Jamie Foxx, 55, shared more details about the “medical complication” that left him hospitalized in April in an Instagram video on July 22. The Beat Shazam star filmed himself speaking to fans, where he began by thanking everyone for their love and support. Although he did not get into the specifics of what landed him in the hospital, he did say that he was “sick,” and shut down rumors that he was left “blind” or “paralyzed.”

“I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” Jamie admitted. “I know a lot of people were waiting and wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me, trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

Jamie gave a special shoutout to his daughter and his sister for helping him through the difficult time, and for keeping the details about his condition “airtight” as he recovered. He said they “saved [his] life” as they assisted in his recovery. The actor also added, “I went to hell and back. My road to recovery also had some potholes, but I’m coming back and I’m able to work. I wanna thank the people that let me work and say I love everybody and I love all the love that I got.”

Jamie was first hospitalized for a “medical complication” on Apr. 12, per an official statement shared via his daughter Corinne Foxx’s social media account. “From the Foxx family. We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” the statement read.

Exactly one month later, on May 12, Corinne again addressed the incident, insisting that the actor had been out of the hospital “for weeks,” despite vaarious reports that his health was declining. “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild,” she wrote via Instagram Stories. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”

On May 15, TMZ reported that Jamie had begun physical therapy at a rehab center in Chicago. Corinne has visited her famous father at the physical rehab center several times since he’s been there. Jamie’s friend and management team member, Dave Brown, was also present to check in on the Oscar winner’s recovery.

In early July, Jamie was seen out in public for the first time when fans caught him riding on a boat in Chicago. He has since been seen playing golf and has even gotten back to work, per an Instagram post on July 19.

Greg Gutfeld gladly took the bait James Cameron dangled when the “Terminator” director joked he warned society about the dangers of AI way back in 1984 with the making of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger film.

It was all the Fox News host needed to crack one back at Cameron.

And Gutfeld being Gutfeld, it got personal.

“Cameron’s had five failed marriages,” Gutfeld said, delivering the punchline at the close of a five-minute segment on “The Five” about Cameron’s comments. “Didn’t predict that.”

“Let’s not call them failures,” cohost Jesse Watters piled on, before moving the show onto other topics.

For his part, Gutfeld, 58, appears to have waited until the tender age of 40 to get married. Nearly 20 years later, his marriage to former Russian model, fashion stylist and Maxim Russia photo editor, Elena Moussa — whom he “foolishly hit on for three days” after meeting her — seems to be working out.

The British rock band The 1975 protested Malaysia’s anti-LGBTQ laws Friday with a prolonged kiss between bandmates at a Kuala Lumpur music festival. The set was then halted by organizers.

Frontman Matty Healy and bassist Ross MacDonald embraced and kissed during The 1975’s set during the Good Vibes festival, causing the performance to be stopped due to “non-compliance with local performance guidelines,” the event said in a statement.

Before the kiss, which you can watch in video at the top of this post, Healy had paused the band’s performance to make a speech, much of which was punctuated with profanity.

“I made a mistake,” Healy said. “When we were booking shows, I wasn’t looking into it. I don’t see the f–king point… of inviting The 1975 to a country and then telling us who we can have sex with.”

Homosexuality is a crime in the heavily Muslim nation.

“All right, we gotta go,” Healy said after the kiss. “We just got banned from Kuala Lumpur, I’ll see you later.”

Fahmi Fadzil, Malaysia’s chief communications minister, said in a statement that he and local authorities would look into the performance and seek an explanation from event organizers, calling The 1975 performance “very disrespectful.”

Wire service media reports said the band could not be reached for comment.

According to reports, Healy drew similar attention to the band at a 2019 concert in the United Arab Emirates after kissing a male fan. The UAB is also known for its anti-LGBTQ laws.

In the most recent episode of Secret Invasion, Marvel just revealed that Nick Fury did something rather gnarly following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

A good chunk of the latest MCU Disney+ show focused on Samuel L. Jackson’s hero and what exactly he’s been up to since The Blip. Needless to say, he’s been off his game.

The operative even spent years aboard a space station, all to keep away from Earth. All it took to come back was the risk of a secret Alien infiltration.

Turns out, though, he didn’t just immediately book it off Earth when he returned from Thanos’ snap.

Nick Fury Collected the Avengers’ DNA

Secret Invasion‘s latest episode revealed that Nick Fury did something pretty gross, both literally and ethically, following the battle at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

The reveal happened towards the end of Episode 5 while Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury was talking to Olivia Colman’s Sonya Falsworth.

Marvel

Fury shared details about Operation Harvest, where, following the Battle of Earth during Endgame, the former head of SHIELD sent in Skrulls to “collect the DNA” of nearly Avenger:

“Nearly every Avenger spilled blood in the Battle of Earth—even Carol Danvers. In the aftermath, some were sent in to collect that DNA. Some with the ability to blend in. Nobody knew about them but me and the collectors, led by [Gravik].”

Samuel L. Jackson, Secret Invasion, Nick Fury
Marvel

It’s pretty gross to think about Nick and his operative going around scrapping blood off of rubble or collecting whatever other fluids left the combatants as they fought for the very universe.

Secret Invasion
Marvel

This means that Fury’s magical vial theoretically gives him access to the powers of Carol Danvers, The Hulk, a talking Raccoon, Captain America’s Super Soldier Serum, and more.

Captain America, Avengers: Endgame
Marvel

Funny enough, this also means Fury probably has DNA from Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. Though, it’s hard to tell what exactly benefits that particular strand would have for anyone.

Though, thinking about it, perhaps that DNA could unlock some crucial data and technology, leading to the events of Armor Wars.

Iron Man, Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr.
Marvel

What’s Nick Fury Going to Do With the Avengers’ DNA?

There’s still lots of questions floating around about what it is exactly Nick Fury would want to do with all that DNA.

Is it truly just another one of his fail-safe plans? Further more, is it one to help protect the world from threats, or a backup against heroes like the Avengers themselves?

Having a collection of the Avengers’ DNA out there isn’t the safest plan, as Fury is quickly learning. It’s also a perfect example of what Bruce Banner was so worried about in She-Hulk.

Gravik could be extremely close to gaining the ability to Hulk out, all because the hero once bled on the battlefield. Though, perhaps the Banner is one of the few who didn’t leave any DNA behind.

Then there’s the fact that project Harvest all boils down to one vial of clear liquid.

What exactly is inside of it? It doesn’t look like blood; perhaps lots of sweat, and maybe some tears?

When James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy debuts in theaters on July 11, 2025, it will come with an enormous cast that will portray many fan-favorite characters from the DC brand.

Superman: Legacy will truly kick off the very first chapter of the new DCU with a story centered around the Man of Steel.

It was recently confirmed that actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were cast as the two leads of the film, but there are also many other names that are set to appear on-screen.

As the release date gets closer and the production of Superman really gets off the ground, even more names will be announced.

The Cast of James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy

1.) David Corenswet – Clark Kent/Superman

David Corenswet

Following the announcement that Henry Cavill would not be returning to the world of DC to reprise his role as Superman, many fans instantly began fan-casting who would be the next Last Son of Krypton.

30-year-old David Corenswet ultimately landed the role after a long audition process. The Pearl star will not only be the next actor to don the red cape but also the new DCU’s true lead actor as a new era is ushered in.

2.) Rachel Brosnahan – Lois Lane

Rachel Brosnahan, Lois Lane
Rachel Brosnahan

There can’t be a Superman without Lois Lane by his side, so when Corenswet’s casting was announced, so was the actress that will play Lois Lane.

The role was given to Emmy-winner Rachel Brosnahan, and James Gunn even confirmed that “the primary story” of Superman: Legacy “most definitely revolves around Superman and Lois,” so fans can expect her to play a major role in the upcoming movie.

3.) Nathan Fillion – Guy Gardner/Green Lantern

Nathan Fillion, Guy Gardner
Nathan Fillion

Nathan Fillion worked with Gunn on multiple past projects such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Suicide Squad.

This time, however, he will portray the Guy Gardner take on Green Lantern, who is known in lore as being a bit on the arrogant side.

Fillion actually already has some experience playing Green Lantern as he voiced Hal Jordan’s version of the character in multiple animated projects such as The Death of Superman film.

4.) Isabela Merced – Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl

Isabela Merced, Hawkgirl
Isabela Merced

The Nth metal will likely be on full display in Superman: Legacy due to the announcement that Hawkgirl will be one of the film’s heroes. If she is wielding her iconic mace from the comics, Hawkgirl will be a major ally to Superman if any threats come their way.

This character will be played by Transformers: The Last Knight and Dora and the Lost City of Gold star Isabela Merced, who will likely become a fan favorite after viewers see her in the upcoming film.

5.) Edi Gathegi – Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific

Edi Gathegi, Mr. Terrific
Edi Gathegi

Michael Holt, also known as Mr. Terrific, is one of the most brilliant minds in the world of DC. He will be played by Edi Gathegi, who already has experience portraying a superhero with his role as Darwin in Marvel and Fox’s X-Men: First Class.

