ultimate Rtbet Casino weekend bonus offer

We assessed Rtbet Casino expecting a conventional hybrid platform, but what we discovered is a meticulously engineered destination where casino play and sports betting feed into the same account, the same wallet, and the same loyalty journey https://rtbetlive.com/. The assurance of “more ways to win” is hardly a meaningless tagline. It translates into a genuinely versatile product that lets you to transition from a Premier League in-play market to a live blackjack table without logging out. For UK players seeking flexibility, this dual focus matters. Our review analyzes every layer, from bonus mechanics to cashout speed, so you can decide whether this platform merits your time and money.

Security, Licensing and Responsible Gambling

Confidence is key, and Rtbet works under a respected regulatory licence. UK-facing platforms of this quality typically hold a UK Gambling Commission licence, which enforces strict rules on fund segregation, fair gaming, and advertising. We noted clear terms, a transparent privacy policy, and visible responsible gambling tools on every page—all signs of a correctly regulated environment and a commitment to player protection.

Security Measures

The site uses TLS encryption to protect data in transit, and two-factor authentication is offered to bolster account security. RNG games are independently tested, and live casino studios undergo regular compliance audits. We also noted that the privacy policy clearly details data usage, adding transparency. While no system is impenetrable, these technical safeguards meet the standard we expect from a platform handling personal and financial information.

Player Protection Options

A dedicated safer gambling section surpasses a token link. Deposit limits, loss limits, and session time reminders can be configured from your dashboard. Reality checks pop up at configurable intervals, and self-exclusion is available for longer breaks. Links to GamCare and BeGambleAware are supplied. These tools are presented during account setup, encouraging early engagement rather than being buried in fine print.

Real-Time Casino Tables That Deliver the Action to You

Live casino is where Rtbet flexes its muscle, with impressive streaming quality and experienced dealers. The lobby is powered mainly by Evolution, plus some Pragmatic Play Live tables, offering the gold standard: multiple camera angles, crisp HD streams, and interactive chat. Tables are arranged by game type—blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and game shows—so you can find a seat quickly without searching through a cluttered interface.

Table limits are wide: standard blackjack and roulette accept bets from £0.50 to several thousand pounds, accommodating cautious newcomers and high-stakes regulars. Speed roulette and lightning variants cater to those who prefer a faster pace. Game shows like Crazy Time and Monopoly Live offer a lighter, entertainment-first option. The dealers we cbc.ca saw were charismatic without being intrusive, a balance that matters during longer sessions.

Quick and Adaptable Banking for UK Players

Payment processing can define the quality of a casino, and Rtbet emphasises familiar UK methods. Debit cards, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, and Paysafecard are all accepted, alongside bank transfer for higher sums. The deposit interface is straightforward, with a £10 minimum that fits responsible gambling norms and keeps the barrier low. We note that the banking page displays all options clearly without hidden fees.

Funding – Real-Time and Free of Charge

Every deposit method we evaluated credited funds instantly with no casino surcharge. The transaction log updates in real time, providing you a clear record. We suggest verifying your identity early—deposits don’t require full KYC, but withdrawals will activate it. Pre-approved documents eliminate the biggest source of payout delays. The site uses 128-bit SSL encryption to secure financial data, which is typical but reassuring.

Withdrawals – Timelines and Identity Checks

Withdrawal speed relies on your method. E-wallets like PayPal and Skrill handle within 24 hours after verification; debit cards take one to three working days; bank transfers take three to five. Pending periods are short, and we saw no excessive reverse-withdrawal pressure. The verification team asks for standard documents: proof of ID, proof of address, and sometimes proof of payment method. Submitting clear documents expedites the process considerably.

Standard Table Games and Video Poker

Beyond the live studio, a strong RNG table game library enables you to set your own pace. European , American, and French Roulette each have specialized tiles with rule differences plainly displayed. Blackjack fans will find multihand variants, Perfect Pairs, and heavy-side-bet editions. The uncrowded lobby means games load in seconds, and you can play without having to wait for other players or a dealer.

Video poker is often overlooked, but we found a capable selection covering Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, and multihand versions. Pay tables are displayed before you bet, a transparency win. The catalogue isn’t as deep as a dedicated poker site, but it delivers a satisfying break from slots without going into the live lobby. RTP figures are strong , often above 99% with optimal play.

Ongoing Rewards and the VIP Treatment

Aside from the welcome package, a calendar of ongoing promotions rewards regular play. We found reload bonuses on certain days, cashback on live casino net losses, and free bet clubs for sports punters. The promotions page refreshes frequently, and terms are drafted in plain English, not legal jargon. While wagering requirements exist, the consistency guarantees you don’t have to wait for a seasonal campaign to feel recognized.

VIP Club Perks

The loyalty programme employs a tiered structure; exact mechanics are best verified on site. Active players can count on faster withdrawals, higher deposit limits, and customized gifts as they advance. Upper tiers usually get a dedicated account manager, simplifying issue resolution. Even at entry level, play is recorded and turned into redeemable points or bonus credits. This long-term value proposition is something we weigh heavily when assessing a platform’s staying power.

Slot Games That Cater to Each Preference

The slot selection is tailored for UK tastes, not just a large reel collection. You’ll come across classic fruit machines, Megaways titles, and branded blockbusters from studios like NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO, and Red Tiger—a definite commitment to quality over quantity. A search bar and provider filter make navigation easy, and the ability to favourite games lets you create a personalised lobby within a few sessions.

Progressive jackpots warrant a mention. Several well-known titles sit in their own category, with prize pools frequently climbing into six figures. Bet sizes are available at just 20p, making them available to casual players, while high rollers can push stakes higher. New releases land on the homepage within days of launch, so the roster stays fresh and regulars always have something new to try.

A Welcome Welcome That Creates the Vibe

Rtbet Casino’s welcome package offers new players a running start across both verticals. Instead of a single bonus, you’ll find a multi-stage offer combining deposit matches with free spins or risk-free bets. The promotion page separates the casino and sports welcome, so you can choose your path without confusion. Eligibility is strict: UK residents must be 18 or over, and only one welcome per household is allowed.

Activation is simple: register, verify your identity, opt in via the cashier, and deposit with a qualifying method. Bonus funds appear within minutes, and we acknowledge that you don’t need to contact support to claim what was advertised. Before depositing, read the key terms carefully. Minimum deposit thresholds, maximum bonus amounts, and game contribution rates vary, so checking the promotions page ensures you know exactly what you’re signing up for.

How to Claim Your Welcome Offer

Create an account with accurate personal details; any mismatch will delay verification later. Navigate to the promotions hub, select either the casino or sports welcome tile, and click opt-in. Proceed to the deposit page and choose a qualifying payment method—most debit cards and e-wallets work, but some e-wallets may be excluded, which is common. Enter the minimum deposit amount from the terms, complete the transaction, and the bonus should appear automatically.

