At a time when AI is increasingly being used to replace human creativity, “Just Dance” is refusing to change its hands-on approach.
The Ubisoft dance game, which just launched “Just Dance: Decades of Hits” on Tuesday, brings on-screen characters to life through a process rooted in human labor. Real dancers wear handmade costumes, wigs and makeup before being filmed against a green screen and integrated into the game.
“We are really loving what we do. It’s our art. It’s what we love,” Benjamin Jouffret, the game’s costume designer and character lead, tells Variety. “We are proud of working, sketching ourselves, creating what is in our minds and making real costumes with real costume makers.”
Jouffret says his team is committed to creating its characters without AI. Having studied fashion and previously working as a stylist, Jouffret has spent the past eight years overseeing the costumes and characters that appear on-screen.
The process begins with a brainstorming session, during which the creative team listens to a song and watches its music video to determine the direction of a character. Sometimes the team draws inspiration directly from the artist, other times opting to take the concept in a completely different direction.

These decisions also inform the game’s maps, which combine the characters with their backgrounds and surrounding environments. “If you want to create a map for the community or the hardcore players, we know that they will really want to have a connection with the singers,” Jouffret explains. “If you have a Lady Gaga song, you want Easter eggs. For that, we are really inspired by the artists.”
From there, the team determines whether the dance will feature a solo performer or a duo or trio, as well as the type of character that fits best. Sometimes, up to 10 characters will be featured in one dance.
“We also decide if you want a casual costume, or an alien or a mascot or a nonbinary character,” Joufrett says. “We do a lot of things.”
His team then assembles mood boards using references from films, music videos and other media before developing sketches and finalizing designs. Once a concept is approved, the team consults its roster of dancers to find someone who can embody the character and complement the choreographer’s vision.
Overall, the timeline is relatively short. After a one-day brainstorming session, the team typically spends two to three weeks designing a character, followed by roughly four weeks of production. That period includes fittings, hair and makeup tests and rehearsals to ensure the costumes work with the choreography. Filming takes place over a single day.

Across the game’s Paris-based lead studio and its partner studio in Shanghai, the team creates roughly 100 costumes per installment, balancing visual appeal with practicality.
“We can’t make beautiful costumes if they can’t be used by the dancers,” Jouffret explains. “We can do what we want, but we have to do it smartly.”
The team previously experimented with 3D printing, but the materials proved too heavy for dancers to move comfortably in. Today, that technique is reserved for accessories requiring smaller, intricate details.
For Jouffret, the trial and error of the process is part of what makes the game so special. “We really love to create and make things by ourselves,” he says.

His team collaborates with costume makers and other specialists, each bringing expertise in areas such as mascots, corsets and casual wear. “Just Dance” releases a new installment every year, sometimes revisiting characters and storylines from previous games. Ikka Movie Review: Siddharth P Malhotra’s Ikka is one of those films that’s all style and very little substance. It takes pride in being a slick legal suspense drama. It also strives for a cerebral edge. The narrative is packed with twists, turns and anti-climaxes but the problem is that most of them can be seen coming from a mile away. It’s ambitious but unfortunately crumbles under its own weight.
The film opens with a gruesome sequence. Shouryamann Gaur, the son of a rich industrialist and politician, meets a young Soma Mittal at a bar in South Mumbai. A few drinks down, they decide to spend the night together. But during their ride, Soma is violently attacked by Shouryamann. He eventually pushes her off the car on a deserted road to die alone.
The scene then cuts to ‘undefeated defense lawyer’ Arjun Mehra addressing a town hall where he poses a tough question: Is a truck driver and a car driver equal in the eyes of court and justice? But his talk gets interrupted with a frantic call from his wife Avantika, who informs him that their daughter Samaira has been admitted to a hospital.
It’s revealed that Samaira has been diagnosed with advanced-stage leukemia. When doctors inform the family that the only way to save her is through a stem cell transplant from a parent, we learn that Arjun isn’t her biological father. Meanwhile, on the professional front, Arjun is approached to fight Shouryamann’s case but refuses owing to deep-seated personal differences with him.
Soon, his personal and professional worlds become intertwined in a cruel twist of fate. The only way to save Samaira’s life now hinges on his ability to secure a victory for Shouryamann. Enter Madhura Banerjee, a public prosecutor who stands in his way. As Soma slips into a coma and Samaira fights for survival, the courtroom transforms into a labyrinth of moral dilemmas and high-stakes confrontations.
But not every peak point that appears compelling on paper translates effectively to the screen and Ikka falls squarely into that trap. Coherence is not its strongest suit. In a post-interval scene, Arjun tells Madhura, “Yours isn’t a watertight case.” Ironically, that line sums up the film’s biggest problem. There’s a lot happening at once but very little of it comes together in a convincing manner.
A middling screenplay, lazy writing, less-than-crisp editing and a lack of sustained tension prevent Ikka from realising what it had set out to achieve. The central moral dilemma – a man torn between his professional ethics and his desperate need to save his daughter – should have been the film’s emotional and dramatic backbone. Instead, it remains frustratingly underdeveloped.
Arjun’s inner conflict rarely lands with the weight it deserves, and as a result, the audience never truly invests in his predicament. And instead of adding emotional depth to the narrative, the exchanges between Arjun and Avantika as they grapple with their daughter’s condition often feel like interruptions rather than organic extensions of the story.
Their moments of heartbreak are meant to humanise the characters but they end up disrupting the film’s momentum. Coupled with a sluggish second half, Ikka stretches itself thin, building towards a payoff that never quite arrives. As for the performances, Arjun may not be Sunny Deol’s career best performance but it surely is a gush of fresh air.
After all the theatrics and histrionics, he chooses to not play to the gallery this time, mostly downplaying the emotional moments, moral dilemmas and courtroom sequences. Having said that, he’s sometimes seen breaking out of character, bringing his Tara Singh-esque high decible energy that suddenly leads him to bang on a table, almost startling you.
But don’t expect Arjun to be an extension of Govind Srivastav from Damini. Arjun is less aggressive and less impulsive. His mantra? Never character-assassinate a woman even if it may make you win a case. But this is a rather one-tone character – no arc, no edge, no nuance, no surprises. And the ace cards he’s supposed to throw feel more like a duece.
Tillotama Shome as Madhura is nothing that we haven’t seen her in. But she holds her own against Sunny. Dia Mirza unfortunately fails to rise above an undercooked character, rendering hardly anything substantial to the narrative. But Ikka does the biggest disservice to Akshaye Khanna, who plays Shouryamann. For an actor as effortless compelling as him, the film offers remarkably little.
He’s relegated to a corner of the courtroom with that one constant brooding expression, which hardly makes him a worthy opponent to Arjun. The makers saddle him with a handful of dry repartees, wasting both his screen presence and dramatic potential. His dialogues are clearly designed to land as mic-drop moments but they barely register, let alone elicit the reaction they seem to be aiming for.
A cardboard cut-out of a rich, spoilt and entitled brat, he never stands out. It truly takes a special kind of talent to under-utilise Akshaye. Vijay Vikram Singh, who plays the judge, in fact, becomes more memorable than him. Sanjeeda Sheikh, who essays Shouryamann’s wife Gauri, is also made to fizzle out despite starting off as promising. Akansha Ranjan Kapoor in a cameo doesn’t leave a mark.
In a nutshell, Ikka is a damp squib. Like a house of cards, it’s fragile at its core. The collapse is inevitable. Our advice? Skip this film, play teen patti or Uno instead.