In the comics, Mr. Terrific ends up becoming a member of the Justice Society of America, so his involvement in Superman: Legacy could set him up for a recurring role in the future once the JSA gets established in the DCU.

6.) Anthony Carrigan – Metamorpho

Anthony Carrigan, Metamorpho
Anthony Carrigan

James Gunn recently confirmed that the hero by the name of Metamorpho will be showing up in Superman: Legacy and he even expressed his excitement to work with the actor that will be portraying the character – Anthony Carrigan.

Metamorpho is a rather unique hero in DC Comics that can morph his entire body into any element, meaning he can prove rather useful in any situation.

Just as Edi Gathegi has an acting credit for a comic book movie, Carrigan also has some experience in the superhero genre as he played Victor Zsasz in the Gotham television series.

Other Rumored Characters For Superman: Legacy

Lex Luthor, DC Comics
DC Comics

Although there are only six major actors and characters confirmed to be appearing in Superman: Legacy, other characters are expected to show up in the film as well.

It’s difficult to craft a Superman story without Lex Luthor playing some role in the mix, and the genius antagonist is definitely going to be a part of the franchise thanks to a confirmation from James Gunn, so the chances that he will be introduced in Superman: Legacy are high.

Brothers Alexander Skarsgard and Bill Skarsgard have both been rumored to take up the mantle of Lex Luthor in the upcoming DCU, and Nicholas Hoult’s name has even been thrown around as well.

Perry White, DC Comics
DC Comics

Gunn also indirectly confirmed that Perry White will be appearing in the film, which makes sense seeing as how he is the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet newspaper.

It is unclear just how much the Daily Planet will be seen in Superman: Legacy, but since it is such an important part of Clark and Lois’ lives, fans can expect Perry to have a decent-sized role.

Jimmy Olsen, DC Comics
DC Comics

At the same time that Gunn mentioned Perry White, he also named Jimmy Olsen and talked about how close he is to Clark Kent.

Gunn has publicly stated his love for the All-Star Superman comic series, and seeing as how big of a role Jimmy Olsen has in that run and in other Superman stories, it will not be surprising if Clark’s best friend shows up in the movie.

Krypto the Superdog, DC Comics
DC Comics

Krypto the Superdog is another side character that will likely be making some sort of appearance in Superman: Legacy.

Gunn was already asked about the dog’s potential involvement, and the writer/director admitted his “interest” in the character.

In another instance, Gunn was asked online by a fan if he likes Krypto, and Gunn responded by saying, “No I love Krypto.”

However, Gunn basically confirmed that Krypto would be featured in an interview alongside Chris Pratt, where Gunn jokingly offered the role to Pratt.

The Authority, DC Comics
DC Comics

Another group of characters rumored to show up in Superman: Legacy is The Authority, a team of superpowered characters similar to the Suicide Squad.

The Authority are going to have their own film in Gunn’s new DCU, but the characters could start showing up in Legacy and it was even noted  that they will be at odds with the titular Superman.

Superman: Legacy is expected to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

Since the dawn of time, or at least the dawn of glossy fashion magazines, Calvin Klein ads have been synonymous with stripped-down sexuality and not-so-subtle boundary-pushing.

And the latest incarnation of Calvin Klein ads feels as familiar as an old pair of jeans yet oh so 2023—in a good way. Think ripped abs and popping quads, only this time on female athletes instead of male pop stars. Alex Morgan and other 2023 Women’s World Cup superstars are the latest celebs to slip into nothing but cotton underwear and denim for their own play on the “Calvins or Nothing” concept.

Other famous footballers featured in the campaign, shot by photographer Brianna Capozzi, include U.K. star Chloe Kelly, Japan’s Mana Iwabuchi, France’s Kenza Dali, and Mary Fowler of Team Australia. The collection of black-and-white close-up and full-body portraits “highlight each woman in an intimate setting designed to reveal their confidence and sensuality,” in the words of the fashion brand.

Jamie Lee Curtis enjoyed a celebratory moment just before taking the stage at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday to promote Mother Nature, which is her first graphic novel and takes aim at the forces contributing to climate change.

“I saw this book in print two hours ago for the first time,” said Curtis, who was joined onstage by her co-writer, Russell Goldman, and artist Karl Stevens. “I’ve seen it in a PDF form, and it is thrilling.” She did not waste time emphasizing the project’s ecologically minded message: “We’re fucking the world. There is a possibility of change, but we’re going to have to do it, and I’m really thrilled to see how enthusiastic you guys are for this beautiful piece of work that Karl has made for us.” Her points were met with enthusiastic applause from the supportive audience.

Featuring plenty of gruesome violence, Mother Nature is out Aug. 8 from Titan Comics and centers on Nova Terrell, a resident of Catch Creek, New Mexico, who seeks payback against a nefarious oil company that was linked to her father’s death. Curtis explained that she initially told husband Christopher Guest that she had an idea for a screenplay and that he encouraged her to write it herself. Ultimately, the project’s team decided it would work best as a graphic novel; this marks the first time that Curtis, who is a New York Times best-selling author and is soon to release a new children’s book, has worked as a creator in the medium.

During her time on stage, Curtis noted that the timing was right for the project, given the extreme weather recently experienced by much of the nation. “It’s happening today!” she exclaimed. “We are the hottest we’ve ever been in this country this week. I mean, talk about good timing. Seriously, we couldn’t be talking about something more important.”

Curtis, who said there was a chance for Mother Nature to be adapted into a film down the road, emphasized that she doesn’t see climate change as a political issue. “I’m not proselytizing,” the Halloween actress said. “I don’t care what side you’re on. It’s happening, and there are things we can do to ameliorate it and to try to stem the tide, excuse the pun. Shit is happening, and so it feels absolutely on point right now.”

Later, a fan asked the star to recall some of the favorite successes in her life, and Curtis brought up her two daughters and also her work in Everything Everywhere All at Once, which earned the performer her first Oscar earlier this year. “The greatest moments have been things I never saw coming — my family, my personal life, my work,” she said. “If you think I saw Deirdre Beaubeirdre coming. If you think I was sitting there thinking, ‘Hmm, we’re going to make a little indie in 38 days in Simi Valley, California, for $12 million, and we’re all going to end up winning Oscars,’ you’re crazy people.”

During the panel, Curtis did not address the ongoing actors strike, which has kept performers from promoting their acting work at Comic-Con. The labor disputes involving SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild have meant that this year’s panels largely went without the big names and recognizable faces that typically thrill crowds and lead to lengthy lines for prominent events.

Jamie Lee Curtis enjoyed a celebratory moment

The group that bargains on behalf of the studios issued a point-by-point response on Friday to SAG-AFTRA, arguing that the union walked away from a deal with more than $1 billion in additional wages, residuals and pension and health contributions.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers also argued that it has accepted the union’s demand for “informed consent” on the use of artificial intelligence — which has become one of the major issues in the week-old strike.

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the union’s top negotiator, alleged on July 13 that the studios want to scan background actors and replicate their likenesses “for the rest of eternity” without consent. The AMPTP has adamantly said that is false, and that its proposal includes both consent and compensation.

SAG-AFTRA is not trying to ban AI outright, as some high-profile members stand to profit from licensing their likeness rights. But the union is insisting that performers must give “informed consent” and that the right to use AI on additional projects must be separately bargained.

Crabtree-Ireland has said that the studios’ position is unacceptable because it would allow background actors to sign away their likeness rights on future projects at the time of initial employment, when they would not know how their image could be used and would have no meaningful opportunity to refuse.

“That’s not real consent. That is fictional consent,” Crabtree-Ireland said in a Zoom call with SAG-AFTRA members on Tuesday. “If you want to get hired and you have to grant consent to use of your digital replica for eternity, your choice is accept the job and accept those terms, or refuse the job and you don’t get hired. That is a dilemma that is not fair for our members.”

But in its statement on Friday, the AMPTP said that it has agreed to informed consent, including separate bargaining for AI for background actors, which “must take place at the time of use.” The AMPTP stated that it conveyed that agreement verbally to the union during bargaining on July 12.

Crabtree-Ireland said in a statement Friday afternoon that he stands by his prior characterization.

“We will respond to this latest round of AMPTP spin when we have had a chance to review their document,” he said. “We unequivocally stand by the accuracy of everything we have said regarding the proposals.”

In the document, the studio group also explained its opposition to the union’s proposal for a share of streaming revenue. SAG-AFTRA has said that members should get 2% of the revenue attributed to each show.

The streamers have refused to release viewership data, so the union is proposing to assess value based on estimates from a third-party data company, Parrot Analytics.

The AMPTP said that its negotiators repeatedly conveyed their “fundamental objections” to the idea and asked that it be removed from discussions as it was a “roadblock” to getting a deal.

The studio group argued that the production companies — which would be obligated to pay the actors under the proposal — are not the ones that receive streaming revenue.

“The Union is proposing that performers share in the rewards of a successful show, without bearing any of the risk,” the studio group stated. “The Union proposes to ‘share’ in success, but not in failure. That is not sharing.”