Understanding Wagering Requirements

Wagering requirements dictate how many times you must play through the bonus before withdrawing winnings. At Rtbet, we found playthroughs in line with UK standards, typically 35x to 40x the bonus amount. Slots contribute 100%, but table games and live casino titles often contribute only 10%. This means clearing a bonus on roulette requires far more play, so always check the game weighting table before you begin.

Mobile Play Without Compromise

We tested Rtbet on a variety of devices, from an older Android to a current iPhone, and the experience stayed consistent. The site runs as a progressive web app, so you can set up a home screen shortcut and launch it like a native app. The layout adapts intelligently, stacking menus for one-handed navigation. Game loading times on 4G were solid, and live stream quality remained strong on mobile data.

reliable Rtbet Casino deposit bonus advertisement in UK

A dedicated downloadable app may not be available in all regions, but the browser solution leaves little to be desired. The full game library, including live tables, is reachable, and the cashier works identically to desktop. Touch targets are well proportioned, reducing mis-taps during in-play betting. For UK players who travel or game on the sofa, the mobile delivery is a genuine strength, not a scaled-down afterthought.

Sports Betting for the Avid Punter

The sportsbook is a comprehensive platform, not a minor addition. Football leads, covering the Premier League, Championship, Scottish Premiership, and major European leagues. We found wide-ranging bet builders, both teams to score, first goalscorer, and corner markets for most televised matches. Odds are set to fractional, the UK norm, with decimal and American formats a quick toggle away.

In-play betting exhibits technical competence: live odds refresh quickly, and cash-out is available on many events, with partial cash-out where possible. Beyond football, deep markets include tennis, horse racing, cricket, and darts. The horse racing section includes daily UK and Irish meetings, with best odds guaranteed clearly stated. Esports and virtual sports round out the offering, providing 24/7 betting opportunities.

Setting up a player account at Heats Casino gives you access to a controlled platform tailored to Polish users in mind. This guide explains the sign‑up flow, the details you submit, and the verifications that take place on the other side. The process tries to balance what the law mandates with what is convenient for you. Understanding the whole picture ahead of time minimizes confusion and allows you to proceed without surprise roadblocks.

How Registration Speed Is Important for Polish Players

The moments you devote filling in forms set the whole tone. A account creation that glides from one field to the next tells you the operator thought hard about your time and didn’t simply add a form. Polish players switch between devices constantly, so a system that adjusts for phones without sacrificing options earns trust fast.

Quickness isn’t about loose security. The best strategy is to request only what the regulator requires up front and push document uploads to later. Under Polish and EU rules, the platform can collect the legal minimum at the start and wait until you reach a withdrawal limit before it requests a scan of your ID. That ensures the first session is hassle‑free while still doing what compliance requires.

Registration on Mobile Procedure and Compatibility with Devices

When you open Heats Casino on a phone or tablet, the form reconfigures itself for thumbs. Fields stack one after the other with larger touch targets, so you mistype less even on a small screen. All the desktop functionality is preserved, from the real‑time error messages to the SMS verification step. With a steady connection and a reasonably sized display, mobile registration rarely takes longer than on a laptop.

You don’t have to download anything to get started. The mobile web manages everything, which means you avoid app store friction and storage anxiety. After you sign up, the same login is valid from anywhere, sessions held together by secure tokens. If you later install a native app, you just enter your existing details and continue without repeating the whole form.

Game Developers Powering the Platform

The game collection draws from several well‑known studios, so visual styles, math models, and gameplay elements vary. Some providers have solid reputations among Polish players, especially those famous for high-risk games that deliver substantial jackpot possibilities, and others praised for steady return‑to‑player figures. Each game’s info panel displays its theoretical RTP, providing a statistical approach to pick.

New releases arrive frequently and are marked in a new area on the homepage. That allows you to find something you haven’t tried without scrolling through every title. Provider filters let you to zero in on a single studio’s catalogue, convenient when you already know you enjoy a particular developer’s style and feel. The platform also hosts provider‑specific events, like tournaments or reward giveaways linked to new game launches.

Bonus Activation At Registration

As you create your account, there’s an optional step where you can nod yes to a welcome deal. It often appears as a toggle right before the submission. Selecting it locks your account into that offer’s terms, including playthrough requirements, game eligibility, and the clock. Check the full terms before you commit. Saying no at this stage can allow you access to alternative deals that appear later inside your account.

Welcome packages distribute the value across your initial deposits instead of offering it all on the initial deposit. A typical structure matches your initial deposit up to a limit and grants complimentary spins over the subsequent days. Wagering requirements indicate how many times you need to cycle the promo amount before you can withdraw the profits. Game contributions change by category: slots typically count 100%, while table games chip in a smaller share or sit out entirely.

Licensing Framework and Supervisory Control

Operating lawfully in Poland requires holding a licence from the Ministry of Finance. That licence comes with tight strings: conduct rules, obligations for fair play, and regulations safeguarding the cash you deposit. Licensed operators undergo regular audits of their random number generators and payout rates, with results validated by independent test houses. Your funds sit in separate accounts, isolated from everyday business money, so payouts are still possible even in the remote chance the company encounters problems.

If a dispute pops up, there’s a clear path. The first step is the platform’s own complaints process, which must confirm receipt within a set time and deliver a proper answer days later. When that answer fails to meet your expectations, the next stop is the regulator or an alternative dispute body recognized under Polish law. The terms of service outline these routes in plain language, and support can supply the right contact details when you ask.

Detailed Walkthrough of the Heats Casino Sign-Up Form

The form groups its fields so you don’t feel like you are staring at a wall of questions. First, you enter an email address and create a strong password. The box will refuse anything too simple, usually requiring a mix of capitals, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. A little strength bar lights up as you type, so you can notice the moment your choice stops being guessable.

  1. Input your email, choose a strong password, confirm it, and proceed.
  2. Provide your legal name, birth date, and gender exactly as they read on your ID.
  3. Provide a Polish mobile number for an instant SMS code, plus your home address using the Polish postal format.
  4. Select the optional bonus step, then press submit.

The birth‑date box serves as an age filter. The system excludes anyone under eighteen right there, because Polish law allows no space for gambling by minors. Type everything carefully before you press submit. Correcting a typo in your name later means contacting support, and that consumes time. The address fields check postal codes against the XX‑XXX pattern on the spot, so the data is already shaped for any future verification.

Accepted Payment Methods and Deposit Mechanics

When you credit a fresh account, you select from methods that process Polish złoty directly. The cashier features BLIK, Przelewy24, regular bank transfers, and major debit cards. BLIK receives special attention because it functions inside Polish banking apps and processes in seconds, so your balance updates almost before you leave the app. Deposits typically arrive instantly, offering you access to games with zero waiting.

Each method behaves a little differently behind the scenes. BLIK and Przelewy24 function as a privacy wrapper between your bank and the casino, ensuring the entry on your statement presents a bland merchant name instead of a gambling reference. That detail is important to plenty of players. Card deposits ride through secure gateways with 3D Secure, introducing a second layer that blocks out anyone who shouldn’t be using your plastic.