Discovery+, one of Skydance’s new streaming assets, will now cost $6.99 a month for its ad-supported tier, up $1. Its ad-free tier is also up $2, costing viewers $11.99 a month. The prices take effect immediately for new subscribers. Existing subscribers will get 30 days’ notice and see the higher rates on bills dated on or after Nov. 12.
Skydance did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The platform first launched in 2021, at $4.99 a month for its ad-supported tier and $6.99 for ad-free. Nearly six years later, the price of the cheapest tier has risen roughly 40%, and the ad-free tier has jumped about 72%. This is the service’s second price hike since January 2025.
The standalone streaming service features tens of thousands of TV episodes from cable networks like HGTV, Food Network and TLC.
Before the merger, each company maintained its own streaming services, with HBO Max and Discovery+ under Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount+ under Paramount Skydance. The services are currently operating as separate entities. But David Ellison, Skydance’s chairman and chief executive, has said he plans to merge the two platforms into one streaming service. It’s unclear when that might happen, what it would cost, or where Discovery+ fits in. The company has not publicly laid out plans for the service.
Prices for HBO Max currently range between $10.99 and $22.99 monthly. Paramount+ costs between $8.99 and $13.99 a month.
Streaming is one of the biggest open questions for Skydance as it enters a new era. The company is carrying roughly $80 billion in debt and is targeting more than $6 billion in cost savings over three years. Skydance has said those savings will come primarily from technology, procurement, marketing and real estate, and Ellison has said the bulk won’t come from layoffs. Industry observers expect that debt load to add pressure for more price increases across Skydance’s streaming lineup.
This price increase also comes at a time when many streaming platforms are similarly hiking their prices — in part to cover the rising cost of programming and talent. Discovery+ joins platforms like Netflix, Apple TV, Hulu and Disney+ which have all raised their subscription fees in the last year. Prime Video raised the cost of its ad-free add-on in April.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark was hellbent on putting a suit of armor around the world. However, he knew he couldn’t be the one moving all the chess pieces around the board. So, with help from Bruce Banner and the Mind Stone, he developed Ultron, an AI designed to protect the world from major threats. The only problem was that Ultron had a different outlook on Earth, wanting to raze it and start fresh.

To help him reach that goal, Ultron built a new vessel that would eventually become Vision, outfitted with Tony’s original AI assistant, JARVIS. Losing his longtime friend was a tough blow for the Avenger. But Tony had a backup plan: other AIs ready to fill JARVIS’ massive shoes. Before the final battle in Age of Ultron, Tony weighed his options and chose FRIDAY, leaving TADASHI and Jocasta on the bench.
TADASHI’s inclusion in the movie was a nod to Disney’s Big Hero 6, so it wasn’t a surprise he got passed over. Her next target must be someone with a personal connection to Tony, maybe even the very AI who took her spot.
FRIDAY returns in VisionQuest as one of the AIs occupying Vision’s mindpsace. She’s set to brush shoulders with JARVIS, Dum-E, U, and even Ultron. And the last thing she’s going to want to do is put any of them in danger. If Jocasta is after her and her alone, she might decide to abandon the mindspace and face her enemy head-on.
In Endgame, FRIDAY was there with Tony right up until the end. She witnessed his brave sacrifice during the Battle of Earth, when he used all the Infinity Stones, knowing it would kill him. Now it could be her turn to make the sacrifice play and cut the virtual wire. Of course, there’s a chance Jocasta sees the error of her ways before it’s too late and walks the same path her comic book counterpart did, paving the way for her to become one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

A while back, we learned that Academy Award winning director Ryan Coogler (put some respect on his name!) was in the early stages of bringing his own The X-Files project to streaming. Rockstar Games is planning to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 early next year, a new report claims.
GamesBeat says the PC version is set to be released in the first quarter of 2027, meaning it should be out by the end of March 2027.
The report cites four separate industry sources, all of whom are said to be familiar with Rockstar‘s plans but all of whom requested to be kept anonymous to avoid damaging their relationship with the studio.
If true, the news would mean PC players would only have to wait four months at most after the game is released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19.
This would be a notable improvement over Grand Theft Auto 5 – which took a year and seven months to come to PC – and even Grand Theft Auto 4, which took around seven months.
Earlier this year, former Rockstar producer John Ricchio – who produced Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto 5 – said that Rockstar’s decision to release GTA 6 on consoles first wouldn’t be an anti-PC stance, but rather a case of resource management.
Ricchio explained to Kiwi Talkz that Rockstar’s policy is to concentrate on the console versions first, because then the hardware’s limitations are known to the developers, and then worry about making a PC version later – as opposed to making the PC version first then trying to figure out how to get it working on potentially less powerful hardware.
“Most of the time you take what you’ve got,” Ricchio explained, “and that’s a lot of times why people love developing initially on PC, and then porting over: ‘Before ship, we’ll get everything onto console’.
“I think that’s less fashionable now, but there was a time where that was kind of a thing, where ‘we’ll make it run on PC and then we’ll go to these other platforms’, and it just causes so much problems down at the end. So you’re much better off starting with the constraints.”