The AMPTP argued that an “alternate path” will be needed to get an agreement. It also noted that it has offered a 76% increase in foreign streaming residuals on the biggest platforms, matching the deal that was ratified by the Directors Guild of America.

The studio group went into extensive detail on many other issues, only some of which have figured in the public discourse about the strike.

SAG-AFTRA began picketing at the studios on July 14, joining the Writers Guild of America, which has been on strike since May 2.

There has been no sign from any of the parties of a move to restart talks. SAG-AFTRA leadership has said that it is open to resuming negotiations at any point, but that the studios have said it may be “a while.”

“While we have made some progress, the AMPTP stonewalled us on many issues,” Crabtree-Ireland said in the statement Friday. “On the three core issues that we have been talking about, the companies have not done what they need to do to treat performers fairly and we are not going to have a deal until they do.”

The three “core” issues are AI, streaming revenue sharing, and increases in minimums. SAG-AFTRA is demanding increases of 11%, 4% and 4% over the three years of the contract, which it says is necessary to keep pace with inflation. The AMPTP is offering 5%, 4% and 3.5%, which it says is “historic by any measure,” and which matches the DGA terms.

Tony Bennett.

Tony Bennett’s loved ones shared a message of love and joy following the singer’s death on Friday, July 21.

“Thank you to all the fans, friends and colleagues of Tony’s who celebrated his life and humanity and shared their love of him and his musical legacy,” Bennett’s wife, Susan Benedetto (née Crow), and his eldest son, Danny, wrote in a joint statement via Instagram as tributes continued to pour in. “From his first performances as a singing waiter in Queens to his last performances in 2021 at Radio City Music Hall, Tony delighted in performing the songs he loved and making people happy.”

The duo shared a photo of the late musician (real name Anthony Dominick Benedetto) performing at Radio City Music Hall on his 95th birthday in August 2021. “And as sad as today has been for all of us we can find joy in Tony’s legacy forever,” the statement concluded.

The heartwarming message came hours after news broke of Bennett’s death. He was 96.

Bennett’s publicist confirmed the news to the Associated Press, noting that he passed away in New York. His cause of death was not revealed at the time, but Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016.

“Tony left us today, but he was still singing the other day at his piano and his last song was, ‘Because of You,’ his first #1 hit,” Bennett’s team wrote via social media on Friday. “Tony, because of you we have your songs in our heart forever. ❤.”

The legendary jazz singer, who won more than 18 Grammy Awards throughout his nearly seven-decade career, would have turned 97 on August 3.

In addition to his wife, whom he wed in 2007, Bennett is survived by his four kids from past relationships.

Bennett tied the knot for the first time in 1952, exchanging vows with an art student named Patricia Beech. That same year, he released his debut album, Because of You. The former couple welcomed sons Danny and Dae in 1952 and 1955, respectively. Bennett and Beech separated in the 1960s and finalized their divorce in 1971.

The “Way You Look Tonight” singer moved on with Sandra Grant, whom he wed in 1971. The pair welcomed daughters Joanna and Antonia in 1970 and 1974, respectively. While Bennett and Grant split in 1979, they weren’t legally divorced until 2007.

Bennett and Benedetto subsequently said “I do,” and they were married for more than 15 years before his death.

The statement from Bennett’s family was just one of many mourning Bennett’s passing on Friday. The musician received an outpouring of love from fellow singers and other celebrity admirers.

“Rest in peace, Tony. You were the epitome of a gentleman with a God given one-of-a-kind voice,” Carrie Underwood captioned a slideshow of pics of herself and Bennett over the years. “It was truly a great honor of my career and of my life to get to share the stage with you…”

Reba McEntire also gushed over the late singer via social media, writing, “I had the pleasure of being around @itstonybennett twice in my career, both times at Christmas. He was a gentleman and a music icon and his voice will live on for years to come. Rest in peace, Tony.”

Audiences who’ve attended film festivals or cultural events in the past few years have no doubt heard their share of land acknowledgements, in which the hosts make a point of recognizing the Indigenous tribes who served as the traditional custodians of the space on which they’ve gathered. Though intended to convey respect and awareness, these messages appear to have a kind of triggering effect on some people, who react as if witnessing the first step on a slippery slope to the more controversial idea of reparations.

In “Lakota Nation vs. United States,” land acknowledgements are the main attraction, and reparations may well be the end goal. Co-directed by Jesse Short Bull and Laura Tomaselli, this essential and largely unprecedented Native-issues essay film takes a head-on approach, citing “white fragility” and America’s general unwillingness to confront its treatment of Indigenous peoples as obstacles to resolving decades of unfair treatment. While the subject has been well-covered by the news media, this lucid and ultimately uplifting documentary lets the Lakota speak for themselves, reflecting a much different sensibility. The resulting report feels nothing short of definitive as the duo condenses a wide range of philosophical, spiritual and historical concerns into a thoughtful (and artful) two-hour package.

Striking an unexpectedly poetic tone, the helmers start by inviting Layli Long Soldier, an eloquent Ogalala Lakota writer and activist, to supply a dolorous but hopeful voiceover to the project. They also dedicate approximately a quarter of the running time to achingly beautiful footage of the skies, streams and terrain in question — stunning widescreen panoramas that evoke the unspoiled beauty of land which Americans perceive in terms of property to be owned and exploited, as opposed to “a living entity [that] doesn’t belong to any one person, or even any one nation,” in the words of Craig Howe.

Central among the film’s concerns are promises made (and later broken) by the United States in the peace treaty of Fort Laramie, which established the Great Sioux Reservation in 1868. It read, “the United States now solemnly agrees that no persons, except those herein designated and authorized so to do … shall ever be permitted to pass over, settle upon, or reside in the territory described in this article.” But the government couldn’t keep what a voice heard here calls “the light-eyed people” from entering the territory. Six years later, Gen. George Custer led an expedition, gold was discovered, and efforts began to renege on the agreement, formalized by the Dawes Act of 1887.

The steps by which the United States took back 90 million acres and reallocated it to settlers are too complicated for the movie to untangle, but the overall picture couldn’t be more clear, compounded by a litany of other injustices. The doc explains how guns were confiscated and buffalo killed to force Natives into a European-style farming system, how Indigenous religions were outlawed and children sent away to be Christianized in cruel boarding schools. It also deconstructs how mainstream American media otherized the Natives, making “invasion look like self-defense.” A few well-chosen film clips go a long way to make the point that Hollywood has been complicit in misrepresenting Indigenous interests as recently as Spielberg’s 2012 “Lincoln” biopic, which omits the celebrated president’s decision to execute the “Dakota 38” the same week he signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Lest the material overwhelm, the filmmakers package their dense talking points into digestible segments, relying on all that arresting nature footage to break up the more depressing historical material. Working magic with archival materials, co-director Tomaselli (doubling as editor) crafts complex but coherent montages of treaties, maps, news reports and egregious vintage educational material, counting on audiences to bring a critical eye as she fills in gaps from the average American’s history curriculum.

For more than a century on screen, the cowboys have beaten the Indians, and yet, in the long arc of history, the balance could well swing the other way. Solutions don’t come easy when attempting to rectify decades of dehumanization, subjugation and erasure, but the Native tribes have not given up their fight. The doc gives voice to activist members of the Land Back movement, while providing valuable context to their struggle, as seen in demonstrations at Standing Rock and peaceful protests outside President Trump’s 2020 Mt. Rushmore rally. In targeting this particular monument, carved into the Lakota’s ancestral lands, the movie boldly pits Native grievances against the country’s romantic image of its own past. But the issue, like the land, is far from settled.

Joy Reid followed the lead Friday night of Vice President Kamala Harris in slamming Florida for guidelines that will require public middle schools to teach students there were benefits to being an American slave.

Reid, speaking to MSNBC viewers on “The ReidOut,” called out the racist requirements of Ron DeSantis’ Department of Education for what they were but went further, explaining the motivations behind them.

“They’re doing it because they want to raise a generation of people who will be conservative enough to give them their damn tax cuts, to give them the money they want and the deregulation they want,” Reid said. “And they’re terrified of young people, because young people already are woke — too late.”

Reid’s show rolled coverage of Harris’ trip to Jacksonville, Florida, and the speech she delivered on Friday. In it, Harris lambasted the notion there were benefits to slavery.

“It involved torture,” an emotional and physically animated Harris said with the expressions and body language of someone who can’t believe they’re having to say and do what they are having to say and do. “It involved taking a baby from their mother. It involved some of the worst examples of depriving people of humanity in our world.”

Harris went on to excoriate the Florida Department of Education’s new guidelines.

“They dare to push propaganda on our children. This is the United States of America,” Harris said. “We’re not supposed to do that.”

Under the guidelines, middle school students will be taught that slavery gave Black people a “personal benefit” because of job skills they developed during their lives as slaves. High schools, meanwhile will be required to teach students that Black people were also violent during the many race riots and massacres of the 20th century perpetrated by white supremacists.