Help Desk Access for Account Creation Issues

Account creation glitches do happen, and understanding where to find assistance takes the sting out. A chat widget usually sits on the registration page so you can get instant help without leaving the form. Support staff can clarify weird field rules, retrieve verification codes that come slowly, and push technical bugs to the IT crew. Email works for less urgent questions, with replies often being sent within a few hours on business days.

Common issues include verification emails going in spam, SMS codes timing out before you enter them, and address format mismatches. Support deals with these daily and can approve manually an account when the automated gears jam. Before you write in about a missing email, examine your spam folder. That one move solves a huge chunk of cases on its own. When you do contact them with a stubborn tech problem, attach screenshots and explain exactly where the process froze. That information speeds diagnosis.

Game Types Reachable Instantly Upon Login

An initial account unlocks the entire game lobby, but playing for real money demands a funded account first. The titles are grouped into neat groups to help newcomers find their way. Slots prevail, spanning old‑school three‑reel machines and sophisticated video slots with cascading symbols, expanding wilds, and connected progressive jackpots. A dedicated table games area holds several versions of blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and poker variations.

Live dealer games beam in from professional studios, with Polish‑speaking dealers at selected tables. They replicate the feel of a land‑based casino, complete with real‑time chat and multi‑camera angles. Game show‑inspired titles combine gambling with entertainment, serving up wheel spins, dice rolls, and multiplier chains. For most slots, demo modes enable you to explore the mechanics risk‑free prior to you put money down.

Responsible Gambling Tools Ready from Day One

Brand‑new accounts have instant access to a set of safer‑play controls located within the account settings. Deposit limits let you limit what goes in over a day, a week, or a month. Raising a limit kicks in instantly; loosening one forces a cooling‑off wait so you can’t undo a good decision on impulse. Game time alerts pop up at intervals you choose and nudge you to note how long you have been playing.

Self‑exclusion settings stretch from short twenty‑four‑hour breathers all the way to a permanent shutdown. Polish rules demand that operators act on exclusion requests without delay and stop all marketing during the exclusion window. The platform also connects directly to support organisations, including Polish‑language helplines, and positions those links clearly during registration and on a dedicated responsible gaming page in the footer.

Profile Management and Profile Updates

Once sign-up finishes, the dashboard pulls all profile controls into one place. You can update contact details, modify comms preferences, and scroll through transaction history from a single screen. Some fields stay frozen after you first input them, your legal name and birth date are directly linked to the identity check records. Updating those needs a message to support plus documents that validate the edit.

Manage communication settings early. The defaults often feature marketing emails and SMS alerts about new promos and game drops. If you opt for a quieter inbox, you can disable specific channels while keeping transactional messages running. Transactional communications, including deposit confirmations, withdrawal updates, and security alerts, stay on because they carry legal weight and secure your account.

Payout Guidelines and Handling Times

Taking money out adheres to its own set of rules. The casino strives to return money through the same channel you used to deposit when possible, a policy built to block money laundering. If you funded through BLIK, the platform sends withdrawals back to that same BLIK‑connected account. When you’ve employed more than one option, a proportional return rule splits the money in line with how much you deposited through each channel.

How long you need to wait varies based on where the money is directed and whether your identity is already authenticated. E‑wallet and BLIK payouts often land within hours after authorization, while bank transfers span across two to five business days. The internal review stage, where the finance team reviews bonus rules and anti‑fraud signals, usually takes up to forty‑eight hours. Finalize full identity verification before your first cash‑out submission. Pending document checks halt the process until everything is finalized.

Location Eligibility and Polish-Specific Conditions

You can open an account solely when you are physically inside Polish territory at the moment you play. The platform verifies your IP address origin and may require location permission on mobile. Polish citizenship isn’t a rigid requirement, but a Polish residential address and a Polish payment method are crucial to complete full verification. Anyone attempting to register from outside Poland meets a wall at the IP check.

Tax matters merit a glance during setup. Under Polish law, heatscasino zainstaluj aplikację, winnings crossing certain thresholds trigger tax, and the operator may have to withhold that tax and pass it to the authorities. The registration terms spell out these duties, and the platform issues annual statements that outline taxable events. For tailored guidance, review the tax section on the site or talk to a qualified adviser.

Security Measures Safeguarding Registration Data

User information travels via protected tunnels the second you begin inputting. Transport Layer Security standards maintain the session between your browser and the casino’s servers inaccessible from the outside. Login keys aren’t stored in the clear, they exist as hashed with salt that even internal administrators cannot decrypt. Additional safeguards are placed on login attempts too: after a defined count of failures, the account is temporarily frozen, stopping brute‑force guessing.

Two‑factor authentication sits there as an optional boost you can activate right after you create the account. After activation, every login requests a temporary code from an authenticator app on your phone. That protection remains effective even when a password leaks through phishing or a breach somewhere else. Activate it in your first session. Configuration is completed in under two minutes and makes the access significantly harder to kick open.

Verification of Identity Requirements Per Polish Rules

Regulated operators in Poland cannot overlook who you are. Heats Casino operates a phased verification setup. When you sign up, a basic set of details provides you with a functional account you can add money to. Still, the platform might require documents at any stage, notably when your transactions trip an automated compliance flag.

The standard documents are a sharp photo or scan of a national ID card or passport, plus a utility bill or bank statement that ties you to the registered address. The utility document must show your full name, the same address, and an issue date no older than three months. Have digital copies in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format ready before you upload. The review team usually finishes checks within 24 hours on business days.

Technical Requirements for Smooth Registration and Play

The sign‑up system and gaming platform operate within normal system requirements that the latest gadgets meet out of the box. A steady network of about 5 Mbps data download rate ensures smooth gameplay, including live casino broadcasts that chew more bandwidth. Use current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge with JavaScript on and cookies accepted for session management.

On mobile, progressive web app technology allows you to add a shortcut to your home screen for an application-like experience without downloading anything. That hybrid approach offers you a unique icon and downloads updates automatically through the web. Hardware specifications are undemanding, compatible with iOS and Android releases from the past few years. When things get sluggish after a software update, deleting the cache often fixes the problem fast.

Setting up a player account at Heats

An additional 30 lawsuits have been filed in California in connection with the deadly school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. that shook the country nearly seven months ago.

This brings the total to 37 claims against OpenAI and founder Sam Altman related to the mass shooting.

Eight people were killed by 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, who shot their mother and step-brother, then opened fire at a school in Tumbler Ridge Feb. 10.

In February, OpenAI confirmed that an account connected with Van Rootelsar was identified the previous June and was subsequently banned for violating the usage policy.

The company considered referring the account to law enforcement but determined the account activity did not meet the threshold for referring a user to law enforcement because it did not involve an imminent and credible risk or planning of serious physical harm to others.