Raye said that the on-sale for her upcoming one-off This Symphony May Contain Hope concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall has been “overwhelmed” by scalpers using AI bots trying to get their hands on tickets.
The British singer-songwriter took to socials late Monday, noting that the show had seen 1.8 million sign-ups for the 5,000-cap concert date, and that the scalpers’ AI bots had caused “hundreds of thousands of fake registrations.”
“It is a new world we are living in now, I have never witnessed bots on this scale,” Raye wrote, further noting that her team is going through the sign-ups to determine real fan registrations. “It is so important to me that fans can buy tickets at the face value price. Therefore rather than risk opening a presale that scalpers could exploit, we felt the best and safest solution for this specific show was to manually review the sign-up list to identify a shortlist of people we believe are real fans.”
Alongside the competition concerns on the primary ticket market — Ticketmaster and Live Nation recently lost a consequential monopoly lawsuit in the U.S. — predatory resale on the secondary market is one of the biggest issues beleaguering the live music industry today. While concert ticket prices continue to climb, face value ticket prices on the market’s highest-demand shows are still often less than what the market could bear, drawing in resellers.
In the U.S., several markets such as Massachusetts, Washington, D.C. and Vermont have begun adopting laws to place caps on how much a ticket can be re-sold for in an effort to curb ticket brokers, garnering support from musicians including Noah Kahan as well as criticism from the brokers themselves. California sought to adopt a price cap law this year as well, though the bill, which faced extensive lobbying from ticket resale platform StubHub, had failed.
In her post on Monday night, Raye said that “I’m not sure what the future holds for ticketing,” further adding that “I do know this experience really opened my eyes.”

Lucian Piane, the former RuPaul’s Drag Racemusic producer and writer on a number of RuPaul’s hit songs, has died. He was 46.
Piane died Monday, per the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, after being involved in a traffic collision in Glendale, People reported.
World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, shared a tribute on Instagram Tuesday, which read, “We are devastated to learn of the passing of Lucian Piane. Lucian left behind a legacy of truly beautiful music. May his struggles never dim the memories of a sweet man, a dear friend, and a master musician. Rest in peace, Lucian.”
Longtime judge and executive producer Michelle Visage wrote in the comments, “Such a beautiful soul, so talented…such a loss.”
He was born in in Kansas City, Missouri in October 1980, and graduated from New York University with a bachelor of music in musical composition in 2003.
Piane began working on RuPaul’s Drag Race during its debut season in 2009; he often lent his songwriting talents to the show’s Rusical (a play on the word “RuPaul” and “musical.”) He remained on the series through its eighth season, and also worked on the All Stars spinoff.
Aside from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Piane also collaborated with RuPaul on his own personal music, co-writing and producing some of his beloved hits including “Cover Girl,” “Sissy That Walk,” “Glamazon,” “Peanut Butter” and “Freaky Money,” among others.
Piane also earned a Grammy nomination tied to his work on 2007’s Hairspray.
After his tenure with the show, the music producer struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues. He had recently shared on Instagram in August that he had been sober for over a year.
Two of the biggest music superstars on the planet have harnessed their powers. On Thursday (Oct. 15), Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan will release a remix of the former’s “expectations,” originally found on the global No. 1 Interscope album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
The new version will be joined by a video featuring both artists and directed by Bardia Zeinali (Sabrina Carpenter, KATSEYE, Tate McRae). Limited seven-inch vinyl singles, CDs and cassettes can be pre-ordered from Rodrigo and Roan’s online stores. Producer/songwriter Daniel Nigro produced the “expectations” remix, extending his longtime close collaboration with both acts.
“She’s taught me so much about artistry and being creative and how to take care of yourself on the road,” Rodrigo told Entertainment Tonight of Roan in 2024. “She’s just so wonderful. She always reminds me that we’re constantly changing and you’re never stuck in one era of your life. You can always reinvent and be more creative and do fun things.”
Later that year, she told Billboard, “[Roan] actually gives me so much advice on taking care of myself and being me in an industry that’s so overwhelming sometimes. I really appreciate her. If I give her any advice, I’m not so sure. But I get a lot from her.” Ahead of the “expectations” remix, Roan was on hand in late August to perform at Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, Ca., which raised $20 million for nonprofits advocating for women and girls.
Rodrigo is in the midst of her Unraveled tour in support of you seem pretty sad, which plays Boston on Thursday. On Oct. 21-22, Roan will host the Super Graphic Spectacular and Block Party at the Shrine in Los Angeles, bringing together Caroline Polachek, Lola Young, MUNA, Tinashe and a host of drag, burlesque and circus performers.
The event serves as the flagship fundraiser for Roan’s Midwest Princess Project, the nonprofit initiative she launched in 2025 to support trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities.
Later this month, Roan will host her own charity fundraiser, The Super Graphic Spectacular and The Super Graphic Block Party, a two-day, Los Angeles–based charity fundraiser that features live entertainment, volunteer opportunities, and meaningful community engagement. Greta Gerwig is inviting audiences to enter the epic world of Narnia with “The Magician’s Nephew,” for which the first trailer was unveiled on Tuesday.
Based on the C.S. Lewis classic “The Chronicles of Narnia,” the story follows two children, Digory and Polly, who are the first to discover the “Wood between the Worlds,” otherwise known as Narnia. Scored to Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” the trailer opens with Daniel Craig’s Andrew Ketterley — the titular magician — opining that “sometimes one story is the beginning of all the others” before he gives the youngsters a magical ring that transports them to various fantastical lands. The kids are spellbound as they come into contact with mythical creatures, beings and beasts including Emma Mackey’s Jadis, the future White Witch and last Queen of Charn, and Fledge, a talking horse who is capable of flight.
“Have you ever seen a world born?” Ketterley asks before a glimpse of Aslan, the mythical lion voiced by the one and only Meryl Streep, singing Narnia to life.
Ahead of the trailer’s launch, Netflix hosted a preview event for press and social media influencers at New York’s AMC Lincoln Square. Attendees were treated at 9 a.m. to colorful cocktails, popcorn, boxed candy and tray-passed hors d’oeuvres. Gerwig was interviewed by Stephen Colbert, who asked the Oscar-nominated director about adapting the beloved Lewis novel, finding young actors David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell to anchor the movie, and populating the world with stars such as Streep, Craig, Carey Mulligan and Ciarán Hinds.
“I don’t remember a time I didn’t know the books,” Gerwig said. “I wouldn’t be who I am without these books.”
Gerwig said she found herself in Netflix’s orbit around the time the streamer was releasing her husband Noah Baumbach’s 2019’s film “Marriage Story.” A year prior, Netflix had acquired the rights to “The Chronicles of Narnia” property.
“I made a beeline for Ted Sarandos at a cocktail party and said, ‘I really think you should start with ‘The Magician’s Nephew,’” said Gerwig, who joked that she continued to ramble about her thoughts to the CEO. “About 20 minutes later he said, ‘Do you want to write it?’ At that point, I had only made ‘Lady Bird’ and ‘Little Women.’ I hadn’t done ‘Barbie’ yet.”
“The Magician’s Nephew” is Gerwig’s first feature since 2023’s acclaimed box office smash “Barbie,” and the adaptation is notable as Netflix’s first movie to receive a global theatrical release. The film will opens in cinemas on Feb. 12, 2027 before landing on Netflix on April 2.
“I told Ted I only know how to make movies for the big screen,” Gerwig said. “‘He said, ‘Make the movie for the biggest screen and trust the process.’”
Gerwig spoke about casting McKenna and Campbell, having scouring through thousands of taped auditions over the course of several months, and recalled the instant she knew she found her leads.
“We were doing a screen test, which is intimidating for any actor, and there was a moment when Bea sniffled and David gestured off camera to get her a Kleenex. I thought, ‘Oh, these kids are already taking care of each other.’”
If McKenna and Campbell were intimidated to work with stars like Craig and Mulligan, they didn’t show it. Gerwig brought up a funny moment from set before the cameras started to roll. “We were doing rehearsals, and Daniel Craig said to the kids, ‘I’m a bit nervous,’ just to be nice,” Gerwig said. “And they said, ‘Don’t worry, Greta is really nice. You’ll be fine!’”
Gerwig has described “Narnia” as “a world made out of music” and shared she wants the movie to feel like a “rock opera.” So finding the right songs — including “Stairway to Heaven” — were central to bringing the story to life. Gerwig wrote to Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page and let them watch an early version to convince them to let her use their rock anthem in the movie.
“It’s an epic song, and narratively, about a spiritual journey, a path of fake idols and wrong roads you can go down. It made sense to introduce the world,” Gerwig said. “They saw the heart and story of the film.”
Gerwig wants audience to experience a similar sentiment when they finally get to see “The Magician’s Nephew.”
“I hope they laugh. I hope they cry. I hope they feel like they’ve been on an adventure,” Gerwig said. “I hope when they leave the theater, they want to make something… a song, a cake… creating is an act of hope.”
“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough slammed President Trump over his plan to import diesel fuel from Russia, telling him Tuesday to “stop bowing down” to Russian President Vladimir Putin and “start doing your job.”
“When you’re defending Vladimir Putin, an ex-KGB agent who is committing war crimes by the day, I’m not sure how you sleep at night,” Scarborough said, adding, “This phenomenon, though, has historical parallels. It was 89 years ago this month, in October 1937, that the former King of England walked up the steps of Adolf Hitler’s mountain retreat in Bavaria. The Duke of Windsor had given up the throne less than a year earlier, but he toured German factories, inspected the SS and was photographed greeting the Führer.”
“Britain aristocrats like the Astors and Lord Halifax thought Hitler was a man they could do business with. Does that sound familiar?” Scarborough continued. “History remembers them now as morally vacuous opportunists who looked at a tyrant who was devouring his neighbors. The only thing they saw? A business partner. The parallels with Trump are too on point.”
Scarborough went on to push back against Trump’s insistence that his Russian deal will lower gas prices in America.
“It won’t. The first shipment is only about 2.2 million barrels, and America burns through more than that every day,” the “Morning Joe” host explained. “It’s not going to lower gas prices in America, but it will help Putin kill innocents in Ukraine, a country Trump has always hated.”

