Both actors have much to celebrate at this year’s festival and both their films will premiere on October 11th 2024.

For those who may not recall, the connection between these two actors began in 2020, when Dylan O’Brien and his friend Sarah Ramos shared a skit in which the two parody Andrew Garfield’s iconic meltdown scene from “The Social Network”. The video quickly went viral, even catching the attention of Garfield himself, his response was shared via a tweet from Lin-Manuel Miranda who was directing “Tick, Tick…Boom!” at the time which read “If I had Twitter I’d let him know he murdered it.” This unexpected endorsement only fueled fan excitement about a potential collaboration between the two actors.

I think he’s so talented, and I thought that was very, very cool” said Garfield hinting at a mutual respect between the two. Garfield also said he thought O’Brien’s performance was “Just as good, if not better. And handsomer.” Fans eagerly hoped that their on-screen paths might cross in the future. Ever since, netizens have referred to the two as “besties”.

Fast forward to TIFF 2024, and the stars aligned, maybe not onscreen but the festival provided the perfect backdrop for O’Brien and Garfield to finally meet in person. Photographs of the two actors together with the “Saturday Night” movie cast at the Golden Globes TIFF Gala Reception have been a delightful treat for fans, capturing a moment that many have been eagerly anticipating.