The 30 new plaintiffs are educators, a principal and students, including a 13-year-old referred to as ‘A.C.,’ who was trapped in the library.

“A.C. watched the Shooter kill a teacher at close range, blowing off her hand and shooting her in the face, and then watched the Shooter kill his classmates, one after another,” their suit claims. “Numerous gunshots whipped past A.C.’s body, but thankfully he was not struck. To survive, he played dead among his fallen classmates.”

B.C. government taking legal action against OpenAI after Tumbler Ridge mass shooting

Court documents filed on behalf of teacher Deidre Rushlow claim, “When the gunfire started, she locked her classroom door and pulled the students who remained beneath her desk… The shooter reached her classroom, found the door locked, and fired shotgun blasts through the front door… From under that desk, Deidre called the library to check on the students… EA Shannda Aviugana-Durand and several of those students were killed in that library.”

Another claim states “16-year-old D.I. was sitting in his science classroom when the gunfire started. He heard shots in the hallway and the screams of terrified children, and then bullets began tearing through the classroom door. His teacher ordered D.I. and the other students to hide under their desks. D.I. heard a blood-curdling scream just outside the classroom, followed by more gunfire, and then gunfire in the library next door.

Moments later, the teacher left the room and returned carrying a younger student who had been shot and gravely wounded. D.I. watched as blood poured from the wounded student’s body and spread across the classroom floor. After a few minutes, the teacher moved the injured student, D.I., and D.I.’s classmates into a small storage closet that shared a wall with the library. They remained packed tightly together in the closet, watching as the teacher administered first aid to the injured student. D.I. will never forget the moment the teacher covered her body with his jacket after her breathing slowed to a gurgle and then stopped.”

Lawyer John Rice represents the victims.

“We want full disclosure of the chat logs between the shooter and ChatGPT from the beginning up until the date of the mass shooting,” he told Global News. “We also want full disclosure of all the internal chain of command documents relating to the identification as the shooter as a credible threat, the recommendation to report the shooter to Canadian authorities and the decision to not make that phone call.”

Tumbler Ridge documents reveal school shooter was ‘obsessed’ with guns

Chicago-based lawyer Jay Edelson is part of the cross-border legal team representing the victims. In April he told Global News “we’ll be asking the jury to send a strong message to OpenAI that it can’t make a decision to put profits over the lives of little kids and it’s hard to imagine that we won’t ask for at least a billion dollars.”

The civil allegations against OpenAI and Altman include:

  • Negligence
  • Negligent Entrustment
  • Aiding and Abetting a Mass Shooting
  • Strict Product Liability
  • Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress.

“Probably most importantly for these families, they want to prevent another Tumbler Ridge and so this lawsuit is seeking specific injunctive relief from a California court to compel corporate changes at OpenAI,” said Rice.

None of the allegations have been tested in court. OpenAI and Altman have not yet filed statements of defence responding to the latest claims.

OpenAI claims it has strengthened safeguards, including how it assesses and escalates potential threats of violence.

In a statement provided to Global News in April, an OpenAI spokesperson said: “The events in Tumbler Ridge are a tragedy. We have a zero-tolerance policy for using our tools to assist in committing violence. As we shared with Canadian officials, we have already strengthened our safeguards, including improving how ChatGPT responds to signs of distress, connecting people with local support and mental health resources, strengthening how we assess and escalate potential threats of violence, and improving detection of repeat policy violators.”

All 37 lawsuits are requesting trials by jury.

Liza Minnelli is opening up about being diagnosed with substance use disorder (SUD).

“Hey Kids, [I] am grateful to be alive and able to honor National Recovery Month,” Minelli, 80, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, September 1. “Yes, even at 80, we can still be kids. I feel damn childlike on days that make me vulnerable to my disease … Substance Use Disorder.”

The legendary performer added, “Thank God I have so much support. I’m helped by my darling sister [Lorna Luft], who saved my life, my dearest friend [Michael Feinstein], and the incredible Dr. Lawrence Piro.

Without offering further details, Minelli revealed that she started working with Dr. Richard LeBeau, the director of UCLA’s Psychology Clinic “to develop a program” utilizing all of the lessons she learned for “as many people as possible.”

“This will be a companion to Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!, which I am so grateful hit #1 on New York Times bestsellers’ lists, as well as many others here at home, and around the world,” she wrote. “Thank you, Babies. We’re bringing care to the people who need recovery, as well as guidance for those — like Michael and Lorna — who support us. Family, friends, husbands, wives, children, colleagues … must know how to help us, not enable us.”

She added, “I’ve lost too many people I love. I know this: without sobriety, we will die. So keep an eye on this page, Kids. More will be shared soon, and I’m excited to start spreadin’ the news, and help as many people as we can. I love you.”

Minelli revealed in her Kids, Wait Till You Hear This memoir, published in March, that she is sober.

“Growing up, I met a lot of people who popped too many pills, drank too much and played games with dangerous drugs. They eventually stumbled and fell,’” she wrote in a passage, which was later shared via Facebook last month. “I’d had a front-row seat to Mama’s demons, but I was convinced I was different. I was too smart for that.”

Minnelli, one of the daughters of the late Judy Garland, further explained that she was never “a heavy drinker.”

“I just liked wine. If Valium calmed me down by day, why couldn’t a pill help me sleep at night?” she wrote at the time. “I used cocaine, but so did everybody else. Baby, I had it all under control. I was a survivor. ‘You’re too smart to ruin your life. Liza,’ I told myself. ‘You’re not that stupid.’ WRONG!!!”

She concluded, “Sober at 80 is so much better. Am I still smoking? I’ll never tell.”

Liza Minnelli is opening up about being

Life really does imitate art.

George Clooney attended last year’s Venice Film Festival with “Jay Kelly,” a comedic drama in which he portrayed an aging A-lister who travels to Italy to receive a life achievement award. Now the actor is getting a real Venetian tribute, accepting the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award on the festival’s opening day.

Before his big honor, Clooney sat for a press conference on Wednesday morning and addressed a range of topics, including the fraught state of politics in America, the rise of artificial intelligence and Paramount’s ongoing attempt to merge with Warner Bros. He also defended Mark Ruffalo, who was accused by Paramount of “antisemitic tropes” after the Marvel star attacked the deal over its potential consequences for Hollywood and accused the Ellison family of being complicit in the “genocide” against Palestinians. David Ellison is the CEO of Paramount Skydance.

“I support Mark Ruffalo’s ability to speak freely,” Clooney said. “It’s ridiculous. We’re not going to ban speech. I believe in free speech even when I completely disagree with it. That’s important. In fact, it’s part of how democracy works.”

Clooney called the pending merger “a complicated thing” and suggested he “doesn’t know how it works out.”

“I don’t see how the merger financially ends up making sense for the people who are trying to do it. We’ll see. I worry when a big company swallows up another company,” he said. “I always worry whenever big companies are consolidating because it means a lot of people are going to lose their jobs.”

