the $15-million sale. Shortly after the contract was signed, Westcott and his lawyers alleged that he was unable to properly review the contract because he had been on “several intoxicating pain-killing opiates” at the time.

Westcott said in his lawsuit that he had a six-hour back surgery several days before being presented with the proposed real estate contract and had been prescribed powerful medications that left him “intoxicated” at signing time.

The trial began in late September, and the judge has since bifurcated the case. The “Roar” singer is expected to testify in front of the judge in the countersuit regarding damages.

Westcott’s son, Chart Westcott, told People, “While we do not agree with [the judge’s] ruling and wish he had spelled our father’s name correctly in his ruling, we accept it.” “Katy Perry will now have to testify, in person, on damages and the contradictory claims she has made over lost income for the rental of my father’s home. While this has been a long road, the fight for my father is not over and we will continue to represent him and his legacy of incredible achievements.”

Warning – This article contains spoilers for The Marvels.

One of the many surprises to come out of The Marvels was the official return of Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop to the MCU — her first appearance since 2021’s Hawkeye and her cinematic debut in the franchise.

More than just a return, though, Steinfeld’s cameo also included major teases for what is to come in the character’s future.

In the Captain Marvel sequel’s final scene before the credits, Kate and Hawkeye‘s Lucky were greeted by Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani).

The two young heroes proceed to re-enact the iconic Iron Man post-credit scene between Tony Stark and Nick Fury, with Kate as the recruit and Kamala Khan as the recruiter.

Kamala tells Kate that she is working on assembling a team, using much of Fury’s dialogue from the first-ever post-credit scene in the MCU.

She explains that Kate is now part of a “much larger universe,” and points out that the archer is not the only young hero, using Ant-Man’s daughter (Cassie Lang) as an example.

This scene marks the first official interaction between young heroes from different projects and seems to be the MCU’s first concrete step toward a Young Avengers adaptation — something Steinfeld herself has said she hoped to do.

Are the Young Avengers Finally Assembling?

Marvel

If nothing else, this end scene from The Marvels confirmed that there will be a team of young heroes, including at least Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.

Further, given the Cassie shout-out and the discussion of kid heroes, it is very likely that this new team will be the Young Avengers.

Young Avengers rumors have been circulating since the beginning of Phase 4 when Wanda Maximoff’s kids Billy and Tommy (the former of which being part of the first iteration of the comics Young Avengers team, the latter joining the team soon after) appeared in WandaVision, and Eli Bradley (Patriot in the original comics) briefly cameoed in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Quickly following, fans saw Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang suit up as well.

Technically, Iron Lad has appeared too, to an extent, as he is a variant of Kang the Conqueror. However, he has not made an MCU appearance as that variant so far. As of now, the only original Young Avenger who has yet to appear in the MCU in any capacity is Hulkling.

A Ms. Marvel-Led Team

Interestingly, Ms. Marvel is not typically associated with the Young Avengers in the comics.

She was an Avenger for some time, but arguably her most famous team is the Champions. The Champions is another team of young heroes, with some overlap with the Young Avengers, but also other heroes like Miles Morales’ Spider-Man.

The scene at the end of The Marvels indicates that Kamala will be leading MCU’s new young team, but has been teasing members that align more closely with the Young Avengers than the Ms. Marvel-led Champions.

However, it is not unheard of for the MCU to mix and merge comics together or even make drastic changes from the source material to better fit the franchise’s narrative.

Regardless, the Young Avengers in one form or another are certainly part of the MCU’s future.

The Marvels is now playing in theaters.

A big twist was teased for My Adventures With Superman Season 2.

While the freshman series didn’t conclude long ago, fans are already hungry for more. However, that shouldn’t be surprising given how the finale teased the introduction of General Zod and Brainiac.

While hyping the next batch of episodes, writer Josephine Campbell previously teased how “There’s so much stuff in Season 2 that [she] thinks is gonna blow people’s minds.”

She also made it clear that there will still be new “ups and downs” for Lois Lane and Clark’s relationship.

My Adventures With Superman Season 2 Twist Incoming

DC

In an interview with Traversing the Stars on YouTube, My Adventures with Superman composers Daniel Futcher and Dominic Lewis teased a big twist on the horizon for Season 2.

When asked what they might be doing differently in Season 2, Futcher noted how “it does take a big musical turn about halfway through” and that there’s “a big tonal shift:”

“Obviously, I don’t want to spoil anything. It does take a big musical turn about halfway through. The first half of the season’s kind of Superman score that we all know, and then it takes a big turn. And then throughout the rest of the season, it’s sort of… I don’t want to spoil, but that turn, it’s sort of then, as the season progresses, we add more of the original Superman stuff, but it is a big tonal shift, for sure.”

Lewis added how Futcher is “killing it” and that “people won’t be disappointed.”

“Yeah, which Danny’s… I mean, [Daniel Futcher is] killing it. The stuff sounds so great. And even though it’s shifting, people won’t be disappointed. It’s really good.”

Futcher made it clear that despite a shift, “it still packs the same punch, but it’s a little different.”

What Does Season 2 of Superman Show Have Planned?

Hopefully, thanks to Season 1 of My Adventures With Superman laying the foundation for Clark’s story, Season 2 will be able to dive deeper into the character’s lore.

With Zod and Brainiac working in tandem with one another and likely being involved with Krypton itself, odds are this upcoming storyline is going to be personal for Clark in a way previously unseen. This could easily account for why the show may change in tone, probably leaning into more serious territory.

Narratively, it would also make sense for this drastic shift in tone to be a notable low point for this version of Superman. Perhaps he gets beaten by his new enemies fairly quickly or nearly loses his friends—maybe Clark learns some terrible truth he never wanted to know.

One could argue that the first season was a fairly light-hearted affair for most of its run. So it’s hard to see how a change in tone would be a bad thing.

Needless to say, most fans probably can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.

My Adventures With Superman is now streaming on Max.

RuneScape has always had a very strict logout timer as a way to prevent permanent AFK training methods as well as some more nefarious practices. It’s been the bane of many players existence as a singular distraction can cause a player to lobby which can interrupt training methods, and even have their spot stolen. Luckily, as of Monday, November 13, 2023, Jagex has graciously extended the logout timer for all players.

Jagex has decided to extend the logout timer from five minutes to ten minutes. Yes, ten minutes. If you have a Jagex Account, this stacks with the additional five minutes that you receive as a reward, for a total of fifteen minutes. It seems rather strict that in 2023, players will be booted back to the lobby after ten minutes. It’s even worse when you consider that Old School RuneScape players receive a twenty-five-minute timer. Why can’t RuneScape players receive the same?

Regardless, the majority of the community is happy because Jagex is bringing the extended login timer to all players, as opposed to Premier Members only. Which going by their most recent history, is something that would have been very Jagex-like to do. It appears that Jagex is listening, for now at least, between the logout timer extension for all, and the Black Party Hat announcement not being linked to microtransactions.

I suppose one should be grateful that we aren’t living pre-2009 RuneScape era where the timer was 90 seconds long. Those were dark days indeed. It definitely felt more lively though. But at the same time, I wouldn’t be cutting back on the fiber just yet as ten minutes is still quite fleeting.

The three members of Boygenius are not having to stretch to figure out a time and a place to celebrate the six Grammy nominations that came in for the band Friday morning. They’re booked for “Saturday Night Live” this weekend — and, live from New York, they shared their thoughts via Zoom about the big love that has come their way from the Recording Academy, even as they rehearse for a key TV appearance.

“I don’t know how to respond to it,” says Julien Baker. “It’s just happened. I’m overwhelmed”… but “stoked,” she finally affirms.

Phoebe Bridgers had a prep course in navigating the Grammys when, as a solo artist, she picked up four nods three years ago. She’s pleased about the increased numbers this year — not just in the higher amount of nominations, although there is that, but in that she gets to share the acknowledgement with bandmates Baker and Lucy Dacus.

“It’s triple the joy, right?” Bridgers asks aloud. “Yeah, much easier to feel happy for them. Much easier to feel, kind of,” she adds.

Bridgers can elaborate on that, looking back to the Grammys’ 2020-21 election cycle: “It was fucking COVID when I was nominated, and this is so much more celebratory. I was pretty traumatized last time, and the only way I felt it was on the phone. So it’s already way more fun, to find out in a room full of people and be celebrating.

“We play ‘SNL’ tomorrow, which I’m kind of nervous about. So it’s like, talk to us after the show,” Bridgers continues. “If it went fine, we’re happy.” Not that there could be a more affirmative moment. “It’s definitely like, ‘Yeah, ‘Oh, people like our band. We should go play and rock the way that people like. Yeah — ‘Do that thing people like.’ ‘Thank you! We will.’”

Did the “SNL” talent team show amazing foresight in signing the group up for the episode coming the day after Grammy nominations, knowing it’d feel like a “ripped from today’s headlines” booking? “I think they booked us because they think we’re great,” Dacus responds, dryly. (Good answer.)

Although they do wonder aloud about possible themes to the booking. “We filmed those promos yesterday with Timothée Chalamet,” Bridgers says, “and he was like, ‘I feel like the fourth Boygenius member,’ which is like… I feel like that’s a bisexual joke — like, that he would be in Boygenius?”

The group doesn’t want to tease too heavily what they might do on “SNL,” apart from be great, which will be good enough. “You should be excited,” says Bridgers. “I want you to write about it as someone surprised by it, because I’m curious what your take is. It’s not that crazy, but I think you’ll like it.”

In any case, it might not be smart to place any bets on anything as repetitive as, like, the members collectively smashing their guitars, in an echo of Bridgers’ famous 2021 solo performance on the show. “Hey, I tried,” she points out, alluding to the guitar’s own fighting spirit that night.

Boygenius is up for Grammys in six categories: album of the year and best alternative album, for “The Record”; record of the year, best rock performance and best rock song, for “Not Strong Enough”; and best alternative performance, for the ballad “Cool About It.” The “Record” album itself has a seventh nomination, for best engineered album. And Bridgers has a seventh nomination for her featured appearance on SZA’s “Ghost in the Machine,” in the pop duo/group performance category.

The Grammys will be telecast by CBS from L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena on Feb. 4. To read the full list of 2024 nominations, click here.