“You have to wonder why the people who are passing these laws don’t assume their children, if they are white, will not identify with the people who are heroic in history and the abolitionists,” Reid said. “They just assume their children are going to identify with the enslavers, so they’re trying to make the enslavers look good.”

Reid said the guidelines were part of the “war on woke,” which is “really a war against young people.”

“An extreme attack on how they think, exist, speak and especially how they understand the word they live in,” Reid said.

Jeff Franklin, the creator of Full House, is looking back at how the show began and recalls a moment when John Stamos almost backed out of the series.

The writer-producer-director appeared on the first episode of Dave Coulier’s new podcast, Full House Rewind, which they dedicated to the late Bob Saget.

While talking about the show’s first table read with the actors, Franklin noted that there was a “room full of studio and network executives and everybody who could possibly be there. They were all there to see Stamos, I think.”

But Franklin recalled that “Jodie [Sweetin] just stole the whole thing” with her humor, which he said left Stamos upset because he was afraid the younger stars were going to steal the spotlight.

Coulier chimed in and said he remembers “walking out with John” afterward when the Scream Queens actor told him, “The whole show’s gonna be her. We can’t do this.”

Franklin added that he learned “much later” that Stamos was actually “so upset about having to play second fiddle to these really funny kids, that he went out and called his agent and said, ‘This is a mistake. Get me off this show.’”

But the show’s creator said he eventually “made his peace with the fact that he’s working with the kids and animals and being upstairs.” Which ultimately worked out since the sitcom went on to amass great success, running for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. The show also scored a revival in 2016 with Fuller House, which Franklin also created.

Stamos played Uncle Jesse on the show, alongside Saget, Coulier, Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen and Lori Loughlin.

Later during the podcast episode, Franklin also explained how the fan-favorite trio, Danny, Jesse and Joey, came to be since John Posey was initially cast as Danny Tanner in the pilot episode.

Franklin explained that Saget was always at the top of his list for the role of the father, but was unavailable at the time the show started filming.

Then, when his schedule suddenly opened up, Franklin decided to put together a “secret chemistry test” on the ’80s sitcom Perfect Strangers, with Saget, Coulier and Stamos, so he “had something to show people because Bob was not an actor either. He’d done a couple guest shots, but he wasn’t really an actor and he wasn’t Bob Saget yet.”

Although he said it “was tough” to “break John Posey’s heart” as well as spend about $1 million to reshoot the pilot, Franklin knew after the chemistry test that Saget was meant to lead the Tanner family.

“I just had this gut instinct, from the beginning, that Bob could be one of those classic TV dads,” he added. “I just fought for him as hard as I could. I said, ‘This is going to make the show so much better. We have to do this.’ It took a lot of convincing and they finally said OK.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Stamos’ rep for comment.

Brian De Palma has directed Scarface.

Scarface gained cult status because of its raw portrayal of the drug lords and their world.

The 1932-Hollywood film Scarface, starring the stalwart Al Pacino, is one of the most widely-loved classic films of all time. This gangster film gained cult status because of its raw portrayal of the drug lords and their world. Al Pacino plays the role of cocaine kingpin Tony Montana. His performance in the film is commendable. He plays a Cuban immigrant who takes over a drug cartel in this film, directed by Brian De Palma. Bollywood directors have sought inspiration from Scarface more than once. Let’s take a look at some of the hit Hindi films, which were reportedly based on Scarface.

Mujrim (1989) – This film revolves around Shankar (Mithun Chakraborty), who is jailed as a teenager. He finds himself unable to stay on the right side of the law ever since, despite his wife and mother’s requests. This film boasted an impressive cast starring Madhuri Dixit, Nutan, and Amrish Puri. Umesh Mehra has directed this film and it is currently streaming on Netflix.

Agneepath (1990) – Directed by Mukul Anand, this fiery film narrates the life of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Amitabh Bachchan). He seeks revenge for the killing of his father Master Dinanath Chauhan (Alok Nath) by Kancha Cheena (Danny Denzongpa). Amitabh had initially received criticism for his voice, but Vijay Dinanath Chauhan remains one of his memorable roles. Mithun Chakraborty played the role of Krishnan Iyer MA and won Filmfare Award under the best supporting actor category for this film.

Saathi (1991) – Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, this film narrated the story of Suraj (Aditya Pancholi) and Amar (Mohsin Khan), who earn their living as conmen. Suraj’s character is based on the life of Tony Montana. Pancholi had catapulted to fame by playing this role and fans opined that this character was best suited for him. According to the reports, Mahesh Bhatt initially offered this role to Sanjay Dutt.

Atishbaz (1990) – Directed by Mukhtar Ahmed, Atishbaz was another Scarface-inspired film and revolves around Shamsher Singh Rajput (Shatrughan Sinha). Shamsher is shown earning his livelihood by criminal means and lives with his widowed mother and sister. KK Shukla and Armitage Trail were associated with Atishbaz as writers

Don’t expect the 1975 to make stops in Malaysia any time soon.

The band’s recent set at a Malaysian music festival was cut short after lead singer Matty Healy called out the Malaysian government’s LGBTQ+ policies.

“I made a mistake. When we were booking shows, I wasn’t looking into it,” Healy told the crowd Friday at the Good Vibes Festival hosted in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. “I don’t see the f— point, right, I do not see the point of inviting the 1975 to a country and then telling us who we can have sex with.

“I’m sorry if that offends you, and you’re religious,” he said, adding that he believes the Malaysian government is in the wrong. “I don’t care anymore. If you push, I’m gonna push back. I’m not in the f— mood.”

Malaysia has a “federal statute criminalizing same-sex relations,” according to Humans Rights Watch. State laws in the country often cite religion as a basis for targeting LGBTQ+ people.

The “She’s American” singer would go on to tell the audience that, due to his frustration, the group would not perform “uplifting” songs.

Healy added that the English band decided it didn’t seem “fair” for him to punish attendees, since they aren’t representative of their government’s agenda.

“You are young people, and I’m sure a lot of you are gay and progressive,” he proclaimed. “I pulled this show yesterday, and [the band] had a conversation. We said, ‘You know what? We can’t let the kids down because they’re not the government’ … If you want to invite me here to do a show, you can f— off. I’ll take your money, you can ban me, but I’ve done this before, and it doesn’t feel good.”

Immediately after the vocalist finished addressing the crowd, bassist Ross MacDonald approached Healy and kissed him on the lips as the audience cheered.

After performing only seven songs in their headlining set, the “Somebody Else” musicians left the stage, claiming their show had been terminated early.

“All right, we gotta go,” Healy said. “We just got banned from Kuala Lumpur. I’ll see you later.”

The Good Vibes Festival later released a statement saying the performance “had to be cut short due to non-compliance with local performance guidelines.”

“Good Vibes Festival has always been dedicated to providing enjoyable music experiences, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support,” the statement continued.

Organizers clarified that those who bought single-day Friday passes for the festival will be able to redeem their tickets for one of the event’s two remaining days.

This isn’t the first time Healy has been vocal onstage about a country’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights. In 2019, he kissed a male fan while performing in Dubai, which criminalizes same-sex couples and sexual acts.

“Thank you Dubai you were so amazing,” Healy tweeted in 2019 after the incident. “I don’t think we’ll be allowed back due to my ‘behaviour’ but know that I love you and I wouldn’t have done anything differently given the chance again.”

Since being introduced in 2019’s Captain Marvel, a variety of shape-shifting Skrull have been revealed as previously known MCU characters.

The Skrulls have a long and complex history in the Marvel Comics Universe. They are known for their conflicts with other alien races, most notably with the Kree, another powerful species.

In Captain Marvel, the Skrulls are depicted as shapeshifting extraterrestrial beings. Initially portrayed as antagonists, they are engaged in a conflict with the Kree but are later revealed to be refugees seeking a new home.

The comic book run, Secret Invasion, is well-known for being a crossover event where the Skrulls infiltrate Earth by replacing key superheroes. Now a Disney+ series of the same name is creating its own story within the MCU.

Every MCU Hero To Be Revealed as a Skrull

Phil Coulson (Captain Marvel)

Marvel Studios

No, this has nothing to do with Agents of SHIELD. During a flashback scene in Captain Marvel, a younger version of agent Phill Coulson was impersonated by a Skrull.

One of the Skrulls from the crashed ship in 1995 impersonated Coulson to infiltrate SHIELD and capture Vers. Nick Fury exposed the Skrull’s deception and deliberately caused a fatal collision.

Att-Lass (Captain Marvel)

In Captain Marvel, Algenis Perez Soto portrays Att-Lass, a skilled member of the Kree Starforce, an elite military unit.

During a mission on the planet Torfa, a Skrull disguised himself as Att-Lass to prevent a Starforce member, Minn-Erva, from shooting other Skrull refugees posing as Torfans, but their true identity was eventually revealed, leading to a fatal confrontation.

Nick Fury – Talos (Spider-Man: Far From Home) / Gravik (Secret Invasion)

Samuel L. Jackson’s presence was felt throughout Tom Holland’s second Spider-Man film. The entire time audiences were meant to believe that it was the true Nick Fury portrayed by Jackson.