On the topic of AI, Clooney predicted that it’s “going to be a very big part of this industry” and worries that “it’s going to hurt us in a lot of ways.” He expressed a concerned about the complications that AI will pose for actors, cracking that “I would like to avoid being in a tampon commercial 20 years after I’m dead.”

Clooney was also probed about the state of journalism, having directed 2005’s “Good Night, and Good Luck,” a drama about the conflict between the veteran CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joseph McCarthy. Clooney also earning a Tony nomination for his Broadway debut in “Good Night, and Good Luck,” a play based on his film.

“The state of journalism is in question. The richest people in the world are owning the Washington Post and Twitter, and that is a concern,” he said, referring to Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. Yet Clooney remains optimistic. “There’s a lot of room for great journalists. I do believe that information will find it’s way out.”

Clooney has a long history with the Venice Film Festival, having first attended with 1998’s Steven Soderbergh’s ”Out of Sight” and returning many times over the years with movies such as 2005’s “Good Night, and Good Luck,” 2007’s “Michael Clayton,” 2013’s “Gravity,” 2017’s “Suburbicon,” 2024’s “Wolfs” and 2025’s “Jay Kelly.” Clooney was a particularly welcomed presence at this year’s press conference after he missed the press conference for “Jay Kelly” because he was diagnosed with a sinus infection.

Clooney joked that he’s been getting nostalgic has he prepares to receive a career honor.

“I’m 65 years old — everything is melancholy,” he said. “You brush your teeth and you’re like, ‘My teeth used to be so much better…’”

One of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Clooney’s influence spans television and film, starting with his breakout role on “ER” and continuing with films such as “Syriana,” “O Brother Where Art Thou,” “Up in the Air” and the “Oceans” trilogy. Although he’s directed several films, Clooney says he’s stepped back as a filmmaker to focus on acting.

“The reason is because I have two 9-year-old kids — in order to spend time with them,” Clooney said. “If I act in a movie, it’s three months. When I direct a movie, it’s a year. And I cant do that anymore. I can’t pull the kids out of school anymore. I’m happy to doing this, being an actor again. It’s fun. I’m a character actor now.”

Clooney teased that he’s excited for one upcoming project — a new “Oceans” heist with Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. “I would do anything with them,” he said. “As soon as we get our schedules to work, we’re going to film.”

Alfonso Cuarón’s 2004 adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” is considered one of the best movies in the magical film series. Which made it all the more surprising for fans when the acclaimed director chose not to return for the fourth installment, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

Yet, David Heyman, who produced all eight movies for the Daniel Radcliffe-led series and is executive producing the upcoming HBO TV adaptation, recently admitted he wasn’t shocked by Cuarón’s decision. As Heyman recalled on the Tuesday episode of the “Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast,” Cuarón was “exhausted” upon completing the fantasy film.

“We asked Alfonso if he wanted to do the fourth, and he said, ‘Cabrón,’” Heyman recalled. “I think he was exhausted. I look at pictures of Alfonso from then – Alfonso is one of my best friends and he’s my son’s godfather and I love him. But I look at him from then, and I just look [at him]… Because he was exhausted.”

Heyman noted that Cuarón’s demeanor was strikingly different from Chris Columbus’, who had directed 2001’s “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and 2002’s “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

“Chris looked like a kid. He was unbelievable,” he said. “Alfonso, there was nothing left on the table. He said no.”

However, Heyman shared that Columbus also turned down returning to the film series after wrapping “Chamber of Secrets.” According to Heyman, Columbus “wanted to take his family back to America.”

“Chris Columbus would fly back to San Francisco every weekend during prep,” he shared. “He would leave on a Friday night and he’d fly Sunday to be back first thing Monday because he felt it was so important that he saw his family and that he wasn’t away. They then moved over. But it was during school, and they had to finish the school year.”

Heyman credited Columbus for creating the world of “Harry Potter” and for setting the tone of “family and positivity” for future productions.

Though, it seems Cuarón wasn’t the only director to get exhausted by his experience making the big budget fantasy movie. As Heyman told it, Mike Newell, who directed 2005’s “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” was “absolutely shattered” by the end of production.

Heyman’s commentary came as “Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast” announced that it was rebranding into “Harry Potter: The Official Series Podcast” ahead of the series’ Christmas Day debut.

“Each week, hosts Rhianna Dhillon (‘Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast,’ ‘BBCRadio 1’) and Law Sharma (‘Hollywood First Look’) will dive into the latest episode of ‘Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone,’ offering their reaction and analysis as well as interviews with the show’s cast and the magic makers behind-the-scenes,”  the official description noted. “The official companion video podcast will be available to watch directly following the series premiere on HBO Max and wherever you get your podcasts.”

It didn’t take long for politics to take the spotlight at this year’s Venice Film Festival jury press conference. Amid the wars raging in Gaza and Ukraine, as well as the unrest in the United States, jury president Maggie Gyllenhaal was asked whether cinema should be political.

“OK,” Gyllenhaal said with a laugh. “May as well get into it.”

The filmmaker, who recently directed “The Bride,” directly addressed the question by sharing her belief that movies are “fundamentally, unavoidably political.”

“Look, we could say, how are we possibly here talking about movies right now when the world is in a state of emergency?” she said. “To me, the answer has something to do with empathy. I think that film allows an opening into an opportunity to find empathy inside of ourselves.”

She added that every subject or filmmaker should have the ability to be heard. “I think we can challenge ourselves to hear stories about the most corrupt, most perverse people because it opens up the opportunity to find empathy for those people,” she says. “I am here open. I am here curious.”

Gyllenhaal was also probed about the lack of female directors in this year’s competition lineup. Only one film up for the Golden Lion — the drama “Woman Unknown” by Danish-Egyptian director May El-Toukhysolely — was solely directed by a women.

“I guess it’s finally become clear that men make better movies than women do,” Gyllenhaal deadpanned.

Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera interjected, saying that “Naza,” a documentary from “No Other Land” filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, was added to the competition lineup shortly before the festival.

Gyllenhall returned to the question, saying, “I will answer you seriously. There’s a systemic problem. It’s harder for women to get films financed.”

She wondered aloud: “Could it be possible that women, having had a different experience of being alive in the world, want to make movies about are not always deemed high art? Who decide what’s good? Who decides what is valuable?”

Gyllenhall also noted it’s “important to consider” that she was asked to be head of the competition jury. Gyllenhaal heads a seven-member jury that includes Tunisian helmer Kaouther Ben Hania, Hong Kong filmmaker Johnnie To, Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat, French filmmaker Xavier Giannoli, British composer Daniel Blumberg and Italian film scholar Francesco Casetti. Gyllenhaal represented the jury at the conference, while her fellow members sat in the audience.

The traditional opening jury press conference took place after some uncertainty over whether Venice would hold it at all. The festival considered scrapping the event because of “scheduling issues,” but some perceived the move as a way to shield jury members from being quizzed about politics. After facing backlash, the festival reinstated the jury presser, explaining the programming conflicts had been solved.