Riley’s head is about to get a little more crowded. Disney and Pixar have just released the first trailer for Inside Out 2, and in doing so, introduced a brand new emotion to Riley’s mind. Anxiety is the newest addition to the dysfunctional family in Riley’s head.

Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, will easily make things difficult for Joy. It had taken Joy years to understand the value Sadness brought to Riley’s life. Will her adventure in Inside Out make her more curious and accepting of Anxiety’s role in Riley’s life? Or, will Joy quickly freak out at how Anxiety will bring chaos to Riley’s life?

Inside Out had been a beautiful emotional rollercoaster ride from start to finish as Joy and Sadness went on a journey that forced them to better understand the other’s presence in Riley’s life while Riley struggled to figure out how to maneuver through her new experiences with only Anger, Disgust, and Fear at the wheel.

Although the trailer does not reveal much about the overall storyline that Inside Out 2 will face, much of the emotional conflict will certainly come from Anxiety and the slew of new emotions that come from Riley growing into a teenager.

But who are the other new emotions, and when will they be introduced? Anxiety makes it sound as if they are already present in Riley’s mind but have just not come out to join the rest of the group yet.

The conclusion of Inside Out introduced puberty, so there are many directions the movie’s plot could go. Inside Out 2 even promises chaos and mayhem in the aftermath of replacing the console.

As for handling the exits of Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader as Disgust and Fear, respectively, the two characters have been recast with Liza Lapira and Tony Hale.

Inside Out 2 will be released in theaters on Friday, June 14, 2024.

MEET ANXIETY -- Disney and Pixar’s “Inside

Although the days of flying in your finest clothes are long gone—and thankfully so—the art of airport outfits is still just as important in the age of Instagram. It’s an imperfect science: Dressing too formally can leave you uncomfortable for hours, while going too casual can feel embarrassing. The secret? Mixing high-low staples like sweatpants, cute sweaters, white sneakers, and T-shirts into pulled-together (and extremely comfy) outfits.

Dressing to the nines is out of the question, especially if you’re going long-haul, so put down the stilletos (yep, even the most comfortable heels) and look towards your loungewear collection for inspiration. Comfort is king when it comes to cute airport outfit ideas, but with enough consideration and some creative styling, you won’t look out of place in first class or coach alike. The details—affordable designer bags, oversized sunglasses to mask the lack of sleep on a red eye, and versatile layers to keep you comfortable no matter how much pressurized air is blowing on you in the cabin—make all the difference.

From tried-and-true athleisure looks to meeting-ready ensembles that you’ll want to wear all day long, these are the best airport outfits to wear on your next flight. (And don’t worry: There are plenty of slippers and Amazon leggings to choose from.)

1. The OG Airport Outfit

Sometimes, you can’t beat the classics. These four pieces are iconic for a reason—they each look good and play a key role in getting you to your destination as comfortably as possible. A gray sweatshirt and black leggings will always look good together without causing you to freeze or overheat. A baseball cap, meanwhile, keeps flyaways firmly in place. And sporty sneakers are easy to slip off when you’re going through security and springy when you’re getting through a seemingly endless walk to your gate. Perfection.

Everlane The Baseball Cap

New Balance 574 Core Trainers

2. The Comfort-First Airport Outfit

Flying is stressful enough on its own—you don’t need to make it any tougher for yourself by fussing over an outfit. This best-selling matching set from Amazon comes in 26 colors and has earned rave reviews for its soft, lightweight fabric. Pair it with slippers that are just as durable as sneakers, like Ugg’s celeb-beloved Tasmans, and pat yourself on the back for getting ready in less than five minutes.

Prettygarden Two-Piece Tracksuit

3. The Plane-to-Meeting Airport Outfit

We’ll be the first to admit that flying in business attire sounds like torture, even if it’s a necessity when you’re headed straight to a meeting or a conference. These soft, stretchy picks, though, will change your mind. Both this relaxed blazer and these smart pants offer just enough give and are made from wrinkle-resistant materials, meaning you’ll look fresh even after sitting for hours. Paired with these comfy, cult-fave ballet flats and minimal jewelry, you’ll feel (and look) like a boss.

J.Crew Kate Straight-Leg Pants

Everlane Italian Leather Day Gloves

4. The Stealth Wealth Airport Outfit

Whether or not you’re heading straight from the airplane to a luxury hotel, you deserve to look like that person. This chic airport outfit will serve you well. Zara’s matching turtleneck vest and knit pants just look like money, even if the entire set costs less than $75. Add to the luxe vibe by way of your accessories, including don’t-talk-to-me sunglasses and studded, slightly edgy flats. Mentally, we’re in first class.

Ferragamo Gancini Sunglasses

Reformation Bethany Ballet Flats

5. The Vacation Airport Outfit

If you want everyone to know you’re off to somewhere relaxing, this is the airport outfit for you. Pop on a graphic tee and some linen pants that’ll keep you cool once you reach customs—and just keep a sweatshirt or cardigan on hand if you get chilly. Accessorize with some beach-ready picks, including a woven tote bag and some cherry-red shades. And while shoes are up to you, you really can’t go wrong with airport-friendly walking sandals.

Desert Dreamer Cézanne Entrance Tee

Quince 100% European Linen Pants

Tory Burch Ella Hand-Crocheted Tote

Madewell Baymont Square Sunglasses

6. The Sporty Airport Outfit

If travel is your middle name, then a practical, jet-set airport outfit is probably more your vibe. This one is ready to sprint to the gate when you are, complete with a sporty-cute quarter-zip, bike shorts with plenty of coverage, and extra-cushy running shoes that literally feel like walking on clouds. Athleisure has never looked better.

Lululemon Brushed Softstreme Ribbed Half-Zip

Baleaf High-Waist Biker Shorts

Nike Everyday Plus Cushioned Training Crew Socks

Hoka Clifton 9 Running Shoes

7. The Inter-Climate Airport Outfit

When your destination is at a wildly different temperature than your home, layering is your friend. Throw a bold cardigan over a white T-shirt and you should be set for nearly any climate. Meanwhile, denim should get you through most temperatures—and note that these mid-rise jeans have plenty of built-in stretch to keep you from feeling constricted. Top it all off with easygoing sneakers (with on-trend metallic details) and you’re set.

J.Crew Cable-Knit Stretch Cardigan Sweater

Good American Petite Good Girlfriend Jeans

Gola Coaster Flame Sneakers

8. The Red-Eye Airport Outfit

Heading somewhere far-flung and catching a night flight to get there? You’ll need a warm and comfortable ensemble to snuggle up in. Instead of going straight for pajamas—a little too informal—opt for a vintage-inspired hoodie and some soft, perfectly cut pants. Fuzzy socks only add more comfort, and a silk eye mask (which offers the same benefits as silk pillowcases) will help you get plenty of shut-eye.

Yu Yu Hakusho, a manga and anime cherished for 30 years, is being transformed into a live-action series by Netflix, promising to reignite fan excitement. Directed by the talented Shô Tsukikawa and featuring high-end visual effects from Scanline, the team behind hits like Shadow and Bone and Stranger Things, this series promises to be a visual spectacle.

Leading the show is Takumi Kitamura, portraying the rebellious Yusuke Urameshi. The cast includes a mix of rising stars and seasoned veterans, like Jun Shison as Kurama, Kanata Hongô in the role of Hiei, and Shûhei Uesugi as Kazuma Kuwabara. The inclusion of the iconic Meiko Kaji and the versatile Go Ayano, who plays Younger Toguro, adds a layer of classic appeal to the series. The released teaser hints at a gripping storyline. It opens with a tragic car accident, leading to Yusuke confronting his own demise while saving a child. The narrative then shifts to the spirit world, where Yusuke encounters Koenma (Keita Machida), who offers him a second chance at life as an Underworld Detective.

In the afterlife, Yusuke meets Botan (Kotone Furukawa), who informs him that his heroic deed was so out of character that neither heaven nor hell anticipated it. Yusuke is then offered a trial to return to the human world, where he delves into the underworld’s mysteries as a detective. Running successfully from 1990 to 1994, the manga Yu Yu Hakusho later inspired a well-received anime adaptation, which became one of the first anime to become a big hit in the West after Adult Swim began airing it in their nascent programming. Yu Yu Hakusho has made a global impact with over 78 million copies, securing its place as a bestselling series internationally.

We have a solid release date now for the Yu Yu Hakusho adaptation, which will begin on Netflix December 14. That’s less than four months since one of the most successful live-action anime adaptations in history — Netflix’s One Piece series, which drew massive numbers and critical acclaim.

The Yu Yu Hakusho adaptation aims to elevate the manga beyond a simple live-action translation, crafting a novel portrayal of the beloved story. With a blend of new faces and revered actors, innovative visual effects, and a story that balances the original manga’s essence with fresh elements, the series is poised to offer both nostalgia and novelty in different ways. Yu Yu Hakusho exemplifies Netflix’s dedication to diversifying its adaptation offerings, showcasing its effort to deliver captivating content to audiences worldwide. The excitement surrounding its release is a reflection of the enduring appeal of the source material and the success Netflix has recently experienced, and it will be itneresting to see if they can do it again. Warner Bros. will be juggling a lot in the Oscar race for best original song.

As confirmed by an FYC advertisement sent to Critics Choice Association members, along with the multiple tracks from “Barbie” by Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, the studio will also handle several numbers from their two upcoming holiday movie musicals: “The Color Purple” and “Wonka.”

The upcoming adaptation of the musical “The Color Purple” will screen in front of its first official audience of industry voters and journalists next week. We now know that two numbers have been submitted for awards consideration — “Keep It Movin’” and “Workin’”

Read: Variety’s Awards Circuit for the latest Oscars predictions in all categories.

One of the film’s stars Halle Bailey, already having a breakout year with her starring role as Ariel in Walt Disney’s live adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” has co-written “Keep It Movin’.” The track is also penned by Grammy winners Denisia Andrews, Brittany Coney and Morten Ristorp, who have all worked on songs performed by superstar Beyoncé. The song is sung by Bailey, who plays young Nettie, and Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, who portrays young Celie. The song race becomes another opportunity for Bailey to nab awards love this year, as she’s one of the leading candidates to nab a lead actress (comedy) nom for her work in her Disney musical.