In the post-credits scene, however, it is revealed that Talos had been acting as Fury for (seemingly) the duration of the movie. Fury wasn’t even on Earth, he was on a SABER space station in orbit.

Maria Hill – Soren (Spider-Man: Far From Home)

Marvel Studios

Alongside Jackson was Colbie Smulder’s Maria Hill. The duo was back together for the first time since Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and even then Smulders’ role wasn’t as large since 2012’s The Avengers.

Turns out, it wasn’t Agent Hill and the reality was the Skrull husband-wife of Talos and Soren were helping Peter Parker out in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Everett Ross (Secret Invasion)

To the surprise of most Secret Invasion viewers, Agent Everett Ross was quickly revealed to be a Skrull after being chased by Talos.

Actor Martin Freeman doesn’t believe Ross has always been a Skrull this whole time though:

“I don’t wanna believe he’s been a Skrull this whole time, so I don’t.”

Priscilla Fury – Varra (Secret Invasion)

verra
Marvel Studios

Priscilla Fury’s introduction was uniquely connected to the Skrulls. Varra first appeared, then shifted into Priscilla when Nick Fury arrived home.

Audiences were left wondering where Nick knew his wife was a Skrull but soon found out that he’s always known.

Rhodey – Raava (Secret Invasion)

rhodey
Marvel Studios

The Skrull reveal that may be the most comparable to some of the surprises in the Secret Invasion comics was James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) as a Skrull.

Speculation began early in the series, especially when Rhodey fired Nick Fury, that he wasn’t himself. It was confirmed in Episode 4 that Skrull Raava is currently acting as Colonel Rhodes, fooling most of the US Government, including its President.

It hasn’t been explicitly said how long Rhodey has been a Skrull, but there’s a possibility that it has been for longer than fans may have initially thought.

Back in April, Jamie Foxx was hospitalized out of nowhere and the whole Hollywood community and his fans have been concerned for the actor’s health. Although it’s still unclear exactly what happened to Foxx, who was taken to the hospital after suffering an unspecified medical emergency while filming his next Netflix film, Back in Action, it seems he’s finally back on his feet.

Foxx shared a video with his fans on Instagram to thank them for their support, and noted his journey “to hell and back” after previously being hospitalized with a “medical complication.” As well as debunking some of the more elaborate internet rumors about his condition, Foxx said in the video:

“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through. I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show. I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through. But I did go to hell and back. My road to recovery had some potholes as well but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”

That ability to work was made public in an article published by TMZ, in which the Academy Award winner was seen filming an ad in Las Vegas last week, marking the first time since his recovery that Foxx got in front of a camera. Foxx’s own video comes after the actor’s daughter published a picture of the two of them on set and Foxx himself shared a picture from behind the scenes, expressing excitement for being back doing what he loves.

Back in Action is one of the six titles that Jamie Foxx has in development and will hit the screen in the next couple of years. The movie, directed by Seth Gordon also stars Cameron Diaz, Kyle Chandler, and Glenn Close. After Foxx was in the hospital, shooting continued with his body doubles taking care of the remaining scenes.

Jamie Foxx is one of the most acclaimed actors in Hollywood, and has been part of some amazing movies such as Ray, Miami Vice, Dreamgirls, Djando Unchained, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Baby Driver, Soul and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which means he was part of the MCU at least for a brief moment, reprising his role as the villain Electro.

Jamie Foxx Shines in They Cloned Tyrone

Although fans might have to wait a long time to see Foxx on the screen once again with many productions halted in Hollywood because of the writers and actors strikes, the audience can currently enjoy his performance in They Cloned Tyrone, one of the latest Netflix movies, now available at the streaming platform.

Directed by Juel Taylor, who wrote the scripts for both Space Jam: A New Legacy and Creed II, the movie also stars John Boyega and Tenoyah Parris. The story centers on three criminals that end up involved in a huge conspiracy, discovering that cloning is a reality and is being performed on humans.

They Cloned Tyrone is the third film Foxx has released directly with Netflix after the action-packed superhero-style film Project Power, where he played an ex-soldier looking for revenge who joins a police officer and a teen dealer to fight criminals that have gained special abilities thanks to a pill.

The other film was Day Shift, an action comedy mixed with horror that follows a pool cleaner that hides a huge secret. In reality, he’s a vampire hunter who keeps the city of Los Angeles safe from those mythical creatures. Day Shift also stars Dave Franco, Snoop Dogg, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Steve Howey, and Scott Adkins.

You no longer need to try a beta to stream Android apps on your Chromebook. Google has released a Chrome OS M115 update that makes Android app streaming available to many more people. If you have Phone Hub enabled, you can run an Android app directly from your mobile device rather than installing it on the computer. The update allows you to reply to a message or check your lunch delivery without the distraction of reaching for your handset.

The feature is still limited to a handful of Android 13-capable phones from Google and Xiaomi. From Google, you’ll need a Pixel 4a or later. Xiaomi fans, meanwhile, need at least a 12T. Both your Chromebook and phone must be on the same WiFi network and physically close by. Some networks might not support the feature, but you can use Chrome OS’ Instant Tethering to establish a link if need be.

As during the beta, you won’t want to use app streaming for games or other intensive Android apps. This is more for responding to notifications than any serious commitment — you’ll still want to install apps for that. It gives Chromebooks some of the phone integration you find in macOS and Windows, though, and may help you stay focused while you work.

The M115 upgrade also lets you sign PDF documents and save signatures to use later. Google has also redesigned the keyboard-oriented Shortcut app with a new interface and easier in-app search.

EXCLUSIVE: For those awards strategists wondering whether stars from indie U.S. films can promote at the fall film festival troika, SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland says “We’re looking at that issue.”

“There might be a form of an interim agreement that we can make available for that purpose,” Crabtree-Ireland told us today at San Diego Comic-Con.

SAG-AFTRA Strike rules underscore that members “can participate in a film festival that has no known connection, such as sponsorship, to an AMPTP company, however you cannot promote work you did for a struck company at any film festival.”

After the guild cleared several starry indie movies and TV series to shoot during the actors strike, as they’re made by non-AMPTP companies, hope prevails among film festival organizers and personal publicists that exceptions will be made for those indie movies making their premieres at TIFF, Telluride and the Venice Film Festival.

Toronto International Film Festival CEO Cameron Bailey told Deadline that this year’s 48th edition of the fest, which will clear 200+ features, has “a bumper crop of sales titles…independent films with A-list actors on screen,” a subset total that’s up from last year. Bailey remains hopeful that a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement for completed indie films will be approved by the guild so that talent would have the opportunity to venture to the Great White North. Awards publicists have told Deadline that “it just takes one star to show up, to make everyone else feel comfortable.” Again, it’s not the companies behind indie films that SAG-AFTRA has a beef with.

“Every member of SAG-AFTRA will make their own decisions on this even if an interim agreement is in place,” Bailey added earlier this week, “We’re just working that through with all the filmmakers and directors of the films, and the actors.”

Regarding an interim agreement for indie films headed to fall film festivals, Crabtree-Ireland specified, “If we were to do that, those companies –assuming they are free and complete of AMPTP fingerprints– those companies would have to agree to the terms of our last offer to AMPTP just like any company doing an interim right now.”

When TIFF announces the first phase of its lineup next week, it is set to include at least a third coming from both U.S. indies and Hollywood films. Some awards season contenders, such as A24’s Problemista and Lionsgate’s White Bird, shifted off their August release dates to TBD this year as they await the strikes to end, and talent available to promote. As Deadline told you earlier today, MGM’s Challengers starring Zendaya is skipping its Venice Film Festival opening night premiere, and the studio has pushed the Luca Guadagnino feature to April 26, 2024. It’s crucial for that movie that Zendaya, who can transmit a message to her 200M social media followers, be available to promote the film.

Crabtree-Ireland explained the complexities today on how some AMPTP-looking projects were getting waivers to shoot, i.e. Apple TV+’s Tehran. He was here at San Diego Comic Con this afternoon with members of the National Association of Voiceover Actors to talk about how AI was impacting their lives, and how their rights and livelihoods are great need of being protected.

EXCLUSIVE: For those awards strategists wondering whether

Yes, DaCosta was familiar with Ms. Marvel going into the project and is likely familiar with the way the character’s powers have been changed to fit her live-action iteration. Indeed, DaCosta found a kinship with Kamala Khan in that they both were nerds from nearby neighborhoods. She said:

“I’m a big nerd from New York City, and here was this hero who was a big nerd from Jersey City, writing fan fiction the way I used to when I was that age. […] It was really fun to feel close to that character in that really specific way, in a way you don’t often feel when it’s Iron Man or Thor. That was so exciting to me, knowing that I could be a part of bringing this character who I’ve loved for a decade to the big screen.”