The debate surrounding the press conference came amid heightened political tensions on the international festival circuit, where actors, directors and jury members have increasingly been pressed to address wars, Gaza, U.S. politics and the rise of the far right. The conversation around politics escalated at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year after jury president Wim Wenders said filmmakers should “stay out of politics” while fielding questions about Israel and Palestine. His remarks triggered fierce criticism and prompted Berlin artistic director Tricia Tuttle to publicly defend artists’ right to decide whether or not to speak on political issues.

Venice itself is opening against a particularly charged backdrop. An open letter issued by the Venice4Palestine collective and signed by figures including Nobel Prize-winning writer Annie Ernaux, Roger Waters, Isabel Coixet and Matteo Garrone has called on the festival to take “concrete action” in support of Palestine. The group has also asked Venice to fly the Palestinian flag throughout the festival.

The subject carries particular resonance for Ben Hania, whose Gaza drama “The Voice of Hind Rajab” premiered in competition at Venice last year and won the Silver Lion after receiving a 22-minute standing ovation.

Barbera has himself described this year’s selection as the festival’s most political in recent years, pointing to films dealing with war, Palestine, immigration, climate change, mounting social tensions and shrinking freedoms.

“I think that just feeling more embodied and connected. That’s what lets you weirdly let go more, you know, that’s what lets you, you know, knowing yourself more and embodying yourself more, weirdly lets you let go.”

And while Page is keen to keep working, he suggested that his position in Hollywood has changed since his transition.

“I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s different now, so maybe there is something to reaching out to people and trying to create projects that way,” he shared. “But it’s a little tricky for me to get cast now, for obvious reasons.”

Gerda Taro was only 26 when she became the first female photojournalist to be killed on the battlefield. It would be decades before her true contribution to the artform was acknowledged. Alina Marazzi’s “The Girl With the Leica,” which opens Venice’s Horizons section, seeks to redress this oversight, and pays tribute to Taro’s vivacious personality.

Marazzi was already acquainted with Taro’s work when Helena Janeczek’s novel about the photographer came out in 2018. Soon after, the two of them met to discuss how the story could be adapted for the cinema. The screenplay was written by Marazzi with Valia Santella, with the part of Taro taken by Emilia Schüle, best known for the lead role in “Marie-Antoinette.”

The greatest change that Marazzi made was to tell the story from the point of view of Taro herself, whereas the book had told her story through the recollections of three of her friends, as they meet in the 1960s, looking back at her life.

The film, on the other hand, centers on July 14, 1937, which is Bastille Day in France, a day celebrating freedom. Taro is seen meeting in Paris with her friends, including her lover and fellow photojournalist Endrè Friedmann, as she prepares to return to Spain to report on the Civil War.

Through flashbacks, the film shows how Taro, who was born Gerta Pohorylle, came to meet her friends, some of whom she had known in Leipzig when they had been left-wing activists, eventually fleeing when the Nazis took power.

In Paris, she develops an interest in photography and joins forces with Friedmann, with whom she invents the persona of American photographer Robert Capa, as a means of selling their work to the U.S. market. Many of her photographs were attributed to Capa, which obscured her contribution once Friedmann adopted the name for himself alone.

Through Taro’s eyes, the film takes in the cultural and artistic milieu around her in 1930s Paris, and in particular the community of émigrés from Eastern and Central Europe. These refugees often had to adopt new roles in order to survive. Among Taro’s circle were Fred Stein and David “Chim” Seymour, who both became leading photographers. Photography, as well as being a means to earn a living, also enabled them to develop a “visual language” and “express their vision,” Marazzi tells Variety as she prepares to debut her film in Venice.

Seymour, born Dawid Szymin, went on to set up the pioneering photo agency Magnum in 1947, along with Capa and Henri Cartier-Bresson, among others. Like Taro, both Seymour and Capa died while on assignment, a reminder of the dangers of photojournalism. Three boxes of photo negatives, taken by Taro, Capa and Seymour during the Spanish Civil War, went missing in 1940, and were only rediscovered in 2007 – after which it was possible to take stock of Taro’s role in the development of photojournalism.

In developing the view of Taro’s personality, as well as drawing on Janeczek’s novel, Marazzi leant on the first ever biography of Taro, written by German historian Irme Schaber. This added details of Taro’s political engagement in 1930s Germany, where she – along with other left-wing friends such as Georg Kuritzkes – opposed the rise of nationalism.

The film also gives an insight into her motivation for travelling to Spain during the Civil War, “hoping for a better society,” as Marazzi puts it.

The film details the deprivation of everyday life for Taro and Ruth Cerf, another friend from Leipzig, when they first arrive in Paris. But despite the hardship, the mise en scène presented is far from bleak. It is a view of “young, simple, penniless people who like to have fun and enjoy life,” Marazzi says.

As well as her political commitment, the film focuses on the “light-hearted” side of Taro. It shows Taro and her friends living life day by day, engaging in romantic affairs and strong friendships.

“She was a young, lively, pretty, seductive woman, so she’s not giving up her personal life in order to become a strong, politically committed photographer,” Marazzi says. “It’s the combination of these two aspects that I thought was important to tell.”

She adds, “I think it is part of life when you are in your 20s. You are not just a two-dimensional character who only believes that you have to go and fight for a better world.”

Marazzi didn’t want to create a “proper period piece,” so the actors speak in a contemporary way. “As a woman, Gerda comes across as a very contemporary figure in the way she is trying to define her identity. She is finding out about herself as she goes along.”

To emphasize Taro’s sparkling personality and the emotions that are roiling inside her, the film evokes visual imagery such as fireworks exploding in the background to celebrate Bastille Day and some vivid red flowers given to her by Friedmann. Marazzi says she let herself “be seduced by the beauty of the imagery,” and adds that she was also “influenced by the experimental and avant-garde cinema of the 1930s.”

The film’s contemporary relevance is clear, in the filmmaker’s view. “There are many similarities between the 1930s and now, with the rise of right-wing nationalism reminding us of this time,” Marazzi says. Added to that, “the involvement of journalists in conflicts like Ukraine and Gaza can be traced back to the Spanish Civil War,” she says. Now, as then, journalists are highlighting that “democratic values are at stake,” she says. Marazzi also points out that “many media people have died” in both conflicts. “If Gerda was alive now, she would probably be travelling to one of those two places,” she says.

Disney confirmed its second-ever Pixar franchise to get its own trilogy, which will happen in the next few years. Despite Disney and Pixar’s successes over the last few decades, the studios have not expanded many of their hit stories beyond one movie into theatrical sequels. This trend is set to change over the next few years, with one of Pixar’s most beloved franchises helping take the lead in that effort.

During Disney’s D23 Entertainment Showcase, Pixar CCO Pete Docter reconfirmed that a third Incredibles movie is in development, complete with a new look at the movie’s characters. The movie is set to be released on June 16, 2028, and it will “[round] out the trilogy,” according to Docter:

“‘Incredibles 3’ is coming 2028, in the summer, rounding of the trilogy. The Parr family and Frozone are back.”