Scarborough further lambasted Trump for “aping” Putin’s “talking points” and refusing to demonstrate the strength that Americans and many around the world expect from the U.S. president.
“This weak president [is] attacking Ukrainian freedom fighters and perversely calling for new leadership in Kyiv. We do need new leadership, Mr. President, but not in Ukraine,” Scarborough argued, remarking, “Donald, I’ve known you a long time, and I know you don’t read history, so let me tell you how this story ends. The Duke of Windsor ended up a footnote, a cautionary tale in a fancy suit, forever assigned to the dustbin of British history.”
“Your time to finally do the right thing in Ukraine, Mr. President, it’s running out,” Scarborough concluded. “Stop bowing down to Putin and start doing your job.”
The deal will see Fox Entertainment Studios have first look rights to developing feature film and television series from vertical series released under Hartbeat subsidiary brands Codeblack, Essence and Revolt, which have a combined social following exceeding 20 million.
Codeblack has partnered with Fox partner Holywater Tech, which runs vertical video platform My Drama, to have its own first dedicated branded channel. Hartbeat’s vertical series will launch on the platform first with Fox Entertainment Global subsequently distributing worldwide after their initial runs.
There are already 25 live-action titles in the works, spanning a range of genres from dramas and thrillers to faith-based content, designed as “the first stage of intellectual property development,” according to the press release. The plan is for stories that connect with audiences to advance into development for film and television, with Fox Entertainment Studios holding the first look.

Playback singer Sona Mohapatra has demanded accountability from the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi after he took to the streets in the national capital over the ongoing issue of alleged irregularities in India’s electoral system. On Tuesday, the singer took to her X, formerly Twitter, and penned a long note tagging the LoP, as she asked him to look after the local problems in Himachal Pradesh ruled by his party Indian National Congress.

