“We Live In Time”: Andrew Garfield & Florence Pugh Star in Heartwrenching Romance

We Live in Time” is what you get when you cast two of Hollywoods most talented, in demand and attrcative actors in the same movie. The moment it was announced that Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh were starring in a film together, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of “We Live in Time”, on Tuesday A24 released the first look at the film with a gorgeous poster featuring Academy Award nominees Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick, Boom) and Florence Pugh (Oppenheimer), which teased the trailer that premiered the next day.

On Wednesday the 10th of July, the first trailer for “We Live in Time” was  unveiled. The story follows Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield) who are brought together in a surprise encounter (She runs over him with her car), that changes their lives. Through snapshots of their life together — falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family — a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken.

Throughout the trailer we are shown the deeply moving romance of Almut and Tobias, from the classic meet cute, to starting a family, to a blissfull life together, to a heartwrenching and life altering prognosis that the two must face together. I didnt think I’d cry so much at a trailer but, things change. The film hasn’t even premeired yet but I already love it.

“We Live in Time” was directed by two-time BAFTA-winning director John Crowley, who worked with Garfield on “Boy A” and who last directed “The Goldfinch,” the adaptation of the beloved Donna Tartt bestseller. Written by Nick Payne (The Last Letter from Your Lover), “We Live in Time” was developed by StudioCanal, which produced the film alongside SunnyMarch’s Leah Clarke and Adam Ackland, as well as Guy Heeley. Benedict Cumberbatch served as executive producer.

You can tell from these first few moments alone that the choice to cast Garfield and Pugh together in such an intense romantic drama was a brilliant idea. The two are no strangers to dramatic acting, that is for sure, but what really makes a good romance is the chemistry between the leads, and these two actors are oozing chemistry in every scene. This film will no doubt be an awards season pick, possibly taking Garfield and Pugh from Presenting at the 2023 Oscars to being nominated at the 2025 Oscars. From the looks of the trailer we are bound to see some strong performances from them.

The movie also stars Adam James, Marama Corlett, Aoife Hinds, Heather Craney and Kara Lynch. It was written by Nick Payne, who worked on “The Crown,” and was produced by Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland and Guy Heeley. The music was composed by Bryce Dessner, the National member and frequent Taylor Swift collaborator.

The movie will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival This fall, before arriving in theaters on October 11.