The other song, “Workin’,” is written by the film’s director and Grammy nominated artist Blitz Bazawule, in addition to Grammy winner Nick Baxter. The number is performed by Corey Hawkins, who plays Harpo Johnson, and the ensemble.

The film stars Fantasia Barrino, Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, H.E.R., Ciara, Jon Batiste and Louis Gossett Jr. Based on the classic novel by Alice Walker, and the stage musical by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, Stephen Bray and Marsha Norman, the film tells the story of an African American woman living in the south during the early 1900s. The book was first adapted by director Steven Spielberg in 1985, who returns as a producer along with the original film’s Academy Award nominated star Oprah Winfrey, Oscar-nominated producer Quincy Jones and Grammy and Tony winner Scott Sanders.

In addition to original song, the film will be submitted in all eligible categories including directing, actress (Barrino), supporting actor (Domingo, Hawkins), supporting actress (Brooks, Henson, H.E.R., Bailey, Mpasi), adapted screenplay (Marcus Gardley), cinematography (Dan Laustsen), film editing (Jon Poll), production design (Paul Denham Austerberry, Larry Dias), costume design (Francine Jamison-Tanchuck), makeup and hairstyling (Carol Rasheed, Lawrence Davis), sound (Richard Bullock, Steve Morrow, Renee Tondelli, Julian Slater, Paul Massey), visual effects (Ariel Velasco Shaw, Julian Lojeck, Tom Mahoney, Charles Cooley) and original score (Kris Bowers).

Also confirmed via an FYC ad, its WB counterpart “Wonka,” starring Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet, will have three original numbers angling for awards attention. “A World of Your Own” by songwriters Neil Hannon, Simon Farnaby and Paul King, and is sung by Chalamet, had already been listed on WB’s awards site. The ad names two other songs — “You’ve Never Had Chocolate Like This” penned by the same trio and “For a Moment” by Hannon and performed by Chalamet and co-star Calah Lane. We’ll see if we can hear any part of the songs during Chalamet’s “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig on Saturday.

“The Color Purple” will be released in theaters on Dec. 25.

2024 GRAMMY Nominees: Taylor Swift Breaks Song

In the pantheon of great cinema, certain films are remembered not just for their gripping plots or compelling characters, but also for their iconic cars. These mechanical marvels are not mere props, but characters that drive the narrative both literally and figuratively. For any car enthusiast, there’s a pure joy in watching these automotive legends in action. And for those inspired to own a piece of this high-octane history, a VIN decoder is an indispensable tool. Before revving up the engine of your dream car purchase, always ensure to use the best free

Now, let’s cruise through the top 3 movies where cars aren’t just featured; they steal the show.

1. “Bullitt” (1968)

The granddaddy of car chase cinema, “Bullitt,” directed by Peter Yates and starring Steve McQueen, set the gold standard for every car movie that followed. The story follows Frank Bullitt, a San Francisco cop, who becomes determined to find the underworld kingpin that killed a witness under his protection. However, it’s the 10-minute chase scene through the hilly streets of San Francisco that’s etched in cinematic history. McQueen, behind the wheel of a Highland Green 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 Fastback, pursued by hitmen in a black Dodge Charger, turned car chases into a form of high art. The Mustang itself became a legend, symbolizing cool under pressure and raw American power.

2. “The Fast and the Furious” Series (2001-Present)

What started as a movie about the underground street racing scene in Los Angeles has evolved into a global blockbuster franchise. “The Fast and the Furious” has put a spotlight on a diverse array of cars—from tuned imports to classic muscle cars—making auto enthusiasts out of casual viewers. With each installment, the stunts get more audacious, and the cars more spectacular. The series is also credited with reviving interest in car tuning culture and has influenced an entire generation’s view of car ownership and automotive beauty. The central character, Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel), and his ever-evolving lineup of vehicles, including the iconic black 1970 Dodge Charger, have become as celebrated as the films themselves.

3. “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015)

While the original “Mad Max” trilogy featured some memorable cars, it was George Miller’s triumphant return to the franchise with “Mad Max: Fury Road” that elevated the role of vehicles to new heights. In a dystopian wasteland where cars are the key to survival, they are armored, weaponized, and modified to the extreme. The film is a two-hour car chase that’s relentless in its pace and stunning in its choreography. The centerpiece is the War Rig, a colossal 18-wheeler commandeered by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron). Each vehicle in this film is a rolling sculpture, representing the remnants of a broken world. The movie isn’t just a testament to human resilience; it’s an ode to the machines that could outlast humanity.

The Heartbeat of Cinema and the Pulse of Reality

Cars in movies often reflect the culture and spirit of the times they are set in or were made. They can be symbols of freedom, power, rebellion, or innovation. Whether it’s the raw American muscle of the ’60s, the street-smart tuners of the early 2000s, or the post-apocalyptic behemoths of the future, these cars are the heartbeat of their films. For viewers who want to capture a piece of this magic, owning a car like one seen on the silver screen is a thrill like no other. But it’s not just about the make and model; it’s about the history and stories that each car holds.

A Note on Authenticity and History

That’s where the importance of a VIN decoder comes in. Much like a movie buff would research the lore behind their favorite films, a car enthusiast should investigate the history of their vehicle. A VIN decoder is a tool that unlocks this narrative. It can tell you where the car was made, its original specifications, accident history, and even its maintenance records. This information is vital, whether you’re buying a classic car, a used daily driver, or a potential project car.

By using the best free VIN Decoder, you ensure that the story you’re buying into is genuine, and the car you’re driving off into the sunset with is as authentic as it gets. It’s the difference between owning a prop and starring in your automotive epic.

Conclusion

The entwined legacy of automobiles and cinema is an exhilarating journey that transcends the boundaries of the silver screen to ignite our wildest fantasies. “Bullitt,” “The Fast and the Furious,” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” are not just films; they are cultural touchstones that celebrate the indomitable spirit of the automobile and its enduring influence on our collective consciousness. These cinematic masterpieces showcase cars that are not merely vehicles but vessels of human ambition, creativity, and the relentless pursuit of freedom. They remind us that every car has a story, a soul, and a legacy that can capture our imaginations and, sometimes, even our hearts.

For those moved by the roaring engines and sculpted metal that graces the screen, the pursuit of such motoring heritage is made secure and authentic through the indispensable use of a VIN decoder. This tool is the gateway to uncovering the rich tapestry of a vehicle’s past, ensuring that the dream car you seek to own is not just a mere echo of its cinematic counterpart but a true relic of its storied existence.

FAQs:

Q: What makes “Bullitt” a classic in car movie history?

A: “Bullitt” is considered a classic due to its groundbreaking and realistic car chase scene, Steve McQueen’s iconic performance, and the enduring appeal of the 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 Fastback. Its influence on the genre can still be felt today.

Q: How has “The Fast and the Furious” series influenced car culture?

A: The series has brought street racing and car tuning culture into the mainstream, highlighting a diverse range of cars and inspiring a generation to appreciate the art of vehicle customization and performance.

Q: Why is “Mad Max: Fury Road” significant in the realm of car movies?

A: “Mad Max: Fury Road” reimagines the role of vehicles in a post-apocalyptic setting, showcasing them as both survival tools and moving works of art. The film’s continuous high-speed action and unique vehicle designs have set a new standard for cinematic car chases.

Q: Why should I use a VIN decoder when buying a car?

A: A VIN decoder provides a comprehensive history report of the vehicle, including its manufacturing details, any past accidents, maintenance issues, and previous ownership. This information is crucial for making an informed purchase and ensuring the car’s authenticity.

Q: Are the car models featured in these movies available for purchase?

A: Some car models, especially those from “Bullitt” and “The Fast and the Furious,” have become highly sought after and are available for purchase, though they may be rare or come at a premium price due to their iconic status.

In the pantheon of great cinema, certain

Morgan Wallen getting snubbed out of a GRAMMY had a lot of people scratching their heads, including GRAMMYs boss Harvey Mason Jr.

In an interview with Variety after the 2024 GRAMMY nominations were announced Friday, the CEO of The Recording Academy shared his immediate reaction after one of the most commercially successful artists failed to get a nom. And it wasn’t just Wallen. Fellow country superstar Luke Combs also got snubbed.

Calling it a “sore spot,” Variety asked Mason if he ever says to himself, “Come on, we have to be fair here?” whenever it seems like there could be a deliberate snub, given Wallen’s controversial past. Mason says that when it comes to snubs, he’s disappointed, but he also reminds fans that evaluating music is always subjective.

“I always believe that we’ve got to be fair and we have to be honest — I think that goes without saying,” he told the outlet. “But music is subjective, and when you’re evaluating it, a lot goes into that. Our voters, I believe, take that task very seriously. I think they generally do a really good job, doing the work of listening and making decisions based on the music, but it is subjective. And when it comes to snubs, it absolutely disappoints me — I’m affected by it, for sure.”

As ET noted immediately after the GRAMMY nominations were announced, Latin artists were also noticeably left out of the Big 4 General Field categories — Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist — much to the chagrin of many.

GRAMMYs boss Harvey Mason Jr. – Getty

Peso Pluma, for example, forced the music industry as a whole to pay attention to his rise earlier this year thanks to “Ella Baila Sola.” The track topped the Billboard 100 chart this year, becoming the first regional Mexican song ever to do so. The 24-year-old’s catchy tune also earned the distinct notion of officially becoming Spotify’s global Song of the Summer thanks to its whopping 367 million streams, but the Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, native was nowhere on the Best New Artist list of nominees.

Ditto for Bad Bunny in the Album of the Year category, prompting one writer to ask if it’s perhaps time to consider that the recognition of the Latin GRAMMYs is allowing the Recording Academy to slack a bit when it comes to recognizing the success of Latin music in the mainstream.

“I know what it feels like to put all your heart and soul into a project that you really believe that you believe is the best work,” Mason said. “So, it disappoints me, I always want to make sure we’re being representative and we’re being accurate. But it’s very subjective.”

As for Wallen, the snub feels even more egregious given One Thing at a Time — a 36-track banger about whiskey and women — is still at the top of the Billboard Country charts after 28 weeks. His single, “Last Night,” scored a Best Country Song nomination, but that category honors the songwriters — John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, and Ryan Vojtesak — and not the performer.