The protestors have demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with protests in Delhi entering their 4th day on October 13, 2026. The movement is opposing the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging that the exercise has disenfranchised millions of voters.
The Election Commission and the BJP have denied allegations of manipulation. The protests began on October 10 with calls by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and fellow leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. They were later detained after arriving in Delhi for a planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Many protesters were also detained as authorities imposed extensive security restrictions.
The opposition has submitted a plea with the Apex Court, and has requested 10 things from the court including the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Comedian and internet personality Druski will host the Nov. 7 episode of “Saturday Night Live.” Druski, aka Drew Desbordes, will be the first online creator to host the sketch show.
Variety confirmed the news with multiple sources, though reps for “SNL” did not immediately respond to a request for comment and a rep for Druski declined to comment.
Druski joins a lineup of Season 52 hosts that has so far included Jalen Brunson, Dakota Johnson and Shane Gillis. “Obsession” breakout Indie Navarette is set to host the show’s Halloween episode with musical guest Gracie Abrams. Musical guests so far have have included Katseye, Turnstile and Rosaliá.
So far, there have already been a number of viral moments to come out of “SNL” Season 52; Gillis not only dropped an accidental f-bomb during a Dr. Seuss sketch, but also sparked outrage over his misogynistic opening monologue. “I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t know women just dress like whores now?” he said. “Look, I’m sorry, there’s no other way to describe [it]. Have you seen it? I’ve seen it.” Dan Levy shared a video to Instagram following the episode, saying that he was “speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.”

In Sept., “SNL” completed the Season 52 ensemble with two new cast members: Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie. Founding Avenger and brilliant scientist Hank Pym built Ultron while he was developing intelligent robots. Over his many encounters with the Avengers, Ultron continuously upgraded to new bodies with an ever-growing number of features. Ultron developed a wide array of superhuman skills across his various forms, including super-strength and several types of energy-based weapons. In any of his bodies, Ultron’s cunning and ruthlessness make him one of the most dangerous threats in the Marvel Universe.
By now, it should be very obvious that writing a compelling narrative around Superman is a notoriously tricky challenge. In fact, writing a compelling narrative around any near-invincible hero or villain brings an innate creative problem. After all, how do you get anyone to care about a conventional good versus bad story when there are no real stakes?
The answer, of course, is that you undermine that hero’s built-in godhood, either by nerfing their powers (as the MCU has done numerous times) or bringing in villains so unthinkably powerful that you end up locked into a cycle of cartoonish escalation to outdo each one (lest you copy the MCU’s Thanos problem). Luckily, you can also give your superhero god types convenient weaknesses, as DC did with Superman. So no matter how powerful he gets, he’s still vulnerable to magic, Kryptonite, psychic powers, and red sun radiation, to different degrees.
Superman also isn’t entirely unbeatable, even without considering all those well-publicized weaknesses, and there are some villains in superhero movies who could definitely take him down. He’s been beaten enough times in DC’s comics that there is still a believability to threats, and the various live-action versions of Superman in movies have shown him being beaten down or even killed.
Since it always tends to inspire discussion, finding more villains who could give Superman a good fight – or destroy him entirely – is its own reward. And luckily, superhero movies have provided some notable further examples over the years. In their honor, here are six more superhero movie villains who possess the raw strength, power output, or specific powers to defeat the Man of Steel, ranked from least to most powerful.

Doomsday
It’s not a cheat to include Doomsday on a list of threats capable of taking down Superman, considering he already managed it in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The DCEU’s version of DC’s classic villain was reimagined as a monstrous bio-weapon engineered by Lex Luthor from Ancient Kryptonian DNA and his own blood in a Genesis Chamber. The hulking mutant was capable of absorbing attacks, and actually becoming stronger through adaptive evolution. So every time Superman hit him with a heat vision blast or beat him down, Doomsday simply came back more powerful, with greater, spikier defenses, and harder to beat.
It’s telling that Superman only managed to stop Doomsday by sacrificing his own life with a Kryptonite spear, with tactical support from Batman and Wonder Woman. In a straightforward brawl, without external weapons or help, Doomsday’s reactive powers would make him an impossible obstacle for live-action Superman. And if that’s not terrifying enough, in the comics, the true limit of his potential is even higher, and his adaptive evolution is so highly tuned that any time something defeats him, he can never be beaten the same way a second time.

Thanos

Even without the fully-powered Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is still a powerhouse, proving it with stunningly little effort in Avengers: Infinity War by dismantling the Hulk in a fist fight. In all honesty, Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan barely looks like he’s even breaking a sweat during that sequence, which also sees him overpower Thor, and kill both Heimdall and Loki. That’s basically three gods and a monster taken down at once.
With the Gauntlet, he’s on another threat level entirely, pulling a moon out of orbit to throw at Iron Man, messing with reality, and defeating almost everyone who crossed his path. Superman’s good, but he’s not on the level of a villain who can click half of existence away, and the protections of the Infinity Gauntlet equalize even Superman’s most formidable powers. The ability to change matter is a very difficult thing to argue against, and Thanos’ feats against even more powerful cosmic beings in the comics are even grander.

Hela
Obviously without Asgard to draw her power from, Hela isn’t much of a threat, but with Thor’s home still in play, Cate Blanchett’s Goddess of Death is on a terrifying level that few could compete with. She effortlessly crushed Mjolnir – one of the MCU’s most formidable weapons – slaughtered the entire Valkyrie army, and made Thor look like an amateur boxer. Even Odin feared her potential, recognizing that she needed to be stopped for the good of the Nine Realms.
She’s also magic, which makes her too much for Superman. In the MCU, Hela’s powers are almost unmatched, she can conjure projectiles, regenerate instantly, and is essentially immortal (as long as Asgard exists), on top of her enhanced Asgardian physiology that already puts her close to Superman’s base level as a start. The Man of Steel simply couldn’t slow her down, without knowledge of and willingness to sever her ties to Asgard in a very uncharacteristic move that would have cost more lives than he’d ever willingly take.

Surtur
Why settle for one hugely powerful Thor: Ragnarok villain, when you can bring in two? When Clancy Brown’s fire demon Surtur reached full power in Thor: Ragnarok, he was more of a terrible force of nature than a character in conventional terms. Becoming the size of a mountain thanks to Loki resurrecting him using the Eternal Flame, he rained hellfire down on Asgard and destroyed it using his huge Twilight Sword. Hela, destroyed alongside her home planet, was as powerless as a fly against his grim inevitability.
No amount of yellow-sun enhanced physical powers could defy the fact that Surtur operates on a planetary scale of destruction. Brute force is pointless, and Hela’s fate proves just how limited the idea of any powerful being stopping Surtur at maximum power level. Thor had obviously taken him down in Ragnarok’s opening, but that was a severely weakened version without access to the Eternal Flame. With it back in play, all bets are off.