Kamala Khan is played by Iman Vellani, reprising her role from the TV series “Ms. Marvel,” of which DaCosta directed an episode. Vellani noted that DaCosta’s nerdiness wasn’t so important on set as her professionalism. The actress said that DaCosta was able to keep morale on set very high, which is a difficult task given the scope and budget of the production. “She has a really calm vibe,” Vellani said.

When it came to Kevin Feige, however, DaCosta admits she lost her cool a little bit. Not that she has a temper. She just fell back on her nerd instincts and began thinking of Ms. Marvel in her 2013 iteration and not Ms. Marvel on the screen.

Jamie Foxx is speaking out for the first time after being hospitalized for a “medical complication” months prior.

“First of all, I wanna say thank you to everybody that’s prayed, man, and sent me messages,” he said in a more than three-minute video posted on his Instagram Friday. “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back.”

The actor’s daughter Corinne shared the news in April that Foxx was hospitalized but “already on his way to recovery” while filming the Netflix movie Back in Action in Atlanta. At the time, she didn’t provide many details on the health scare.

Foxx has also remained mostly out of the spotlight since, including missing public events such as the They Cloned Tyrone premiere in June. Earlier this month, he was spotted on a yacht in one of his first known appearances in public for months.

In May, Corinne did provide an update on her dad’s recovery after media reports suggested that his family was preparing for the worst. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday!” she wrote on Instagram at the time. Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”

The Oscar-winning actor also didn’t reveal many details on the incident in Friday’s video, but added, “I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through.”

“I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that man,” he continued. “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through.”

The God Is a Bullet actor went on to share his appreciation for his sister and daughter and their support throughout his recovery, saying they “saved my life.”

“To them, to God, to a lot of great medical people, I’m able to leave you this video,” he added. “I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight, they didn’t let nothing out, they protected me, and that’s what I hope that everyone could have in moments like these.”

In the clip, Foxx also proceeded to shut down rumors on social media that claimed he was “blind” or “paralyzed.”

“As you can see, the eyes are working, the eyes are working just fine,” he said. “I’m not paralyzed, but … I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back and I’m able to work.”

Foxx concluded the video by thanking all his fans for their continued prayers, love and support.

“I love everybody and I love all of the love that I got,” he added. “If you see me out from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it’s just because it’s been tough, man. I was sick, man. But now I got my legs under me, so you’re gonna see me out.”

Jamie Foxx gave fans an update on his recovery in his first official video since his April hospitalization for what his daughter Corrine Foxx described at the time as “medical complication.”

In the Instagram video posted Friday night (you can watch it below), Jamie Foxx did not reveal the nature of the complication but addressed the severity of his condition when he was in the hospital.

“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” Foxx said, thanking fans for their prayers and messages.

He explained why it took so long for fans to hear from him. “I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show. I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

Foxx debunked online rumors that the medical emergency had left him paralyzed or blind.

“But I did go to hell and back,” he added. “My road to recovery had some potholes as well but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”

Foxx praised his daughter Corinne as well as his sister, Deondra Dixon, for keeping his medical struggles and recovery private.

“They didn’t let nothing out. They protected me,” he said.

Foxx then choked up as he told fans, ‘I just want to say that I love everybody, and I love all the love that I got.” He ended the video message with “I am on my way back.”

Following his hospitalization, Foxx had been spotted in Chicago going to a physical rehabilitation facility and most recently waving to fans from a boat.

Prepare to laugh your saddle off with the riotous comedy feature Go West, directed by Stephen Meek and Jeremy Warner. Narrated by Sean Astin, it tells a tale of treacherous tee-hees featuring a wacky wagon train merrily trekking in a particular direction (guess which one). There is the lovely Miss Cora (Mallory Everton), whose body is so chronically ill that blood and feces escape regularly. Her sister, the widow Aveline (Natalie Madsen), gets a letter telling her that her teenage daughter in Oregon is fixing to marry a notorious outlaw. Both need to get west, so they join up with Eljah (Stephen Meek), who is going to teach school out yonder.

Leading their train is Captain Evander Lillianquist (Matthew Meese), who will guide them, as well as fellow travelers Hank (Jeremy Warner), Terrance (Stacey Harkey), Angus (James Perry), and Percival (Adam Berg). However, our heroic trio forgot to pay a half-cent on their supplies, so shopkeeper Robert Failure Gladstone (Whitney Call) closes shop and pursues them with her henchman Chesterton (Jason Gray). But the West is waiting with baited breath to deliver all 32 flavors of calamity on our poor pioneers. Will Aveline make it in time to stop the wedding, or will the buzzards feast on the entrails of their hope?

“…her teenage daughter in Oregon is fixing to marry a notorious outlaw.”

Western comedies have a notoriously hard time catching eyeballs. Even the evermore scarce genre fans don’t usually relish a jokey ha-ha version. Blazing Saddles is the best ever made, but outside that, you are left with Sunday reruns of Support Your Local Sheriff or the doldrums of a late-night viewing of A Million Ways to Die in the West. The rest of the territory is littered with flicks that ring childish, like The Apple Dumpling Gang saga or Terence Hill’s oaters. Most modern attempts have come and gone without much notice, even those by big-time comedians.

However, against all odds, the plucky folks in Studio C, a longtime comedy troop that sprang out of BYU, have not only survived but have prevailed with Go West. That is because everyone involved is funny. The first two minutes running up to the opening credits will make you laugh your guts out. The cast and crew then pick said guts off the floor and use them to jump rope.

The Toronto Argonauts are 5-0 for the first time since 1960 after topping the Tiger-Cats 31-15 Friday night in front of a sold out crowd at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.

Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly threw for 306 yards and completed touchdown passes to receivers Kurleigh Gittens Jr. and DaVaris Daniels in the first half as the Argos stopped the Ticats’ two game winning streak as 24,312 looked on.

Rookie QB Taylor Powell made his first start in the Canadian Football League for the Ticats and completed 27-of-41 passes for 282 yards and ran for a 13-yard TD in the fourth quarter. He was also intercepted once.

Toronto opened the game with an impressive seven-play drive in the first three-and-a-half minutes, highlighted by a 50-yard pass by Kelly to receiver Dejon Brissett. The drive culminated with a one-yard touchdown run by backup pivot Cameron Dukes.

Four minutes into the second quarter, the Argos went up 14-0 when Kelly zipped an 8-yard pass into the hands of Gittens Jr. for a touchdown.

Minutes after cornerback Jamal Peters intercepted Powell at the Hamilton 39-yard line, Kelly and Daniels connected on a 32-yard TD to give Toronto a 20-0 edge.

Hamilton finally got on the scoreboard with 1:47 left in the first half when Marc Liegghio booted a 19-yard field goal. The points came four plays after Nic Cross was onside when he recovered a punt by teammate Bailey Flint at the Argos’ 39.

The two teams traded field goals in the third quarter before Liegghio added his third field goal of the game early in the fourth frame to trim Toronto’s lead to 23-9.

Powell’s touchdown run with 3:28 to play in the game made it 23-15 but Liegghio missed the convert. That was as close as the Ticats would get as Kelly iced the game with a one-yard touchdown run with just over two minutes left in regulation.

Terry Godwin was Hamilton’s leading receiver with seven catches for 103 yards while running back James Butler had only eight carries for 14 yards. Hamilton’s leading tackler was safety Stavros Katsantonis with seven and linebackers Chris Edwards and Jameer Thurman each had a sack.

The loss dropped Hamilton’s record to 2-4. The Cats’ next game is July 28 when they visit the Ottawa Redblacks.

Iñaki Godoy and his crew are setting sail on an adventure of a lifetime in the newly released trailer for Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece.

The eight-episode show, based on the popular manga series written by Eiichiro Oda, follows Godoy’s Monkey D. Luffy as he assembles a crew, finds a ship to sail and sets out on a treasure hunt across the high seas to become King of the Pirates. Along the way, he and his crew must battle an unforgiving sea as well as dangerous rivals.

“This crew, our crew, can handle anything,” Godoy’s character can be heard saying in the new action-packed footage released Friday.

Netflix also took to Twitter to share a letter from Oda, where he shares his excitement about the upcoming live-action series as well as his appreciation for the cast and crew for bringing his manga series to life on the small screen.

“It’s already fun seeing the flurry of reactions after each release of information,” he wrote in part. “And the very fact that adapting One Piece into live action was conceived seven years ago is wild! … The entire process of so many people putting their heads together was a festivity in and of itself.”

In the letter, Oda also reminds fans that they could see some changes from the source material, adding, “After the launch, I’m sure I’ll hear about some people pointing out how this character is missing or that scene is omitted, or this bit is different from the manga. But I’m sure they’ll come from a place of love, so I intend to enjoy even those comments!”

The show, created by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, also stars Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

Oda’s manga series was first published in 1997 and has sold more than 460 million copies worldwide. It has also been adapted into an anime series, video games and a series of feature films in Japan.

One Piece sets sail on Netflix Aug. 31.

The journey to find the “One Piece” is on in the latest trailer for Netflix’s upcoming live-action series based on the popular manga.