Morgan Wallen getting snubbed out of a GRAMMY

John Bailey, a seasoned Hollywood cinematographer who served as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 2017 to 2019, died Friday in Los Angeles. He was 81.

Bailey’s death was announced by his wife, Carol Littleton, in a statement released by the Academy on Friday evening.

”It is with deep sadness I share with you that my best friend and husband, John Bailey, passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning,” Littleton wrote. “During John’s illness, we reminisced how we met 60 years ago and were married for 51 of those years. The publisher of best-selling romantasy book “Fourth Wing” is working to “swiftly” resolve the “frustrating” misprint issues with “Iron Flame,” the sequel from author Rebecca Yarros, which sold more than half a million copies on its Tuesday release day alone.

Entangled Publishing, the owner of Red Tower Books, the imprint behind “Fourth Wing” and “Iron Flame” issued a statement to Variety on Friday, following numerous social media posts and online customer reviews that cited misprints with physical hardback copies of “Iron Flame,” as well as the new holiday edition of “Fourth Wing,” both released Nov. 7.

“Entangled Publishing acknowledges that a limited number of copies from the first edition print run of Iron Flame, the highly anticipated sequel to Fourth Wing, have been affected by printing errors,” the statement reads. “We know that these misprints, no matter how common in the industry, have caused disappointment among those who eagerly awaited this release. We understand how frustrating it can be to receive a misprinted book. The satisfaction and joy of our readers is at the heart of what we do, and we stand by our products, our authors, and, most importantly, our reading community.

“In keeping with our values of quality and responsibility, we are committed to making this right. We are actively working with our distribution partner to create a solution for those who wish to exchange their copy but are unable to do so at their original retailer. Our printing company is also working to produce the additional copies needed to facilitate this process. Entangled Publishing appreciates the patience and support of our readers as we work to swiftly resolve this issue. More details will be available on our social media platforms in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued trust, enthusiasm for Iron Flame, and the incredible stories we share.”

According to several videos posted on TikTok, customers found damaged and bleeding sprayed book edges, typos, missing pages, and upside down pages and endpapers in certain copies of “Iron Flame” and the special printing of “Fourth Wing.” One user shared a video that showed her copy of “Iron Flame” said “Fourth Wing” on the spine of the book, underneath an “Iron Flame” dust jacket, but did in fact contain the printed pages for the 640-page sequel book, not “Fourth Wing.”

“Iron Flame” is Yarros’ follow-up to “Fourth Wing,” her New York Times best-selling romantasy that was released in May by Entangled Publishing’s Red Tower Books. “Fourth Wing” introduced Violet Sorrengail, a first-year student at Basgiath War College who became a dragon rider after training her whole life as a scribe, a more peaceful calling.

“Fourth Wing,” “Iron Flame” and the three other planned books in Yarros’ “The Empyrean” series are being developed as a TV series by Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society.

Variety spoke with Yarros about the in-the-works TV show and key plot details from sequel “Iron Flame” in a spoiler-filled interview published Wednesday.

While the SAG-AFTRA strike is over and Hollywood will soon return to work, studios will be feeling the effects of the strike for years to come.

Now that the dust has settled, Disney announced their new release schedule, which includes the delay of a series of Marvel films.

Four Marvel Films Have Been Pushed Back

Deadpool 3, which was previously slated for a May 3, 2024 release, will now hit theaters on July 26, 2024.

If that date sounds familiar, it should. Fans had been expecting Captain America: Brave New World to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. With Deadpool 3 assuming the slot, Captain America 4 will now move to February 14, 2025.

Additionally, Thunderbolts, which was expected to hit theaters on December 20, 2024, is being pushed back to July 25, 2025. Finally, the upcoming Blade reboot has shifted from February 15, 2025, to November 7, 2025.

‘Deadpool 3’ Will Be Marvel’s Lone 2024 Release

Interstingly, Deadpool 3 will now be the sole Marvel Studios film released in theaters in 2024. Typically the studio releases three or four tentpole films a year.

Rumors had previously circulated that the SAG-AFTRA strike had gone on too long for Deadpool 3 to be ready on time. Now, after a four-month delay, Marvel Studios is set to get production up and running before Thanksgiving.

While Deadpool 3 was in the middle of production when the strike hit, Captain America: Brave New World had already completed principal photography before the strike. While the film may require additional photography, a seven-month delay will be a long wait.

Thunderbolts and Blade, meanwhile, had yet to start production before the strike.

‘The Lion King’ Prequel Also Delayed

Outside of Marvel, the prequel to the 2019 remake of The Lion King has also been delayed. Mufasa: The Lion King will vacate its July 5, 2024 slot and move to December 20, 2024.

The Hollywood strikes may be over, but the consequences of the prolonged shutdown are only starting to be revealed.

Summary

  • As We Know It is a quirky zombie comedy film with endearing chemistry between the cast and punchy jokes that enhance its appeal.
  • The film derives most of its comedy through references to movies and pop culture, creating a light and absurd atmosphere.
  • The magnetic cast, particularly Oliver Cooper, delivers great performances that make the comedy land effectively and lead to compelling relationships between the characters, despite one ill-advised romance.

As We Know It (as in, “It’s the end of the world as we know it”) is a very appealing zombie comedy film in a similar vein as Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland. It may not boast the same level of timeless entertainment as those films or something more complex like One Cut of the Dead, but its quirky comedy and the endearing chemistry between the entire cast make for a fun and simple 90-minute zombie comedy. The romantic relationship between the two lead characters, James (Mike Castle) and Emily (Taylor Blackwell), is a little forced, but it does make for a fairly sweet and satisfying conclusion. The jokes are punchy, and the absurdity of As We Know It only enhances the film’s appeal.

Set in Los Angeles, As We Know It takes us back to the late ’90s where we meet James Bishop, a novelist who, after an emotional break-up with his longtime girlfriend Emily, is stuck in a writers’ slump. To make matters worse, Bruce (Oliver Cooper), James’ eccentric best friend, shows up to his home in the Hollywood Hills bearing bad news. Courtesy of a brand of tainted soy milk, the city of Los Angeles is plunged into a devastating zombie apocalypse. With zombies roaming the streets, James, Bruce, and Emily must come together and barricade themselves inside James’ luxurious home. Battling their own personal struggles, the three must work on themselves and their relationships if they want to live through this apocalyptic event.

Absurd But Mostly Effective Comedy

Main Genre
Comedy

As We Know It is an absurd\ yet sweet zombie flick. It essentially sees a group of friends have the time of their lives in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. While battling their personal struggles and mending broken relationships, the trio watch and constantly reference movies like Waterworld and Star Wars, and they even order a takeaway. Yes, during a zombie apocalypse. It all culminates in a pretty charming dance scene at the end of the film.

As We Know It derives most of its comedy through references. Whether it’s with James and Bruce discussing the supposed perfection of Kevin Costner’s Waterworld, despite it being a bomb with critics and audiences, which Emily is quick to point out, to Bruce asking James to name one Seal song. To which he answers with what he calls the Batman Forever theme, “Kiss from a Rose.” The references are very much for fans of film and pop culture, with continued references to George Lucas’ Star Wars and (arguably better film) THX 1138.

Writers Josh Monkarsh, Brandon DePaolo, and Christopher Francis craft some incredibly silly comedic moments in the film, such as the aforementioned takeaway in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Offering an unassuming but great parallel to the reality of restaurants and takeaway joints during COVID, the wings and kebab shop Abracadabra doesn’t even close during a zombie outbreak. Beyond that, As We Know It pokes fun at other zombie movie outbreaks, and… milk. With the cause of the zombie outbreak being soy milk, As We Know It hurls numerous jokes about milk substitutions (and ‘soy boys,’ perhaps), some of which work.

Ultimately, the comedy in As We Know It is rather obvious and very absurd, but its often endearing enough to work if you suspend some disbelief and are receptive to its very broad satire.

The Great Cast As We Know It

When the comedy lands, it’s often because of the film’s magnetic, punchy cast. As We Know It stars Taylor Blackwell (Resident Alien, American Giggolo), Mike Castle (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Guest House), Oliver Cooper (MindHunter, Red Oaks), Chris Parnell (Rick and Morty, Anchorman), and the legendary Pam Grier (Jackie Brown, Foxy Brown). Castle and Blackwell make for alluring leads, and Chris Parnell and Pam Grier are both fantastic in their small roles. Parnell nails an over-the-top news anchor, and Grier taps into her great career, playing a secret detective with a seeming crush on Bruce.

Yet it’s Oliver Cooper who deserves the most praise, thanks to his lovable and enthralling performance as James’ eccentric, goofy best friend. Every line of dialogue, thanks to Cooper’s performance, was pure gold. There are only a handful of moments with him where the jokes — on paper — shouldn’t work. But with Cooper’s snappy, joyful, and authentic comedic performance, these sporadic anecdotes are much more effective.

The chemistry between Cooper and the rest of the cast is fantastic, too; we could have watched an entire movie of Castle and Cooper, sat on a sofa, spitting weird improv about Waterworld, hot wings, and any old nonsense that comes to mind. Likewise, Cooper’s chemistry with the Abracadabra delivery driver (Danny Mondello) was a delight. Seeing the two praise each other’s Subway sandwich-making was a joy, with both performers oozing with authentic admiration for one another.

Compelling Relationships

Other than a predominantly forced relationship between Emily and James, the rest of the film’s characters boast some intriguing and infectious relationships with one another. Like previously mentioned, the bromance between best friends James and Bruce were among the many highlights of the movie. Comedy aside, seeing the two connect and open up to one another strengthened these characters.

Although the romantic relationship between Emily and James was a little forced, it helps the plot and themes move along. While the film begins with the repercussions of the couple’s messy break-up, the two work together to pick up all the pieces, paving the way for a sweet and satisfying conclusion. It’s all a little too neat, tidy, and unrealistic, but that’s okay, this film knows what it is.

From Buffalo 8, As We Know It releases on November 11th in limited theaters, with a streaming date TBD.

Building PRODUCER

Inspired by mentor, supporter, and film enthusiast Georges Kern (CEO of Breitling), founders Xaver Walser and Paul-Émile Joessel created PRODUCER as a tool not to exploit the market but to create the one thing commercial and film productions are all about—efficiency.