Arishem The Judge
The true level of Celestial powers is somewhat underplayed by Ego’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, because he’s defeated so easily by Star-Lord, but the gigantic cosmic beings are ridiculously powerful. Introduced fully in Eternals, Arishem the Judge is the Prime Celestial who literally created the first stars, and who is established as being immune to the direct power of the Infinity Stones.
Arishem is so massive that he towers over planets, and Superman exists on a normal planetary scale. In other words, the strongest punch from Superman would be like taking a haymaker from an end. Arishem commands cosmic manipulation at the highest level, meaning he could simply extinguish Earth’s yellow sun and dampen the Man of Steel’s power entirely. His powers include control over space-time, cosmic energy manipulation, and matter transmutation, making heat vision look like a parlour trick.

Mephistopheles
Like the MCU’s Mephisto, the version who appears in Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider movies (played first by Peter Fonda and then by Ciarán Hinds) is a literal demon from the Bible. He has vast, almost untold powers, and is a grand manipulator with a fetish for Faustian bargains and wields almost incalculable dark magic powers. The Ghost Rider movies actually lean away from revealing his true power levels, but the fact that he’s the one to grant Ghost Rider his powers is a fair indication.
As discussed almost endlessly, Superman has low resistance to magic, and Mephisto is a literal embodiment of magic. He also controls hellfire – a dark enchanted flame capable of ignoring all physical barriers to destroy souls. Even at full power, Superman has no built-in defense against an extra-dimensional demon king stripping away his soul or altering reality around him. His powers include almost every power imaginable from telekinesis and telepathy to technopathy and the ability to resurrect himself or others after death
The November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 will leave PC gamers sitting out in the cold, but the wait for the yet-to-be-announced PC port might be surprisingly short this time. According to a new report, GTA 6 will launch on PC “within the first three months” of 2027.
Speaking to GamesBeat, industry sources claim that Rockstar Games plans to launch the game just a few months after its console release. If the reports are accurate, this would mark a major departure for Rockstar Games, as previous PC ports arrived long after their original console releases. GTA 5, for example, landed on PC 18 months after its PS3 and Xbox 360 release, while the PC version of Red Dead Redemption appeared 11 months after its PS4 and Xbox One release.
Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick previously commented that PC was becoming an important platform for the GTA 6 parent company to focus on, saying sales of the publisher’s PC games had increased dramatically over the years.
As for why GTA 6 won’t be available on PC at launch, former Rockstar producer John Ricchio theorized that a console-first approach to development would give Rockstar more room to build a PC version later. Since consoles have limited hardware, it’s easier for a studio to expand a game to run on more powerful hardware like a PC instead of scaling back to fit console constraints.
Rockstar hasn’t officially said anything about GTA 6 on PC yet, and the game officially lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as its platforms. Xbox also recently clarified that GTA 6 will not be streamed to PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming, despite initial reports that Microsoft had secured exclusive streaming rights.
Elizabeth: The Golden Age is an instructive case study in what period costume design actually costs and why. Working on a total production budget of approximately $55 million, director Shekhar Kapur and costume designer Alexandra Byrne faced the challenge of dressing an entire Elizabethan court authentically enough to serve a story about a queen whose public image was inseparable from what she wore.
Byrne, who had previously designed the costumes for Kapur’s Elizabeth (1998), won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the sequel.

Money Behind the Fabric
One of the first calls any costume designer makes on a period production is whether to rent from existing stock or build from scratch.
For Elizabeth: The Golden Age, renting was not viable. The film was shot at Shepperton Studios and on location across the U.K. The outdoor conditions would expose rented garments to mud, rain, and physical wear. Damage to rented period pieces carries steep replacement costs, and the logistics of cleaning and returning them mid-production add overhead that can quickly outpace the rental savings.
Building new also gives the designer full creative control. According to Byrne, the fabric alone for a single Elizabeth gown cost approximately $3,000, before cutting, labor, embroidery, or accessories were factored in.

Elizabethan court dress requires specific materials like silk, velvet, heavy damask, and metallic thread. These were expensive in the 16th century and remain expensive to reproduce.
Several of Blanchett’s gowns feature embroidery in golden thread alongside Swarovski crystals, built on rustling taffetas and damasks inspired by couture construction. That kind of embroidery cannot be mechanized. It requires skilled handwork over days or weeks, which can push a gown’s total cost from a $3,000 fabric base into five figures.
During the Elizabethan period, royal purples and certain reds were obtained from expensive dyes. Byrne chose to dress Cate Blanchett as the queen in rich, bright colors that visually set her apart from the other characters in the film.

Byrne designed the queen’s costumes to closely match the period’s typical shapes and silhouettes—dramatic ruffs and collars widely associated with Queen Elizabeth and the Elizabethan era. She also incorporated the famous butterfly-shaped collar seen in the queen’s original portraits.
In the film, Elizabeth wears white to reinforce her identity as the Virgin Queen (married only to her country) and to signal wealth, since white was one of the most difficult colors to maintain in the period.
Throughout the movie, several variations of gowns were crafted for different lighting conditions and scenes. This led to a slight mismatch with historical reality, as the film depicts Elizabeth wearing bright colors such as red, blue, yellow, and even green. However, records suggest that black and white were the queen’s personal favorites.