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, audiences got the first look at the trailer — which teases an action-packed adventure — before it was shared with the rest of the world. The trailer opens the same way that the manga story begins, with the previous pirate king announcing the existence of the “One Piece” right before he is executed.

From there, it’s off to the races. Particularly, the trailer shows off a much better look at Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the Straw Hat Pirates, as well as some of their journey across the seas.

Based on the manga title by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece will follow the other-worldly adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they explore exotic islands and endless oceans in search for the ultimate treasure “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.

Along with the trailer, Netflix also released a letter from Oda about the upcoming series, which is embedded in full below. He started by thanking fans for their outpouring of excitement thus far.

“It’s already fun seeing the flurry of reactions after each release of information,” he wrote. He was also quick to remind fans that, while the story is adapted from the popular manga series, they should expect some changes from the source material.

“After the launch, I’m sure I’ll hear about some people pointing out how this character is missing or that scene is omitted, or this bit is different from the manga, but I’m sure they’ll come from a place of love,” he continued. “So I intend to enjoy even those comments!”

In One Piece, Iñaki Godoy stars as Monkey D. Luffy, along with the Straw Hats played by Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji).

Cast also includes McKinley Belcher III, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, Craig Fairbrass, Langley Kirkwood, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Chioma Umeala and Steven Ward.

Steven Maeda (Lost, The X-Files) and Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage) serve as writers, executive producers and showrunners. Oda, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements also executive produce.

One Piece is produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix in partnership with Shueisha.

Simmons).

But as Mark develops powers of his own, he discovers that his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.

Invincible also stars Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Seth Rogen (This is the End), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Andrew Rannells (Black Monday, Girls), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Mark Hamill (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Walton Goggins (Justified), Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Melise (The Flash), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Simpsons), Grey Griffin (Avengers Assemble), and Khary Payton (The Walking Dead).

Prime Video plans a Nov. 3 rollout

Already, some upcoming films have had their release plans modified as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strike. The Helen Mirren drama “White Bird” and A24’s Julio Torres comedy “Problemista” were supposed to launch in August and are now without an official release date, while “Challengers,” a tennis romance starring Zendaya, on Friday abdicated its prestigious slot as the opening-night title at the Venice Film Festival, which begins Aug. 30. That film, like the Emma Stone comedy “Poor Things,” had been set for theatrical release in September in order to capitalize on a starry press push at Venice. Now “Challengers” has moved to April 2024, according to Deadline.

Venice and the Toronto International Film Festival will announce their full lineups next week, and though those slates have the chance to build on the movie-loving momentum offered by “Barbenheimer” weekend, many wonder if they’ll be lacking the starry prestige titles studios normally send there. “If ‘Oppenheimer’ were a fall movie and I was taking it to Toronto, I think we’d probably at this point have decided not to take it,” said that film’s awards strategist, Tony Angelotti, citing the cost of reserving travel and lodging for the cast and makers of a major movie: “Would they refund your money if the strike continues?”

While Hollywood braces itself for the next strike-related shoe to drop, Scott Sanders is feeling an unwelcome case of déjà vu. As one of the producers of a new movie-musical adaptation of “The Color Purple,” Sanders has spent months poring over a meticulous release strategy for the Fantasia Barrino-led film, due in theaters on Christmas Day. But all of that hard work could be dashed if Warner Bros. delays the movie, as it did three years ago with another Sanders-produced musical: “In the Heights” was pushed a full year to June 2021 because of the pandemic, and then released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max.

Sanders said the studio has assured him that, so far, no discussions have been had about bumping “The Color Purple” into 2024. Still, he said, “If the other big tentpole holiday movies or awards-bait films start to shift, frankly, I’m going to be nervous.” He added, “The optimist in me thinks we have six or seven more weeks before we have to start taking Pepto Bismol.”

The hype around “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” could rekindle a love for moviegoing, Sanders said, but there might be few titles left to capitalize on it. “Are we going to keep the momentum going from this weekend?” he said. “Or are we going to suddenly pull the emergency stop in the next month or two and go back to square one again?”

If that cord is pulled, it will have a significant ripple effect. Theaters that are barely back from the brink since the pandemic would be tested once again, while the films that were already dated for 2024 might be forced to free up space. And without the usual influx of year-end prestige films, this year’s awards season could look very different — and, in another way, all-too-familiar.

“Worst-case scenario, every studio on the planet decides to move their fourth-quarter movies into next year,” Sanders mused. “Suddenly, the last contenders for awards are ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer.’ Then what happens?”

On July 17, Will.i.am jumped on his socials and teased a new song in collaboration with his old friend and production charge Britney Spears, writing, “UH OH!! You are NOW rocking with will.i.am. and @britneyspears!” Changing his gears, and his release date, to July 21, the producer and co-founding member of the Black Eyed Peas then dropped his new “Mind Your Business” duet with Spears for what is her second song to be released after her 13-year conservatorship was terminated. (Spears’ other recent pairing, with Elton John on “Hold Me Closer,” became her 14th Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100.)

The spare, electro-banging “Mind Your Business” marks the first reunion for Spears and Will.i.am since he produced and co-wrote several songs for her 2013 album “Britney Jean” (including his favorite, “Work Bitch”), as well as their triple-platinum hit “Scream & Shout” (which reached the billion-view on YouTube earlier this year).

While the producer mentioned that the most recent work on “Mind Your Business” yielded ideas that he and Spears will put off for a possible next collaboration, it’s worth noting that the first name on the single is that of Will.i.am, who’s nearing completion on his fifth solo album. Meanwhile Spears, currently celebrated on Broadway in a musical devised from her hits, “Once Upon a One More Time,” is readying a promotional push for her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” to be published this October.

A rapid-fire-speaking Will.i.am was in Saint Tropez, France, on Friday morning when Variety caught up with him about the just-out release.

Before we talk about anything Britney, it’s your name that comes first on “Mind Your Business.” Is this part of a larger forthcoming project?

Will.i.am: It is. I have a project coming toward the end of the year.

Does “Mind Your Business” sound like the other songs on this upcoming project?

The project that I’m working on right now is like…. I’m trying to do the most. The reason why I’m trying to do the most is because as far as music goes, humans – vocals, humans on microphones, humans on instruments – I want to take advantage of the moment. Right now. I want to create as much human-made music as I can as we enter this next phase. This societal shift. So, I’m doing the most, two sonic projects at the same time that are poppy, dance, festive that are like “Mind Your B.” A lot of club/electronic and disco-inspired celebrative music. Then, there’s an old-school, lyrical, jazz chord-y project at the same time – like the original Black Eyed Peas formation. Real backpack, check-out-my-lyrics stuff, check-out-these-earworms that you can’t get out of your head. That’s the duality I live in. I love doing the both of them. Also doing TikToks, streaming and documentaries are important too. So I’m working on a doc as well. Without giving too much away, the documentary will reveal why I want to do both of those projects at the same time. There’s a lot of changes coming in this decade. It’s a transformational decade.

Does the “Mind Your Business” Britney track signal additional work between the two of you, whether for your two new projects or for a potential new album for her?

Whatever, however and whenever, Britney, I am there for her. She’s a darling to work with, an amazing human being. I’ll always make myself available to her.

Before you two worked together on “Scream & Shout,” how did you know each other? What do you recall about your initial meeting?

Portugal, 2007, Black Eyed Peas did Rock in Rio and she was the headliner. “Dang, we’re rocking right before Britney. We gotta bring it.” At that time, I transformed into a huge fan because of “Toxic.” That track changed my life as far as I how I write and compete in that realm. When I heard “bleeearn-neearn-neearn-neearn” [his version of the “Toxic” intro], we produced “No, no, no, no, don’t phunk with my heart.” Same tempo. I told her that. Amazing. The video. The chorus. Even that noodle guitar. I still study that song. The structure, and how she performs it — perfect. That’s when I became an ultra-fan.

So, how does moving from ultra-fan to her producer occur?

The first song I did with her was “Big Fat Bass.” Every time I hear that I know that I could have done that better. I love it, but I would change things, still — revisit it. Back then, however, it was that revisiting that resulted in “Scream & Shout.” I had something perfect for “Big Fat Bass,” little catchphrases and its earworms. But “Scream & Shout” became an anthem. She needed something that she could always perform, that would always arouse crowd participation. My follow-up to that, which was my personal favorite, was “Work Bitch.” Deearn-deearn-deearn-deearn BUGATI. “Work Bitch” is the sassiest. If any producer asked me for my most avant-garde stuff and my intranational planet-shakers, “Scream & Shout” and “Work Bitch” are at the top of my check-it-out repertoire.

Was topping those tracks a goal for “Mind Your Business?”

I am competitive. Here it is, 2023, people want to hear this. But they ask, when did I record this with Britney? And is that really Britney on it? Yes, it is. When did I record it? That’s not important. For example, I have a track from several records ago, “Girl Like Me.” I wrote and produced it for Shakira in 2008, but it came out in 2021. That’s a lot of fermenting. Not everything should be instant. If you want to make great wine, there’s no such thing as instant wine. Intoxication on anything that you consume takes a while. Shit’s gotta sit around for a minute … fine-tune it, perfect it. Certain things come out when they’re supposed to come out. “Let’s Get Started,” we wrote and produced that in 1999, but didn’t release it until 2003. Some songs take 30 seconds to write and come out that month, like “My Humps.” BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM. “Mind Your Business” needed time. Now, at this time, it is perfect.