After starting his own commercial film production company and creating commercials for global brands such as JetAviation, Audi, and IWC, to name a few, Walser found himself struggling with the usual chaos of coordinating film productions.

Much like I discovered on my project, Walser realized how many different tools he used just to coordinate—organizing a team, communicating with everyone involved, storing all the contacts, assets, and data, and making it accessible to everyone.

It was a waste of creative energy.

From this struggle, PRODUCER was born. A browser-based application that combines all of the filmmaking steps—development, pre-production, production, post-production, and delivery—and lets you manage them in one place.

The ultimate goal of PRODUCER is to make any production, be it a commercial, music video, documentary, or narrative film, as smooth and frictionless as possible.

It’s a tool that supports all of the following workflows under one roof:

  • Above-the-line hiring process
  • Moodboards
  • Script and storyboard
  • Cast and crew contacts
  • Locations and scouting information
  • Casting
  • Shooting schedule
  • Call sheets
  • Cloud-based post-production collaboration
  • Licensing and contracts
  • And final deliverables

But that’s just what the PRODUCER offers now. The team behind it is always developing and deploying new features and functionalities based on the feedback and needs of the creatives who use it.

The ProFLow view that shows you the entire project at a glance.

PRODUCER

As a producer, having all of that in one place can be the difference between coming in under budget vs. not finishing at all. But while it’s built for the producer, it’s a tool that all departments can make use of, from the Casting Director and Wardrobe Department to the Director and Director of Photography.

Let’s use my 2019 webseries as an example to see how I would have used this tool and how it will change the way you produce your next project.

‘Stupid Cupid’ Postmortem

Stupid Cupid is now streaming on the Reel Women’s Network, but the project didn’t come to fruition without its struggles. Let’s look at each step that PRODUCER encompasses to see how it would have helped ease those struggles back in 2019.

DEVELOPMENT

Written, produced, and starring Sarah Randall Hunt, Stupid Cupid began life as a short film about dating in NYC. From this little project, Hunt and I envisioned a bigger story that would see the main character create their own dating app that would develop a mind of its own.

Managing our drafts was a cumbersome process, as we used Gmail to send drafts back and forth. With seven episodes in total, it was challenging to keep our draft versions organized across two different computers and several different email threads.

In PRODUCER, all drafts can be uploaded and managed in the cloud interface. In addition, all your mood board assets also live in the cloud. These can be shared, commented on, and approved as needed by stakeholders. For us, it would have saved countless hours of doing it on an actual piece of craft board.

PRODUCER Maker Machina Moodboard

Start your moodboard and deliver your final project in one app.

PRODUCER

We also built our storyboard for Stupid Cupid in Apple Keynotes, and while it was a nice application to use, it’s not built for that sort of thing.

PRODUCER allows you to build your storyboard in the cloud and add useful information like camera angle, movement, lens choice, FPS, characters, locations, and even lights and props. There’s even a place for the director’s notes.

Getting all of that info onto our Keynote project would have been time wasted and while our storyboards did enough, they lacked information that was valuable to our crew.

PRE-PRODUCTION

This is where PRODUCER would have been the most useful to our project. When hiring crew and talent, Hunt and I used email and different casting portals to fill out our roster. As you can imagine, managing all of that and keeping it organized was even more difficult than keeping track of our scripts.

For casting, PRODUCER allows you to create character nodes within the application where the creative team can include gender, general and physical descriptions, and other defining traits. Each character node can then be populated with your talent candidates, all with their headshots, names, role choices, and contact info.

This makes casting a breeze as everything is stored in one place.

PRODUCER Maker Machina Casting

Character nodes that you can expanded and populate with your talent options.

PRODUCER

For the crew, all of your pertinent information and contact info is also stored in the cloud, separated by the different departments.

From here, you can manage all of your contacts and hiring choices.

If we had this efficiency on Stupid Cupid, we would have shot the project a year ahead of schedule (and I wish I was being hyperbolic).

From this same online portal, you can organize your location choices and create a shot list, which would have been incredibly useful for our production. When we hired our DOP, we used scanned rough sketches and temp photos in Apple pages to create our shot list. This was then paired down to a text-only document that we used on set.

PRODUCER Maker Machina for MacBook and iPadManaging your production on your desktop, laptop, or iPad.PRODUCER

PRODUCER would have kept our entire location scout and shot list in the cloud, with all of the detailed information your shot list required, as well as photos. And we wouldn’t have needed to print out our shot lists as we could have pulled them up on an iPad while on set.

The time we spent on creating and managing the above documents was immense, and it’s a miracle we made our pages for each day.

PRODUCTION

When we finally arrived in New York to shoot our webseries, two things happened. We lost our lighting gear rental and our UPM. A guardian angel managed to get us our lighting gear, and Hunt worked with our AD to make sure our call sheets and shooting schedules were prepped for each day.

This required a lot of work in Apple Pages, StudioBinder, and a whole lot of paper.

And once again, PRODUCER would have saved our bacon. Our entire call sheet could have been generated using our contact and shot list from within PRODUCER. Then it’s as easy as generating a PDF and sending it out.

PRODUCER Maker Machina Call Sheet

Your call sheets are right there as well.

PRODUCER

POST-PRODUCTION & DELIVERY

Finally, we get to the finish line. Thinking back on this project and the effort we spent finishing this series during a pandemic, it’s another miracle it ever got done.

While I edited and color-graded the project, we had a VFX artist for screen replacement and a sound designer for the final mix and foley. Managing this went as well as you could expect during a pandemic. Getting the assets for each person was easy, but giving notes was a different story altogether. Making notes, labeling them with timecode, and keeping things organized via email wasn’t easy.

Sure, we could have used something like Frame.io, but that would have been another application to add to our list. One that our team would have needed access to.

With PRODUCER, post-production is handled in the same place as everything else and is broken down into eight different steps:

  • First Rough Cut
  • Motion Design
  • First and Second correction
  • Picture Lock
  • Sound
  • Color Grading
  • And Final Film

PRODUCER Maker Machina Post-Production

Supervise post-production right in the application and approve every step.

PRODUCER

In each step, your creative team can upload the file right into PRODUCER. From there, stakeholders view the assets, make timeline markers, add comments, and even draw on the frame to emphasize their corrections.

For Stupid Cupid, this would have saved us considerable time going back and forth with our VFX artist. And because it would have made our workflow more efficient, PRODUCER would have allowed us extra corrections for our sound design thanks to a better use of our time and budget.

As for delivery, PRODUCER lets you upload your contracts and delivery assets into its cloud storage. From here, you can access what you need and send your final renders or Digital Cinema Packages to festivals or clients.

For our project, we had several contracts with musical artists and festival-bound DCPs. I wouldn’t be able to tell you if you asked me where any of that stuff is now.

With PRODUCER, I could send you a link to everything in under a minute.

PRODUCER Gives Your Film A Home

While we managed to finish Stupid Cupid, it was a struggle filled with inefficiency.

If we had PRODUCER as part of our toolkit, I know we would have finished ahead of schedule and under budget. There was a moment there when the project wouldn’t have been finished at all if it wasn’t for our obsession with telling the story.

PRODUCER would not only have guaranteed our success but made the journey painless.

If you have a project coming up visit the PRODUCER site and set up your free account.

PRODUCER Maker Machina Team

The team behind it all.

PRODUCER

This will give you all the tools I’ve just covered for one project. If you have multiple productions in the works, PRODUCER can scale to your needs. But the fact remains, that it will save you time and money, which are two things that will make or break your project.

PRODUCER is a great application that I will be using on my upcoming short film, so I’ll be back to tell you how much of my workflow has changed. Until that film is off the ground, I’ll be in my garage building a time machine so I can go back to 2019.

It’s official: Rabanne x H&M is here, and it’s definitely a collection to be excited about. It marks the brand’s second designer collaboration of the year, after the success of Mugler x H&M, and I tried on every. single. piece. The verdict? Head-to-toe metallic outfits that promise to answer every single party season dress code, and even give the disco ball a run for its money. Yes, really.

I Tried the Entire Rabanne x HM Collection—These Are the Pieces Im Obsessed With

Metallic Lurex Mini Dress

After being granted access to a first look at the full list courtesy of some rather sparkly lookbook images, my interest was piqued. I’m all about the glitz and glam this time of year, anyway—but could Rabanne H&M really be worth the hype?

Short answer: Yes. I left the fashion brand’s showroom feeling heavily attached to several silhouettes, one even being a tracksuit, so trust me when I say that once you see them, try them on and feel the quality of each design for yourself—you will be just as in love as me.

For full transparency, I’m 6 feet tall and a size UK 12, so I didn’t expect much to fit me, as I tend to struggle. That said, I was pleasantly surprised. Where some pieces were more of a squeeze to get into than others (and, indeed, looked shorter on me than they would on the average person), they still flattered and sculpted my figure exactly where I wanted them to once on. That’s the sign of some good quality craftsmanship, if you ask me.

It can be easy to assume a designer has agreed to just have their name added to the label when you hear of high-street collaborations these days, but you can tell the Rabanne design team was present every step of the way when making this collection. The paillette sequin mini dress that’s on everyone’s wishlist, for example, features stealthily hidden press-stud poppers to the back instead of a bulky zip, which, when on, become totally invisible thanks to their clever disguise.

It feels particularly relevant, too, not least because metallics are perfect for Christmas, but because of the Spanish designer’s passing in February this year. Paco Rabanne’s eponymous label has been a trailblazer on the fashion scene since it first presented its era-defining, space age-inspired creations in the 1960s, with creative director Julien Dossena taking over in 1999.

Today, in collab with H&M, you’ll see much of the same iconic silhouettes the French fashion house is known (and adored) for, from sequin mini skirts to sheer dresses, chainmail and lots and lots of sparkle.

It’s no secret that the Swedish retailer has been joining forces with luxury labels for some time now; the first H&M designer collaboration dropped back in 2004 and, in the near-20 years since, one has been announced annually. But between the likes of Stella McCartney, Marni, Maison Margiela, Simone Rocha, and Mugler, home decor items have never been included. Until now. Rabanne H&M will be the very first to include homeware, alongside womenswear, menswear and accessories, so prepare for fun vases and accent decorations for every room of your interiors.