Pixar

This will be only the second Pixar franchise to ever have three movies, joining Owen Wilson’s Cars trilogy. Those three films were released in 2006, 2011, and 2017, showcasing Wilson’s Lightning McQueen and his companions in a world featuring sentient cars and an epic story centered on the Piston Cup and other challenges.

While Toy Story was initially a trilogy as of 2010, it has since expanded into two more movies that were released in 2019 and 2026. Reportedly, there are also early story ideas floating around for two new sequels, although those have not been officially confirmed yet. Ahead are nine other franchises under Disney’s purview that are expected or confirmed to become trilogies:

Disney Franchises Expected to Become Trilogies

Moana

Disney

While the live-action Moana became one of this year’s biggest flops, its animated predecessors are two of Disney’s best-performing princess-centric movies ever. Starring Auli’i Cravalho, the story follows the young Moana as she learns to lead her island and people, forms a friendship with Dwayne Johnson’s Maui (a demigod of the wind and sea), finds her place in the world, and eventually becomes a demigod herself.

Johnson then confirmed that Moana 3 is in the works during a press conference for the live-action movie, setting up the story to be completed as a trilogy. While plot details have not been revealed, Moana is expected to have a confrontation with Nalo after the sequel’s post-credits scene, as Nalo’s influence could consume the entire ocean.

Zootopia

Disney

After the initial Zootopia movie was released in 2016, Zootopia 2 expanded on the story in 2025, both centering on Ginnifer Goodwin’s Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman’s Nick Wilde. This story explores the titular city and its population of anthropomorphic animals, with Judy working as a cop in the Zootopia Police Department and uncovering the city’s long-held historical secrets (as the second movie became one of the ten highest-grossing films ever as well).

Disney then confirmed Zootopia 3 for development at D23, setting the stage for this story’s next chapter. This time, Judy and Nick will deal with the influx of birds in this saga, putting the spotlight on the avian side of nature for what could be the final piece of this trilogy.

Inside Out

Pixar

First introduced in 2015, Inside Out took a look inside the mind of a young girl and her emotions, showing how she dealt with feelings like anger, disgust, joy, and more behind a voice cast filled with A-listers. The 2024 sequel introduced new players like anxiety, envy, and embarrassment into the mix, which led to this movie joining Zootopia 2 as one of cinema’s 10 highest-grossing movies ever.

Based on how successful the first two movies were, Inside Out is expected to get a third movie before long. If confirmed, it would likely look at Riley’s growth from a middle-schooler to either a high-schooler or college student, introducing even more emotions that tie more closely to adulthood.

Monsters Inc

Pixar

Monsters, Inc. first hit screens in 2001, showing John Goodman’s James P. Sullivan (“Sully”) and Billy Crystal’s Mike Wazowski’s wild adventure in Monstropolis when a human child (“Boo”) threatens the safety of all monsters. Pixar then took a unique route by giving this movie a prequel in 2013, Monsters University, retconning Mike and Sully’s origin stories, and having them meet in college with a rivalry brewing between them.

In March 2026, reports revealed that Pixar is now developing a third Monsters, Inc. movie, which has not been officially confirmed yet. This film will likely be more of a true sequel that follows Mike and Sully after taking over their company, but further plot details are still up in the air.

Princess Diaries

Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis in poster for 'The Princess Diaries 2.'
Disney

Disney brought Anne Hathaway into the spotlight alongside Dame Julie Andrews in 2001’s The Princess Diaries, showing Mia Thermopolis’ journey from awkward high-schooler to Princess of the fictional nation of Genovia. Three years later, the two teamed up again for The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, in which Mia faced the tall order of marrying another royal to hold onto her position of power.

Further confirmed at D23, Disney announced that Hathaway will now return for The Princess Diaries 3; however, Andrews confirmed that she is retired from acting and will not reprise her role. Crazy Rich Asians director Adele Lim will direct the new movie, and no plot details have been announced yet.

Hocus Pocus

Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy in poster for 'Hocus Pocus 2.'
Disney

Long after its debut in 1993, Hocus Pocus became a cult classic, centered on the Sanderson sisters’ reign of terror over the town of Salem in their return to life 300 years after they were hanged. In 2022, the sisters returned to action in Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+, interacting with a trio of young teenagers who resurrect them before they look for a way to achieve ultimate power, causing more havoc in Salem.

Less than a year later, Disney confirmed plans to develop Hocus Pocus 3 but did not announce any cast, director, writers, or release date. How the Sanderson sisters are brought back to life for a third time is still unclear, but they will surely cause plenty of chaos in Salem when they unite with potentially a third new cast of co-stars.

National Treasure

Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates in poster for 'National Treasure.'
Disney

Nicolas Cage delivered one of his most beloved characters ever (Benjamin Franklin Gates) in 2004’s National Treasure, in which he stole the Declaration of Independence to find a hidden map leading to a fortune hidden by the USA’s founding fathers. 2007’s National Treasure: Book of Secrets shows Gates traveling the Earth to clear his family’s name, bringing his parents (played by Jon Voight and Dame Helen Mirren) in as major support for his quest to find the secret diary of the United States President.

After plenty of exciting but non-concrete updates, director Jon Turteltaub confirmed that National Treasure 3 is happening, likely with Cage returning to his role. As of writing, Disney has not officially announced the movie, and no plot details have been shared with the public.

Maleficent

Michelle Pfeiffer, Angelina Jolie, and Elle Fanning in 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' poster.
Disney

In 2014, Angelina Jolie took on the leading role in Maleficent, retelling the story of the powerful antagonist from 1959’s Sleeping Beauty from her perspective and showing the events that hardened her heart and led her to curse Princess Aurora. The 2019 sequel (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) shows Maleficent celebrating Aurora’s wedding to Prince Phillip before meeting Aurora’s future mother-in-law, a conniving queen who wants to destroy the land’s fairies, leading Maleficent to try to stop her.

Jolie publicly stated that she was attached to Maleficent 3, which was in development as of 2023, and writer Linda Woolveton was added in 2025 to pen the script. However, there has been no official word on whether the movie will still be made or if it has been shelved.

Black Panther

poster for 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.'
Disney

First coming to the big screen in 2018, Black Panther became one of the MCU’s most successful solo movies, showing the late Chadwick Boseman’s King T’Challa navigating a civil war in Wakanda and dealing with Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger. The 2022 sequel (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) focused on Letitia Wright’s Shuri after Boseman’s death, telling a story of grief as she handled an attack from Namor the Sub-Mariner and his people of Talokan.

Now, director Ryan Coogler is confirmed to continue his work on the untitled Black Panther 3, which is set to hit theaters on December 15, 2028. Along with Wright’s return and an undisclosed role for Oscar-winner Denzel Washington, David Jonsson will join the franchise as T’Challa’s son from Wakanda Forever‘s post-credits scene, now an adult and set to become a power player in his own right.

