“Supernatural” & “Smallville” cast members reunite at convention

Somebody save my wayward son. Supernatural and Smallville fans were given a treat during the Supernatural Creation Con in Las Vegas, one that we didn’t even know we needed. A Supernatural and Smallville reunion. During their Creation Tour – Supernatural & Other J&J projects, there were some special guests onstage with Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. Jensen’s Smallville Co star’s and their fellow CW friends Tom Welling who stars as Clark Kent and Michael Rosenbaum who stars as Lex Luthor.

It was previously announced that these two would be joining the tour, but it wasn’t until after Jason Manns posted a post a selfie of the group on Instagram and Michael Rosenbaum shared it on Twitter that the internet really went crazy.

These two shows have long been connected over the years. Having both been a part of The CW and having aired at the same time, these two casts were somewhat of a family and have still remained close.

Now the connection has only grown. It all started when Jensen Ackles got his big break playing Jason Teague on Smallville in 2004.

The very next year he was playing Dean Winchester in “Supernatural”, however he still kept in touch with Tom Welling.

The two remained close friends, when Jensen Ackles was set to produce the Supernatural prequel “The Winchesters” which aired last year, he had the perfect role for Tom, the Winchester brothers’ grandfather and Mary Cambell’s father Samuel Campbell.

In an interview with Looper, Welling mentions that it was his friendship with Jensen that made him accept the role.

“Jensen went on to do “Supernatural” for 15 years. We knew each other. We had a bond on the show, and then we kept in contact, and we got to swap stories because we were in similar situations for so many years,” he said.

“He called me a few months ago, and he goes, “Hey, man, I’m doing this TV show. Hear me out because I think you’d be right for this role…I do believe that because of my relationship with him, I had a more open mind to the idea of playing Samuel on “The Winchesters.”