Netflix officially unveiled its renovations of the historic Egyptian Theatre on Thursday, hosting an opening night screening of David Fincher‘s The Killer to showcase the new venue.

The streamer purchased the Egyptian in May 2020, investing three years of renovations to open just in time to showcase its awards season films. The theater will also remain the home of the American Cinematheque, with the art organization planning to independently program movies Friday through Sunday and Netflix using the venue for screenings, premieres and special events Monday through Thursday.

The Killer, which stars Michael Fassbender as an assassin on an international hunt for retribution, was the first of those special events ahead of its release on the streamer on Friday. Following the screening, Fincher and sound designer Ren Klyce took part in a Q&A, where Fincher explained the appeal of a film that is heavily set inside the had of Fassbender’s character and required a lot of voiceover.

“I liked the idea of it seems like if you were this dedicated to one specific POV, that we could do without a lot of backstory, a lot of gabbing about where this guy came from or where the people in the story [came from],” Fincher said, adding, “The way the audience understands the V.O., the existence of any V.O. is this is the truth, right? Why would he be unreliable to himself? And yet most of the people I know are lying to themselves, so I just thought that was kind of an interesting way in.”

The director also explained that he found the hardest part of making The Killer to be fine-tuning the script to where the film was “art house enough to be interesting and enough of a fastball that you can kind of say, ‘We think there’ll be an audience for this’; finding the balance where it was mean enough to interest me and tame enough to be on a streaming service,” he said to laughs from the crowd.

The movie is based on French comic books of the same name, and Fincher teased he may not be done with this world: “We have very interesting ideas for the future.” He also noted that with repeated killings showcased onscreen, he and writer Andrew Kevin Walker had to decide how to make each situation distinct and interesting.

“It’s basically the same thing, you’re taking somebody out to the woodshed who’s not coming back, and how are they going to make a case for themselves [to live]? That may not be enough drama to hang a whole movie on, but out of belligerence, I convinced Andy that it was,” Fincher joked. “He came back with some writing that seems to say, ‘Yeah, if we keep it in this kind of realm and stay this focused on these elements this could be mistaken for a story.’”

He also discussed the use of modern technology in the film, including Fassbender’s character ordering items off of Amazon to assist with his attacks.

“It’s not a screed on technology — I understand how James Bond gets through the world, he has bazillions of dollars behind him and an entire security infrastructure to help him at every turn. Our guy’s a little different, he’s flying coach, and he’s putting his entire wardrobe together as he walks through an airport,” he said. “It wasn’t so much about like ‘Fuck Jeff Bezos,’ it was like can you avail yourself of the technology that would make this easier?”

SAG-AFTRA‘s National Board on November 10 approved the tentative new three-year TV/Theatrical contract agreed upon this week between the guild’s negotiating committee and the AMPTP, and the guild has now released details about that $1.11 billion contract won for its members during a strike that lasted 118 days.

Actors will now get raises to minimum wages of 7 percent in the first year, they’ll have AI protections that require consent for performers getting digital scans on each film, as well as a requirement that the studios must get consent from an estate if an actor has died, and for the first time, a “streaming participation bonus” that’s worth an estimated $40 million per year ($120 million throughout the full term of the deal), which gives added residuals for successful shows and movies released through streaming.

Other gains include higher caps for the pension and health plans, guard rails around self-taped auditions, higher compensation for background performers, makeup and hairstyling requirements for performers of diverse hair and skin types, a requirement for intimacy coordinators, new language for motion capture performers, and much more. The full contract summary will be released publicly on Monday morning.

Guild leaders championed the deal in a press conference fro SAG-AFTRA headquarters in Los Angeles on Friday as the largest deal in the industry’s history. They acknowledged that they did not get everything they wanted from the onset, and 86 percent of the National Board voted to approve the contract and send it to members. But SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher said the deal managed to open up a new “pocket” of revenue from which members could be paid and that the gains made here will grow in future negotiations.

“This is an ongoing living thing, a contract. We’re not over. We’re only just beginning,” she said Friday.

“We collectively feel this deal was made at the point it should’ve been made. It achieves the absolute best,” Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the head of the negotiating committee, said.

The guild also announced Friday members will be able to vote on the contract starting Tuesday and have 21 days until the first week of December to ratify the new contract. SAG-AFTRA will host informational meetings about the new contract over the next several days and weeks.

The guild touted its minimum wage increases as “above-pattern.” That’s because both the Directors Guild and Writers Guild wound up with raises of just 5 percent in the first year. The actors received raises of 7-4-3 across the terms of the contract, and background performers got even higher wages of 11-4-4. The guild originally demanded 11 percent raises in the first year for all performers when the strike began.

As with the writers, AI was the major sticking point into the final days of the strike, with the negotiating committee fighting for specific protections over the use of generative artificial intelligence for creating synthetic performers up until the 11th hour and came together on literally the last day of talks. Drescher said that would be a “dealbreaker” if those specific protections were not achieved.

The actors’ language around AI is far stronger than what the writers got in their deal, and certainly more than the directors. SAG-AFTRA says that employers have to be specific about how an AI model is being used, not just informed through boilerplate language. They’re required to notify the guild and performer when AI is being used. Actors will be paid equivalent to how their digital replica is being used. Background actors will also be protected from having their likeness used without their explicit consent. It even prevents the studios from no longer hiring background actors by using AI instead. And if a fake, synthetic performer is created using features belonging to a specific actor, the studio must get that actor’s consent as well.

Also a big point of contention throughout negotiations was over bonuses for streaming, which the guild is now referring to as a “streaming participation bonus.” Here’s how it works: The top 20% of streaming shows and movies (in the first 90 days on the service) generate a 100 percent bonus based on actor’s existing residuals (which have also gone up in this contract). 75 percent of that money goes to the actor on that successful show, while the remaining 25 percent is re-distributed in a fund administered by the employers and the union. The idea is that everyone can share in a little bit of the wealth generated by the projects making the most money for the streamers.

The guild originally wanted a revenue sharing model, where members would get a flat percentage of all streaming revenue. The AMPTP refused to budge on that point, and they walked away from the table when the guild pivoted to offer a fee of 57 cents per subscriber. The aim was to get the whole membership paid, not just a few. And even though this model is a lot closer to the writers’ own bonus model (which gives a 50 percent bonus residual to the writers of the top streaming shows and movies), it approximates the way in which the guild wanted its members paid in the first place.

Drescher during the press conference said the key goal was to “get into another pocket,” to find a new revenue stream and get additional money for members that wasn’t enshrined in the contract before. But from the beginning, but that the AMPTP repeatedly rebuked any attempt to establish a new form of compensation. It was only until they spoke directly with the CEOs of the member companies that they began to make progress. Drescher said the fund was also one of the last things to come together in talks, and the negotiating committee refused to vote on the deal until they were certain every dollar of the $1.11 billion deal was accounted for.

Drescher, in remarks ahead of contract details being revealed, slammed some of her coverage in the press and leaks from AMPTP members about her demeanor in the negotiating room that were “weaponized” to discredit her. She said she was made out to be “overly aggressive” or “frivolous” and insinuated sexism by saying that Crabtree-Ireland’s demeanor wasn’t criticized in the same way.

Every Taylor Swift Era has a color associated with it, for good or bad. When it comes to 1989 (Taylor’s Version,) I have to go with blue.

Maybe you’ll disagree but looking at the album cover and all of Taylor’s photos, it’s clear blue is a huge part of that album. In a way, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is a lot sadder than I remember so that’s something to consider, too.

In honor of that and the album as a whole, I wanted to share some of Taylor’s best blue outfits from all of her Eras. While I do have something planned for other colors in the future, I wanted to make sure I showed love to the Era we’re all in again.

Of course, we’ll see what album Taylor decides to re-record next as she only has her debut album and Reputation. Either way, this list is going to be looking at 8 of Taylor Swift’s best blue outfits. I am frankly too excited for this one so let’s get into it.

Taylor Swift looks beautiful in blue so let’s see some of her best blue outfits.

1. Taylor Swift’s look at her Eras Tour Movie premiere

The first look had to be none other than Taylor’s recent and iconic blue look. Her dress for the Eras Tour Movie felt like a love letter to 1989. I don’t know what it is about this color mixed with the texture on it and the flowers, it’s just so beautiful. Plus she decided to style her hair curly and pair it with her red lip. It’s just unmatched.

While this is an easy one to start with, I didn’t want to just focus on some of Taylor’s most popular looks as this woman has worn a lot of looks since she’s been in the spotlight. With that being said, don’t be shocked to see some older looks on here so let’s get into the other 7.

2. Taylor Swift wears a blue dress for her big announcement

Let’s be real: Taylor Swift wore a lot of iconic looks during the first leg of the Eras Tour. She decided to revamp her looks for the announcement of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) though. She ditched some of the other colors and went with blue. While she rocked a few different blue looks, I absolutely adore this one on her.

I don’t know what it is about this rich blue, but it looks amazing on her. She just looks like a fairy princess. Let’s be honest with ourselves and just say that she’s the queen of pop. There’s no way she’s giving up that title and this iconic blue dress helped cement her status as she announced 1989 (TV.)

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for the season finale of “Power Book IV: Force,” titled “Power, Powder, Respect,” now streaming on Starz.

Sometimes kingpins can’t have it all. The “Power Book IV: Force” Season 2 finale aired on Friday night, leaving viewers with more questions than answers as fans await the fates of several power players in Tommy’s (Joseph Sikora) story — but showrunner Gary Lennon isn’t sharing too many answers ahead of what he hopes will be Season 3 renewal.

After double-crossing the Serbs and Claudia Flynn (Lilli Simmons), leaving his crew to take over their turf, Tommy finally secures his status as the new heavyweight distributor in Chicago, with Diamond (Isaac Keys) and the rest of CBI (now, bigger than ever thanks to the gang-truce between them and the RDs) at his side. But, working with the Estrada cartel comes with its own sacrifices.

Tommy’s competition, Miguel (Manuel Eduardo Ramirez, who’s also connected to the cartel, wants to take him down by any means necessary after learning of Tommy’s secret relationship with his sister Mireya (Carmela Zumbado). When the head of the cartel, Che (Sammy A. Publes), tells the two drug lords to play nice, Miguel hits Tommy the only other way he knows how – by sending Mireya away, leaving Tommy without his one source of refuge.