You started this interview talking about humanity — humanity regarding the voice and such. What’s different about the Britney you worked with in 2013 and the Britney with whom you cut “Mind Your Business”? And how old is this track?

The music was different than what you’re hearing now – different vibe, different tempo, different whole thing. When I re-addressed it, I started hearing how it fit into now. I messed around with different chord progressions and to marry the emotion to the present time. What remains true is that, as vocalists, we don’t change. The vocal tone that we (Britney and I) have now, in our 40s, we haven’t changed. Her passion… she’s explosive. Do you understand? If Britney gets into the studio to make a record right now, it’s earth-shattering. You see it when she’s dancing on Instagram. You feel it. She wants to let go. She’s the inspo-est, the most electricity-bottled-up, and ready to burst. The most amazing array of colors. She’s love and passion, perspective and introspective. Whenever she wants me to be part of her next project I am there. It’s going to be the most human, something every single person can relate to.

You alluded to something during the CBS Morning Show – how you have been supportive of her as a person. Does this mean that you were privy, as a friend, to the stranglehold of her 13-year conservatorship? Were you friends enough to have that conversation?

I didn’t know the depths. I can’t even…. I was a contributor, and our connection was music, and music only. Sometimes music gets personal, but as far as the day-to-day stuff, no. I didn’t know until everyone else knew. But you put two-and-two together, and everything makes sense.

You do a verse on “Mind Your Business” about having “hands up in the cookie jar, they’re watching me, they’re watching you.” You just mentioned Britney’s Instagram. Social media is a tricky beast.

I’m so happy you pointed that out. Because we all have our own perspective on “minding your b.”
What business we want people to mind. Hers is a different business than mine, a more personal one. More extreme. “Uptown. Downtown. Everywhere I turned around… Paparazzi shot me. I am the economy.” That’s not a really nice reality where people follow you knowing they’ll get paid – that a person can’t do regular things. That’s the price of fame, sure, but damn, you can’t go to the supermarket? You have to be empathetic toward everything that a person might be going through… the things they can’t do. Everybody is up in your cookies.

Tell me about the final recording of “Mind Your Business,” and how were the writing credits shared with Britney?

She really likes recording her vocals with Anthony Preston. He’s an awesome vocal producer that she’s worked with forever. I’ll get started in the studio, get a vibe going, and Anthony will record the vocals. I wish I had recorded her vocal on that. As far as writing, we wrote it together. We’d meet up for lunch sessions in the Valley, talk about life, I’d take notes about what we discussed. She’d ask to change this, change that. She’s the first person I wrote like that with – let’s just sit and chat about life, love, news, pop culture products. Just talk… I’d show her song structures, rhymes, metaphors. She’d shape and edit the lyrics. It was the same with the music. Since the start, I changed the music around. The beat was all dance. But on this one part, “Wheresheat-wheresheat-wheresheat,” she wanted something hip-hop, sparse and half-time. That’s dope. She had other awesome ideas too for “Mind Your Business,” but it was so juicy, it would be great for a brand new freaking song – and this was last week. She’s always coming up with new songs. I can’t wait.

While fans are worried about Sony Pictures potentially delaying Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, one of its Peter Parker actors provided an exciting update on its development.

After Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse broke box office records and became another massive success critically just like its predecessor, Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Verse 3 already has fans on edge waiting for its debut.

But looking at how Sony is currently set to make history with Spider-Verse 3‘s release date, which comes only 10 months after its predecessor, questions are already being asked about whether it will meet that deadline next year.

Peter Parker Star Gives Promising Spider-Verse 3 Update

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse star Jake Johnson, who plays Peter B. Parker, gave an exciting update about the threequel’s upcoming release.

Johnson reminisced on how all of the directors from the first two movies “became executive producers” as well, adding as much input as they could for both stories.

He also promised that the team for Spider-Verse 3 won’t stop working on it “until it’s excellent,” regardless of its upcoming March 2024 release date:

“Here’s what I can promise, and I said it about the second one when we were in the middle of it: Phil Lord, Chris Miller, everybody, the producers on this, the directors they’re going to bring in … What they did on the first one is all the directors became executive producers. So they just keep adding to it. What I can promise is they are not going to stop until it’s excellent.

He even indicated that it may take “a little bit longer” to complete the movie, as the producers “don’t play by anybody’s rules” and are willing to do anything needed to make the movies as good as possible:

“And if that means it takes a little bit longer, if that means it’s even bigger, if that means it’s longer — they don’t play by anybody’s rules. They work really hard. As actors in it, we’re always shocked that we get called in to record on this last one. I think it was a month before it screened, where we could not believe we were still recording. So they’re not going to quit until it’s great and I have nothing but faith in them. But in terms of giving anything away [about the story], can’t do it.”

This comes as an exciting surprise considering how little work has reportedly been done on Spider-Verse 3, especially after reports detailed the difficult working conditions for the VFX workers on Spider-Verse 2.

In June, Gwen Stacy star Hailee Steinfeld even noted that she hadn’t recorded any of her material for the next movie yet, which was one of the first indicators that it might be delayed.

At this time, it appears that Spider-Verse 3 is almost guaranteed to be delayed, meaning it would come to theaters anytime from June 2024 to December 2024 depending on how fast progress is made.

Will Delays for Spider-Verse 3 Be Worth It?

Considering how much fans enjoyed the first two Spider-Verse movies, it’s more than evident that the producers will do everything in their power to make Spider-Verse 3 the best film that it can be.

The producing team even noted how negative feedback to early screenings of the first movie helped them make improvements before its debut, further confirming the work that they’ll put in this time around.

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been open about development for Spider-Verse 3 from the start, debunking rumors about its runtime and keeping fans up to date on what they’re up to each step of the way.

And with epic characters and storylines already being planned out for this threequel, hearing these kinds of quotes from the Peter Parker star only ramps up anticipation for how Sony will keep this animated Multiverse going.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is still playing in theaters. For now, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will swing onto the big screen on March 29, 2024.

It has been nearly five years since we saw Rick Grimes and Michonne together onscreen. Their great apocalypse love story took a tragic turn in The Walking Dead season 9 when Rick “sacrificed” himself on that bridge. Of course, we knew that Rick didn’t die. Jadis found him and took him on one of those CRM helicopters. But, poor Michonne thought her man was dead for many years until her big discovery at Bloodsworth Island led her to look for him. We saw a glimpse of their separate predicaments in The Walking Dead’s final episode.

Thankfully, we are finally going to get a sweet reunion between this pair in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which is the official title for the Rick and Michonne spinoff series. At this year’s SDCC, fans got a teaser trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live showing Rick and Michonne in action.

Michonne looks incredible in this clip, as she speaks about losing someone years ago and finding out that he’s alive. We also see Rick doing one of the things he does best: killing walkers. Do we learn anything? Not at all. Does it matter? Nope. It is just exciting to get a teaser trailer with Rick and Michonne back in action again.

The Meaning Behind the Rick & Michonne Series’ Official Title

The Ones Who Live is also a perfect title for this series. Rick originally said that line in reference to his original group in The Walking Dead’s fifth season. He told Deanna, who led Alexandria, that his group knew what to do because they knew how to survive this harsh world. And, in the show’s final episode, we hear many of the characters utter that line, including Rick and Michonne. Through all the villains, death, and despair, they are still alive and their love lives on.

What Is The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live‘s Release Date?

We still don’t know exactly when The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will hit AMC. It is coming sometime in 2024, which feels both close and still too far away. Either way, Rick Grimes and Michonne are back and that sparks so much joy.

A temporary sale on PlayStation 5 consoles will be announced soon for the United States and Europe.

That’s according to reliable data miner Billbil-Kun, who has a strong record of posting release information for games early, including monthly PlayStation Plus titles.

On Friday, the prolific leaker claimed that, following recent promotional campaigns in Spain, Portugal and France, PS5 consoles will soon receive temporary discounts in Germany, the UK and the United States.

It’s claimed that the sale details will be:

  • Germany: €75 reduction (€474.99 instead of €549.99)
  • United States: $50 reduction ($449.99 instead of $499.99)
  • Great Britain: £75 reduction(£405 instead of £480)

According to Billbil-Kun, these reductions will be valid on the official Playstation store (PlayStation Direct) and retailers in each country, such as Amazon, MediaMarkt, Target and Game.

Citing a challenging global economic environment, last August Sony “made the difficult decision” to raise PS5 prices in Europe, Japan and parts of North America, although not the US.

Nearly a year later, Xbox announced plans to increase the price of the Xbox Series X console and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

“We’ve held on our prices for consoles for many years and have adjusted the prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market,” Kari Perez, Microsoft’s head of gaming communications, said in a statement to VGC at the time.