James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, has recently wrapped principal photography, setting the stage for a massive cinematic team-up as David Corenswet’s Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor reluctantly join forces against the cosmic threat of Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac. Alongside returning favorites like Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and members of the Justice Gang like Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, the highly anticipated 2027 sequel is shaping up to be an incredibly packed expansion of the universe. However, the burgeoning roster isn’t just pulling from the immediate circle of Metropolis, as a former DCEU star has officially confirmed their return to the new DCU mainline.

Sitting firmly within Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, Man of Tomorrow is positioned as a pivotal, foundational pillar for the fresh cinematic continuity. Gunn recently confirmed that the upcoming sequel will operate in “real-time” relative to its theatrical debut, anchoring the narrative in the summer of 2027. Consequently, a time jump of roughly two years will have passed since the events of the first Superman movie, directly setting the stage for unexpected alliances and fresh faces to emerge across the franchise.

While the core narrative centers around Superman and Luthor, the looming threat of Brainiac naturally opens the door for other established heroes to step up to the plate. One such hero is Blue Beetle, as Xolo Maridueña has officially confirmed his role as Jaime Reyes, marking his first major appearance since his 2023 standalone debut. The actor addressed the news while speaking to Variety, as he admitted that he was surprised when Gunn personally called him about joining the star-studded cast of Man of Tomorrow:

“I was in Japan with my friends; nobody knew anything. And I just see, like the Bat-phone, my phone rings [and it’s] James Gunn. All my friends look at me, and I had to leave the room. I came back, and I was like, ‘Off the record, don’t tell anyone, but we’re coming back,’ and I’m so excited for people to see where Blue Beetle ends up.”

Maridueña added that he felt incredibly “humbled” when he was offered the opportunity to reprise his role as the scarab-powered hero in the new DCU – a move that seemingly secures his place in the future of the universe. “There’s never a guarantee with anything,” he told the outlet. “I mean, you know this, stuff flips on a dime, and I know that it’s not always like a merit-based system. So, there’s so much that’s out of my control, but I am just the most humbled of James and the greater DC team for folding us in, Indiana Jones style.”

Maridueña’s integration into Man of Tomorrow marks a substantial step forward for both the actor and the character, officially elevating Jaime Reyes from a localized, family-driven origin story into a powerhouse player on the galactic stage – though it is not yet known how large a role he will play in the DCU film. Audiences will be able to track his blockbuster evolution and see exactly how the hero handles the ultimate cosmic conflict when the Superman sequel opens in theaters on Jul. 9, 2027, two years after its predecessor.

Hideki Kamiya, director of the original Resident Evil 2, says Capcom should give players the option to turn down the horror in future instalment, arguing that the series’ developers have become too numb to how frightening their games are.

Clovers boss Kamiya has previously expressed his dislike of horror games, including calling for a ‘non-scary’ mode and brainstorming a ‘cozy’ Resident Evil spin-off featuring a retired Leon Kennedy walking his dog.

Speaking to VGC in a recent interview, the designer – who also worked on the original Resident Evil game 30 years ago – clarified that he was “one hundred percent serious” with his proposal that horror be made optional in the Capcom series and said that he’d shared his feedback with members of the Resident Evil team.

Kamiya said he was unable to play through this year’s Resident Evil Requiem, despite wanting to experience its return to Raccoon City, where Leon Kennedy revisits the events of the original Resident Evil 2.

“Speaking about that tweet the other day, specifically, I’ve never been a fan of horror. I mean, even from the time I was young, I could never handle it,” Kamiya said. “I don’t like horror, and I don’t like scary things. I’m not able to make it through scary movies, and that was even the case back in the day.

“But nowadays, with how photorealistic and high-fidelity video games have gotten, the amount of crazy, horrifying things that people are able to put on the screen is absolutely insane, and I think anybody who’s on the Resident Evil teams at Capcom, at this point, they must all be completely numb to how scary the thing they’re making is.”

Hideki Kamiya has proposed a ‘non-scary’ mode for Resident Evil games.

He continued: “This is not a joke; I’m being one hundred percent serious when I say that I wish they would make it so that their games can also be enjoyed by people like me, who can’t handle scary games at all.

“I mean, just recently this year we had Resident Evil Requiem and the big return of Leon Kennedy, and he went back to Raccoon City, and he’s reliving all of those memories and all of those experiences. As somebody who directed that original game, Resident Evil 2, I was curious to know how that panned out for him. I wanted to experience that myself as a player, but the game was way too scary, and I couldn’t.

“And so, it’s not a joke. I legitimately wished it would include some kind of non-horror mode for people like me, because I talk to folks who are on the Resident Evil teams at Capcom just privately, and I tell them that their games are way too scary, and they’re like, ‘what, come on, they’re not that scary’. They seriously seem to have no awareness of how scary the things they make actually are, so I really hope they address that at some point.”

Kamiya says Resident Evil can learn from his Bayonetta options

Hideki Kamiya says Resident Evil developers have lost sight of how scary their games are
Bayonetta introduced modes that make the game more approachable.

Kamiya isn’t calling for Capcom to make Resident Evil less frightening by default, but argues that horror could be treated like other optional elements of a game, pointing to the accessibility and content options he introduced in Bayonetta.

“[Bayonetta is] obviously a game that at its core is an extremely technical action game targeting the most advanced action game players, but I also wanted anybody to be able to pick up the game and enjoy it, which is why we included the Very Easy Automatic mode,” he explained.

“Also with Bayonetta 3, we upped the exposure or nudity factor when she does her attacks, and her clothes come off, but we know that some people might object to that, so we also included in the Naïve Angel Mode where we toned down a lot of that exposure.”

Kamiya said he doesn’t “see any reason” why Resident Evil can’t do the same thing with “just turning down the horror dials a little bit”.

“I mean, it doesn’t even have to be anything super elaborate. You could just make it so that the zombies’ faces aren’t so scary. Why not have a mode that just puts, like, brown paper bags on all of their heads, or instead of having these dark, dingy rooms everywhere, they could have really pleasant mood lighting.

“I think even just making a few tweaks like those, it would make it so that somebody like me could make it all the way through the games. Oh, and no blood!”

Kamiya said that, because he knew the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 “like the back of my hand”, the games lost their ability to scare him.

“Which is precisely why I don’t think the teams at Capcom fully understand how scary the games that they’re making actually are!” He continued. “I told [series producer] Takeuchi-san to his face, ‘your games are too scary!’ And he was like, ‘what? Seriously?!’

“I get codes for every new Resident Evil when it comes out and it always comes with an email saying, ‘hey, we hope you enjoy the game!’ And I’ll send back an email thanking them for the code, and say, ‘well, I’d love to play the game, but unfortunately it’s too scary for me, so I’m not going to be able to’, they come back with, ‘Oh, come on, it’s not that scary, you can do it!’”