Not only does Tommy lose his love, but his relationship with his family hits a new low. After Tommy orchestrated a fake kidnapping to relocate D-Mac (Lucien Cambric), the family’s youngest and most ornery escapes (unbeknownst to Tommy) just to wreak more havoc in Chicago — all in the name of rejoining his gang, CBI. D-Mac’s complicated and harried return puts strain on the family dynamic as JP (Anthony Fleming) and Kate (Patricia Kalember) leads to a heavy climax and ultimate fallout that pushes Kate to relapse and almost overdose.

Struggling to reconcile his troubled relationship with his mother, Tommy is shaken by the thought of losing his mother for good. But, when he finally moves to make things right with JP, his brother shuts him out of their lives and cuts ties.

“One of the mantras that we wanted for the season for Tommy’s arc this season, as he says early on in the season is, ‘I’m tired of being at the bottom of the top. I want to be connect,’” Lennon says of his creative choice. “So, the arc, if you need to put it in a paragraph, is the idea that Tommy Egan got what he wanted — to become a connect, but it cost him everything that he loved. That’s the real hardship. So is it worth it? He’s become a connect, but did he lose Maria forever? Can he get her back?”

Lennon continues: “We thought, instead of just giving Tommy a complete win — he got to win professionally, criminally, if you will. Personally, he had a devastating loss. And that is interesting, because in real life, that’s the way things go. Sometimes at the height of your career, you’re the most miserable because of personal demons or something like that.”

The Flynn family, now fragmented by the loss of their father Walter (Tommy Flanagan), are further at odds as Claudia makes several moves to secure her long-desired spot as Chicago’s queenpin and Vic (Shane Harper) works behind the scenes with federal agents in Stacy Marks’ (Miriam A. Hyman) task force to take down her and Tommy’s operation.

But in the end, Tommy found himself as the clear victor in this battle. After discovering Vic’s involvement with the police, Tommy turns the tables around forcing Vic to work under his command or give up his secret to the rest of CBI. His other move lands Claudia in prison, where he sends a hit out on her and gets his long awaited revenge for the death of Liliana (Audrey Esparza).

While there’s more to be unpacked in regards to the Flynn family’s fate that’s the most Lennon can say of the finale’s family cliffhangers. The rest, he hopes fans will stick around to see when Starz greenlights the show for a third season — a season, he teases, that will leave viewers questioning what they thought they knew of Tommy Egan’s universe.

Lennon took the reigns ahead of Season 2 following former showrunner, Robert Munic’s exit. Munic, who created the series and executive produced the first season, parted ways with the Starz drama over “creative differences,” making way for Lennon (who previously worked on the flagship “Power” series as co-showrunner with Courtney Kemp in Season 6) and his vision to step up in the sophomore iteration of the spinoff.

Part of that vision meant “steering the ship straight again,” as Lennon puts it. Despite stamping a new record with its Season 1 premiere that garnered 3.3 million multi-platform viewers, making it Starz most-viewed premiere to date at that time, Lennon felt there was still much ground to be recovered story-wise in the latest chapter.

“After having seen the the episodes of Season 1, I wanted to bring Tommy back which is really why I titled my 201 Episode, ‘Tommy’s Back,’” says Lennon. “I felt like the Tommy character that I knew and loved from ‘Power’ wasn’t fully there in Season 1. He wasn’t given the material. His dialogue was a little flat, and I just wasn’t on the ride with him, really. My job, I felt like, was take what I was given, lose the fat, keep the elements that I really loved. And then build upon that, which is why I created Miguel and Maria and all that.”

In a way, the season served as a homecoming, as Lennon led the story back to its “Power” roots, reminding viewers why they enjoyed Tommy Egan as a character in the first place. “He’s tough,” Lennon says. “He’s ruthless. He’s criminal. He’s hilarious. He’s got the biggest heart of anybody on the show. His desire for family, his need to love.”

Not only that, but Lennon wanted to bring the signature “grit” that “Power” was known for, back to forefront — which took shape in every character’s arcs this season.

Killings were at an all-time high in Season 2 and no one was safe, as director and this season’s supervising producer, Lisa Demaine previously told Variety. Brothers Diamond and Jenard (Kris Lofton) lost their father, which spun the latter from dealer to user. The Flynn family removed their patriarch in a planned coup that ended in his death. All the while, power players lurked in the shadows hatching schemes to take each other – from double agents like Shanti (Adrienne Walker) and Jenard to the federal agents in the Stacy Marks task force.

When it comes to the rest of Tommy’s story, Lennon says he knows how the dealer’s story ends, and is currently in talks with Starz about how they can make that happen — starting with a third season renewal. But the only tease he’s giving is the phrase: “Never Say Never.”

A recent WestJet passenger is speaking out about a recent experience involving travelling with a wheelchair.

Melanie Carlbeck lives with spina bifida but that hasn’t stopped her and her sister from seeing the world together. They’ve been to Rome, London, Egypt, New York, Barcelona and elsewhere.

The sisters recently flew on WestJet to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to visit their brother.

However, Melanie’s wheelchair never made it on board. She said the airline offered her another wheelchair but it was completely unsuitable and old.

“I couldn’t get in and out of bed,” She said. “My brother had to come in and lift me in and out of bed. Managing in a washroom was really hard. We had to make a number of improvisations.

“It was very hard.”

Melanie said it was even difficult to wash her hands and maneuver the chair.

“It was extremely frustrating,” she added.

Her sister Dianne was able to talk to WestJet staff and have Melanie’s wheelchair transported to Cabo, but it took days to actually arrive.

“We had taken all the precautions,” she said. “We had registered it. I always make sure the tag goes on the front. We, Diane, had said to them, to make sure that the chair goes on the plane.”

When it was time to go home, Melanie and Dianne said they made sure to have numerous conversations about how the wheelchair needed to get on the flight with them and while it did, it arrived in Vancouver damaged.

The arm of the wheelchair had been pulled out of place and Melanie can still use it, but she is frustrated about the entire experience.

In a statement to Global News, WestJet said it sincerely apologizes for the sisters’ experience.

“The Vancouver airport was able to locate the wheelchair on Oct. 31 and forwarded it to Ms. Carlbeck on the first flight to Los Cabos on Nov. 1,” the company said.

“It was reported that the local courier was having issues with delivery, which is why the wheelchair did not get to the guest until Nov. 2. I can confirm that Ms. Carlbeck was given the option to receive a temporary replacement, however, she declined a rental wheelchair from WestJet as she felt it would not be comparable to her own unit.

“WestJet takes the transportation of mobility devices such as wheelchairs extremely seriously and we sincerely apologize that Ms. Carlbeck’s experience did not reflect this.”

Dianne told Global News that she felt they had done everything they could to prepare WestJet for the fact that they would be travelling with a wheelchair.

“We don’t need reimbursement,” she said. “Really. That is not the objective at all. It’s just that (experience) really was hard on (Melanie). Really hard on her. And if we can make any kind of difference, that will be great.”

Transport Canada told Global News Canadians with disabilities have received unacceptable treatment when travelling by air.

In 2019, the federal government adopted the Accessible Canada Act for a barrier-free Canada and introduced regulations requiring airlines, rail companies and ferries to have accessibility plans and establish minimum standards of care.

However, Transport Canada said more needs to be done.

“Following their meeting with Air Canada, Minister Rodriguez and Minister Khera will be meeting with WestJet and other major airlines to review their accessibility plans,” the office said in a statement.

“All Canadians must be treated with dignity and respect. Full stop.“

Melanie said she wanted to talk about her experience because there seems to be a disconnect between airline staff and dealing with people with disabilities.

“The policy is broken apart,” she said. “If there was one. It needs to be some sort of training or a policy that is automatic that, you know, when somebody shows up in a chair, they know what to do and have the personnel to deal with it.”

A recent WestJet passenger is speaking out

With more than six months of labor actions in the rear-view mirror, the industry is preparing to restart dozens of productions that were shut down while writers and actors sought new and better contracts from studios and streamers.

The end of the SAG-AFTRA strike on Nov. 9 cleared actors to return to work (though the union’s membership still needs to ratify the deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers), and also signaled the beginning of prep work on a host of TV series. Media companies are prioritizing getting their broadcast shows running before the holidays, in hopes of salvaging the back end of the network season. Writers rooms have been open for about six weeks, following the end of the Writers Guild of America strike on Sept. 27.

NBC’s comedy Night Court, produced by Warner Bros. TV and Universal Television, will be among the first shows to return to work; it’s slated to resume filming the week of Nov. 13. A number of other shows, including CBS’ FBI franchise and NBC’s Chicago dramas (all of which come from megaproducer Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment), are looking at the week after Thanksgiving to roll cameras.

Starting in the next few weeks should allow enough time for network series to premiere in the first quarter of 2024. Most shows will be shortening their seasons to a range of 10 to 13 episodes, instead of the more typical 18 to 22 for a broadcast show.

Appealing to the Hispanic audience is a complex process, but if there’s any company that knows how to do it effectively, it’s Spanish-language media company TelevisaUnivision. Donna Speciale, TeleviaUnivision president of advertising sales and marketing, and Alessandra Agurcia, VP of sales marketing solutions, sat down at the Variety Studio presented by Canva at Advertising Week in New York City to discuss what it means to cater to the diverse Hispanic community at large.

First and foremost, Agurcia emphasized that the Hispanic community is not a monolith. Producing content in the Spanish language, for a Spanish-speaking audience, isn’t just a matter of translation. It’s about being careful to understand cultural context and their audience.

“We want to be spoken to authentically, so our consumer and our audience really deliver back trust and loyalty to a brand that speaks to them extremely authentically, in a way that resonates with them, that listens to them, because that’s how you’re going to drive your maximum brand impact. It never has been, really, ‘one-size-fits-all,’” said Agurcia.

“It’s important to connect with the consumer beyond just translating something,” Agurcia added. “It is making sure you’re paying attention to those cultural nuances, that you’re understanding the audience and what they want and what they crave and how they like to be spoken to.”

Speciale echoed Agurcia by drawing a connection between both language and culture, saying that at TelevisaUnivision, the objective is to get across both.