Several of the principal gowns weigh more than 30 pounds. This was a deliberate choice, not a side effect of the materials.
The weight restricts how an actor moves, shortening stride length, forcing a more deliberate posture, and limiting spontaneous physical gestures. For a film about a monarch performing power in public, that physical constraint serves the performance.
Summing It Up
The collaboration between Kapur and Byrne on this film demonstrates something period filmmakers need to budget for honestly.
Historically grounded costume design at scale is one of the more expensive line items a production will carry, and its value is not decorative. Credibility in a period drama depends on it. Cutting corners on fabric, construction, or lead time tends to show on screen in ways that undercut everything else the production invests in.
After hiring Character.AI‘s former CEO as its chief technology officer, Disney is looking to acquire assets from the 5-year-old startup as it files for Chapter 11bankruptcy protection.
The company, which allows users to create and interact with AI-generated avatars, said it made the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. It said it hopes the process will allow it to “facilitate a value-maximizing sale of all or substantially all” of its assets. The Character.AI platform will continue to operate during the bankruptcy.
The Disney agreement, reached prior to the filing, would give the media giant a non-exclusive perpetual license of select intellectual property and company claims from Character.AI. Disney would pay $20 million and provide resources during a transition period as the company explores a sale. Disney is classified under bankruptcy law as the “stalking-horse bidder” for the IP, but its bid is subject to “higher or better offers,” CharacterAI noted in a statement.
Disney appointed former Character.AI chief Karandeep Anand as its first CTO last month. He reports directly to CEO Josh D’Amaro, who succeeded Bob Iger in the top job earlier this year with a stated goal of improving the company’s technology and AI efforts. D’Amaro became familiar with interactive technology prior to becoming CEO during his tenure as the head of Disney’s experiences division, which includes its theme parks.
While its lawyers have not hesitated to send cease-and-desist letters to AI companies, Disney is among the big media companies looking for ways to get in the AI game and profit from its boom. During the latter part of Iger’s tenure, Disney made a splashy deal with OpenAI soon after the company launched its controversial Sora 2 video model. Under the deal, Disney was to have licensed a number of its characters for use on Sora and also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, which is looking to go public soon at a valuation possibly exceeding $1 trillion. The transaction was scuttled two months later after OpenAI shut down Sora, which had drawn a host of legal complaints alleging copyright violation.
Character.AI said it is aiming to conclude the sale process by late November or early December.

The theory is that as ocean temperatures continue to rise, these types of fish with a preference for the tropics will be found further north, Isabella Morgante, a PhD candidate at the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries at the University of British Columbia, told Global News.
“Finding a swordfish that far up north in Haida Gwaii is quite a rare find. It could still be just a one-off, one of those fish lost their path. But I think regardless, it’s a good warning and an indicator of warming oceans in B.C.,” she said.

Morris didn’t waste words in her reply. Instead she posted a video of herself on Instagram with the text “me being a wh0re at the gym.” The video was accompanied by her song, “Be a Bitch,” which features the chorus: “Breaking my neck from turning my cheek/ Killing with kindness only killed me/ If the truth means I’m a little too mean/ Tried to fake nice, but it didn’t quite stick/ I’d rather be a bitch.”
The singer captioned the video, which culminated with her giving the camera the middle finger, “leave my gym short wedgie out of it.”
Several celebrities have responded to Gillis’ monologue, which caused an uproar on social media, with many describing him as a misogynist. Former SNL star Ego Nwodim posted a gym selfie to her Instagram Stories on Monday with the caption, “whore reporting for duty.” Meanwhile, Dan Levy shared an Instagram video saying he was “speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.”

“Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores, misogynists. There’s a difference there,” Levy said. “By the way, I’ve seen more men’s nipples in the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off.”

As swiftly as Barry Manilow returned to the stage following a health-related hiatus, he has stepped away.
On Friday, Manilow cut his concert short just two songs after it began. The 83-year-old crooner abruptly told the crowd to talk among themselves as he walked off stage, according to concertgoers who detailed the incident on social media. The curtain dropped, and a few moments later the audience was told the show was a wrap. Manilow’s performance slated for Saturday was subsequently nixed.
The day before, on Thursday, the “Copacabana” singer had returned after a six-week break to perform at the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, telling the audience, “I’m back!” Manilow appeared to be spry and energetic throughout the show. “God, I feel like I’m a teenage idol again,” he joked when a couple of audience members tossed underwear onto the stage. He picked up a pair of full-coverage briefs and asked if they needed to go to the laundry, then a pink lacy thong and joked, “I’ll keep this pair.”
“After a triumphant welcome-back concert on Thursday, Barry got hit with bronchitis and had to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows,” reps for Manilow told Paste Magazine.
Last year, Manilow revealed that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer and that surgery would require him to postpone several performances. In May, he told The Times that, since he had surgery, he was getting winded just walking down the hallway. “Ninety minutes of screaming in tune, which is what I do for a living — I’m not up for that yet,” he said at the time. “I will be, but it’s taking a long time to get my voice back. They warned me that I’d have to learn to breathe again. So these days, I get up, I go to my piano and I try to be creative. Before I know it, the afternoon’s over.”
The star returned to the stage in June following a six-month hiatus, in support of his latest album, “What a Time,” his first LP loaded with new material in almost 15 years.
But in August, Manilow canceled shows because of vocal and technical problems before telling fans he needed to pause. “We just finished a fantastic summer tour, 29 shows in 68 days,” the singer said. “The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard.
“Now we all need to sit down and shut up,” Manilow said.

This change will permanently end the Marvel Unlimited era…except for the pricing.

Marvel Comics (the app) will cost $69.99 a year, a familiar price to subscribers.
And the monthly fee remains $9.99 as well, so Disney has kept the Marvel Unlimited pricing…for now.

The third Flash villain has been spotted in James Gunn’s new DC Universe. In 2023, the world was given its first-ever live-action Flash movie with Andy Muschietti’s The Flash, but the Ezra Miller-led film should’ve been left behind, despite Gunn’s preapproval before release. That movie was still part of the old DCEU continuity, which has since been reinvented (and reincorporated) as the new DCU led by Superman (David Corenswet). Moving away from that 2023 version of the Flash doesn’t mean his rogues gallery has been ignored, though, as a DCU series coming next year is unlocking several of the Scarlet Speedster’s villains.
From Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the duo behind Netflix’s American Vandal, the eight-episode comedy plays out as a mockumentary starring the Daily Planet’s Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo).
Olsen reopens the case of Gorilla Grodd (Jimmy Tatro), a superintelligent ape convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. Perry White (Wendell Pierce), Cat Grant (Mikaela Hoover), and Steve Lombard (Beck Bennett) are also back from Superman, while Sara Gilbert (Roseanne) recently joined the cast.
As for Man of Tomorrow, Gunn confirmed on Threads that the show won’t come out until after the sequel hits theaters on July 9, 2027. He added that the story “jumps all over the place” since it’s a true crime series, but “overall in continuity it’s after MoT.”
And while it’s technically a Superman spinoff, the series is actually setting up the DCU Flash in a big way, mainly through the villains seen on set.
3 Flash Villains Join James Gunn’s DCU
Gorilla Grodd