“A lot of our audience is bilingual, and Spanish is their first language,” said Speciale. “They like to get their content in Spanish, in culture, in [a] language [that] resonates more with the Hispanic audience, with marketers. There’s a loyalty when we’re speaking to our audience in their language, literally speaking in their language, their culture, that makes this connection that you can’t make when you’re doing it in English.”

As for a technique like dubbing, Agurcia wants to make sure that it’s done in a “purposeful” manner. For Agurcia, dubbing has to similarly focus on expressing cultural context rather than simply maneuvering the language.

“We do dubbing, but it’s not a direct translation ever,” Agurcia expressed, bringing up “food” and “music,” among other cultural elements she describes as being significant to the Hispanic community. “We want to make sure that we highlight those [elements].”

From a business perspective, understanding those elements means understanding the audience. From a social perspective, producing content with those elements sends its own message.

“Hispanics are proud, more so now than ever,” Speciale said. “Now, speaking Spanish, being Latino, Latina, is a powerful, powerful statement.”

Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif tied the knot in December 2021. (Photo: Viral Bhayani and Instagram)

Since Vicky Kaushal’s beloved wife Katrina Kaif was missing from the party, one of the paparazzi told the Uri actor, “Bhabhi ko miss kar rahe hai.”

Vicky Kaushal attended producer Amritpal Singh Bindra’s Diwali bash on Friday, November 10. Among others, the party was also attended by his actor-brother Sunny Kaushal and his rumoured girlfriend Sharvari Wagh. A video from the bash has surfaced on social media in which the three can be seen posing for the paparazzi along with one of their other fans. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Vicky’s fun banter with the shutterbugs.

Since Vicky Kaushal’s beloved wife Katrina Kaif was missing from the party, one of the paparazzi told the Uri actor, “Bhai, Bhabhi ko miss kar rahe hai (We are missing sister-in-law).” To this, the Sam Bahadur actor replied, “Main bhi kar raha hu (Even I am missing her).” Watch the video here:

Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif tied the knot in December 2021 and are undoubtedly madly in love with each other. Last month, the couple celebrated their second Karwa Chauth and needless to say, it was all about love. In the pictures that Katrina shared on social media, she was seen posing with her hubby Vicky Kaushal. While Katrina sported a red and orange saree, Vicky looked dapper as always in a white kurta. The couple was also joined by Vicky’s parents in one of the pictures.

Katrina has been away from the spotlight lately. She is gearing up for the release of her much-awaited movie Tiger 3. The film, which also stars Salman Khan in the lead, will hit theatres on Diwali i.e. November 12 and is expected to rule the box office.

On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal will soon be seen in Sam Bahadur, the trailer of which was released recently in New Delhi. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. His career in the army spanned over four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and his military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh. Sam Bahadur also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in the lead. It will hit theatres on December 1.

Loki season 2’s finale, Glorious Purpose, has left a bittersweet taste for fans of the MCU’s highest acclaimed show.

The bitterness of the MCU’s best season of television coming to an end is tough to swallow, but at least the show ended on a high note! The season finale delivered on all the time shenanigans and big MCU payoffs fans have been yearning for in a Marvel finale.

So while the season did end so spectacularly, is that really the end of Loki? MCU producer Kevin Wright shares some details on if a third season of Loki is in the cards.

Loki Season 3 Receives Hopeful Update

Marvel

In discussing Loki‘s future beyond Season 2, series producer Kevin Wright gave an update on the show’s Season 3 possibilities, noting there are “many, many, many more stories told with Loki” and set within “the Loki world.”

When asked by Deadline if Marvel has a multi-season plan for Loki or if the show is approached season by season, Wright admitted the latter but also acknowledged the existence of talks with the cast “of where [they] see this going:”

“We take it season by season, and there are certainly things that Tom and I and other casts have talked about of where we see this going, and I know there’s some excitement for that internally, but just from a storytelling standpoint, I think we always conceived of seasons 1 and 2 as a whole.”

The producer went on to describe both of the Tom Hiddleston-led seasons as “two chapters of the same book,” but admitted that there are “other stories” or “new books” to be told:

“That these are two chapters of the same book, and that season two is finishing that book, and there are other stories to be told there, but I think they would be new books, if that’s not too coy.”

While some may interpret that as the end of Loki on Disney+, in a separate interview with Collider, Wright again teased “many other books on the shelf” for Loki and his world while also explaining why there’s no set-up for Season 3:

“It was similar to Season 1 in we wanted to tell this story and tell it well, but even in Season 1, we obviously were thinking about where we were going. I would say Season 1 and Season 2 were developed and created as, like, kind of two chapters of the same book. We felt pretty strongly, all of us involved, that Season 2 was about closing that book but that there are many other books on the shelf for this character and for this world. But this felt like it wanted to be the conclusion of these great things that we set up in Season 1. We don’t want to constantly leave people with drastic cliffhangers for our finales.”

Lastly, when directly asked by Variety about plans for a Loki Season 3, the Marvel producer claimed it’s “open-ended,” before, once again, teasing the property’s potential for “many more stories:”

“I think it’s open-ended. We certainly did not develop this season going, ‘We have to tee up Season 3’ — in the way that we did with Season 1, where there was a very specific, ‘Hey, we’re coming back.’ But I also think that where this show goes, there certainly can be many, many, many more stories told with Loki in the ‘Loki’ world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character.”

Contributing Loki‘s Season 3 odds is Marvel Studios’ new direction for its Disney+ shows since, via The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is reportedly “leaning into the idea of multiseason serialized TV” a la Loki instead of the “limited-series format:”

“And just as ‘Loki,’ which returned Oct. 5, marked Marvel’s first season two of a series (out of nine TV shows to date), the studio plans on leaning into the idea of multiseason serialized TV, stepping away from the limited-series format that has defined it. Marvel wants to create shows that run several seasons, where characters can take time to develop relationships with the audience rather than feeling as if they are there as a setup for a big crossover event.”

Does Loki Need a Season 3?

All in all, the odds are in favor of the God of Mischief continuing his Disney+ run.

Loki‘s first season is one of the MCU’s biggest streaming successes to date, the show’s producers clearly have ideas for further storytelling, and now that Marvel Studios is modeling its streaming vision on the God of Mischief, a third season seems all but guaranteed.

Loki’s second season ended with a bittersweet ending. Loki takes his place at the edge of time as the “Loki Who Remains” or “God of Stories” in the MCU.

Is there even a story left for Season 3 to tell?

With Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars on the horizon, Loki’s story will undoubtedly continue in the MCU in some capacity.

Season 2 perfectly sets up Loki’s role as the new ruler of time for Marvel’s Secret Wars movie, so it’s possible the Loki show is finished until then.

A third season dealing with the aftermath of Secret Wars could be a likely route Marvel Studios takes, as the ramifications of that movie will likely need an entire season of television to explain.

It’s been a busy time for Netflix’s live-action anime adaptations. The platform is working on its highly-anticipated live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender, it brought to life a live-action One Piece series, and it gave us an, unfortunately canceled, live-action Cowboy Bebop show. We even recently heard that Netflix is teaming with Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, for a live-action series adapting the anime Death Note. On top of this impressive list, Netflix has also revealed more exciting news about its adaptation of the anime Yu Yu Hakusho. Here’s what we know about Netlfix’s live-action Yu Yu Hakusho adaptation so far.

Netflix’s Live-Action Yu Yu Hakusho Releases Teaser Trailer

More About the Netflix Series

As fans of the series know, Yu Yu Hakusho tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi. Yusuke Urameshi begins the tale as a troubled high school student who dies performing a good deed. He then finds himself with neither a place in heaven nor hell. After being revived and passing a test, he transforms into an “Underworld Detective” who investigates cases involving demons. According to Netflix, Yusuke Urameshi “becomes entwined in a mystery that envelopes the human, demon and spirit worlds.” All elements we can expect to see in the upcoming live-action series adaptation of the anime.

In a release, Yu Yu Hakusho‘s director Sho Tsukikawa further shares, “When I first heard about Yu Yu Hakusho receiving a live-action adaptation, I honestly wondered if it would even be possible—but after being presented with the producer’s vision and possibilities with Netflix, my expectations grew, and I found myself burning with passion to make this project come to life.” That certainly sounds promising for fans of the anime.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho will premiere on December 14, 2023. We can’t wait to see Yusuke Urameshi take on demons in this anime adaptation whenever it arrives.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has launched a new PlayStation 5 advert to kick off its holiday season marketing campaign.

Sony is releasing a new PS5 model this month. Like the launch model, the new one will be available in standard and Digital editions.

According to the company, the new console has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and in weight by 18% and 24% respectively compared to the current one.

Unlike the launch model, the new PS5 Digital Edition will support an attachable Blu-ray disc drive, which can be purchased separately.

The new PS5 is expected to debut on November 8 in the US, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Modern Warfare 3 bundles on the way.

Perez said Sony is “entering a holiday season with more console supply than we’ve had since the launch of PS5” in November 2020.

She added “To celebrate this moment, we’re welcoming gamers around the world to experience the emotional power of immersive play on PS5 with our new spot, ‘Feel it Now on PlayStation 5.’

“Through the creative imagination of developers and innovative use of console features like 4K visuals, 3D audio, the ultra high-speed SSD, and the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, gaming on PS5 evokes heightened sensations.

“Our latest spot highlights the breadth of emotions players feel while exploring PS5 worlds, from a snapshot of fear, coming face to face with a Clicker from The Last of Us Part I, to the joy of meeting mooncalves from Hogwarts Legacy and befriending a frost wolf in Final Fantasy XVI.”

SIE senior vice president and head of global marketing Eric Lempel said in a recent interview that this will be the first Christmas shopping season that anyone who wants to buy a PS5 will be able to find one.

“Our outlook on PlayStation 5 is really strong,” he told Barron’s. “We’re expecting one of the strongest seasons in our history in terms of console sales.”

Sony is aiming to ship 25 million PS5 consoles during its current fiscal year ending in March 2024. If achieved, it would beat a 25-year-old console sales record set when the original PlayStation shipped 22.6 million units over a 12-month period.

Xbox kicked off its big holiday season marketing campaign last month with a new live action trailer titled ‘Wake Up and Dream’.