The DCU version of Gorilla Grodd is apparently busy finishing college, at some point in the story. Tatro’s casting in July made him the DCU’s first official Flash character, and the telepathic gorilla has terrorized the speedster since first appearing in the comics back in 1959.
Gunn even hyped him up earlier this year, joking that when Grodd made his comic debut, “he immediately chose violence (and mind control, obviously).”
To the delight of many, the set photos of The People v. Gorilla Grodd revealed that the incoming villain will be brought to life via a practical suit, not CGI.
The first look at Grodd on set at Georgia Tech, which doubles as Metropolis University, shows the character in preppy campus attire, complete with a white button-up, sweater vest, and gray slacks. Just another day in Gunn’s DCU.
During the filming of a different scene, it’s clearly graduation day, as Grodd is now rocking a gray cap and gown.
Alternate angles also show how there could be some action during the graduation scene, with someone in the action department hanging from wires.
Other shots catch the superintelligent ape lounging in a hammock, and cruising around campus on a scooter in a “This Grodd Needs a Brew” T-shirt.
Grodd isn’t totally new to the DCU, either. He appeared in Creature Commandos as the right-hand ape of Princess Ilana Rostovic (Maria Bakalova) in a grim vision that also featured Wally West’s Flash among the fallen heroes.
His future in the DCU is currently tied to these Superman characters under the guise of Gunn, but there’s clearly an avenue that sets up Grodd as a villain for a future Flash.
When it comes to the future of a version of the Flash appearing soon in the DCU, Gunn shot down fan speculation that Matthew Lillard is playing Barry Allen in Man of Tomorrow, answering a Threads user with a flat “No.”There are no current official plans for Barry, Wally West, or any other Flash to appear on the big screen any time soon.
Golden Glider

A little-known DC villain, the Golden Glider, was reportedly spotted on set last month. Introduced in 1977’s The Flash #250 by Cary Bates and Irv Novick, Lisa Snart is the younger sister of Captain Cold.
One photo making the rounds, billed as the first look at Golden Glider’s suit, shows a blonde-haired performer in a long, dark coat.
Later comics even made her a metahuman who can take on an ethereal form, letting her fly and move as fast as the Flash himself. It’s hard to believe this cast of characters in the DCU’s next big live-action series won’t eventually connect to Star City and a reborn Flash.
Murmur

Rounding out the trio is Murmur, the most disturbing Flash villain of the bunch. In the comics, Dr. Michael Amar was a surgeon who became a serial killer after voices told him to cut out his victims’ tongues. Run, Jimmy!
The People v. Grodd photos show a first look at Murmur’s DCU debut, dressed head to toe in black, sporting curly hair and shaved sides.
His origin story in the comics is brutal; his execution failed, he cut out his own tongue and sewed his mouth shut, becoming Murmur. Given how Gunn captures a delightful mix of tones in his comic book projects, we’ll see how dark the DCU Murmur’s story becomes.
BONUS: Captain Boomerang

Then there’s Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), whose DCU status is a bit of a head-scratcher. Boomerang actually had a run-in with the DCEU Flash in 2016’s Suicide Squad. He even got a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it CGI cameo in The Flash, though both movies belong to the old DC cinematic canon.
Where things get interesting is that Courtney returned for Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, only to be killed by a crashing helicopter’s blades during the opening beach assault.
Gunn has said that The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker Season 1 (his past DC projects before becoming an executive) could be considered “vague memories“ of what happened in the DCU.
He’s even floated doing “a special couple podcasts“ after Man of Tomorrow to sort out canon. Either way, Boomerang is currently off the board in the DCU, because if The Suicide Squad is canon, he’s dead.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered brought a lot of upgrades to the 2015 RPG, but the one most noticeable was character progression.
In an interview with the Epic Games Store, Joanna Wieliczko-Masios, Senior Publishing Producer at CD Projekt Red, explained how the remaster’s revised progression system changes the experience for returning players.
“The progression system change is probably one of the most noticeable ones for veterans who know their builds, know the balance of the game and Geralt’s skills,” Wieliczko-Masios said. “With the system reimagined and presented differently, with so many tweaks and changes to what’s available now, building a character, I think, feels fully fresh.”
The Witcher 3 Remastered Changes More Than Graphics
One of the biggest changes in The Witcher 3 Remastered is how players develop Geralt throughout their adventure. CD Projekt Red has reworked the progression system, making character building feel different even for players who have spent years experimenting with the game’s abilities and builds.
For veteran players, the difference will be far more than just adjusting to a new interface. The system has been reimagined, with tweaks to what’s available and how progression is presented. That means players familiar with the original game’s balance and Geralt’s skills will have a different experience when deciding how to develop their character.
These changes are pretty much in sync with their design ideology for the remaster, which, according to Wieliczko-Masios, is “The goal for Remastered was to bring this beloved RPG up to more modern standards, while obviously retaining the soul of the original.”
So, older players will still feel familiar with the new character progression, but there are still changes and tweaks that will make it feel fresh. On top of that, combat and movement are also reworked to make the experience better.
This allows returning players to experiment with the new system rather than relying on builds they used in their previous playthroughs.
The Remaster Also Adds New Accessibility Options
Another feature discussed in the interview that is worth mentioning is Bard’s Ballad. It’s an accessibility preset designed to make the game easier by streamlining certain systems of the game.
Wieliczko-Masios explains it better,
I think Bard’s Ballad — the suite of accessibility options new to Remastered — is worth shouting out here. I don’t think such a preset would have been anywhere near as common in 2015, but now you do see much more customizability to help players of all kinds. You can go into the settings and tweak many variables with Bard’s Ballad. You can turn off item weight and item durability, for instance, or enable infinite breath while underwater, and much more. Overall, Bard’s Ballad is designed to help reduce cognitive load — for players who experience mental fatigue or have difficulty concentrating, for example. It streamlines gameplay by simplifying certain mechanics and disabling select features for a smoother, more focused adventure. It feels very in-line with player expectations in 2026.”
Together with the changes to progression, combat, and movement, these options show how CD Projekt Red has approached the remaster as an opportunity to revisit the original game’s mechanics rather than focus exclusively on its presentation.
In short, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Remastered has new experiences for both new and veteran players. Whether it’s the revamped combat and progression or the ability to tailor your experience through Bard’s Ballad, the remaster definitely looks like something to jump into.
