Reliance, Mid-Day Collaborate On Content Inspired By Real-Life Stories – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Mumbai-based Reliance Entertainment is joining forces with Indian media group Mid-Day Infomedia in a strategic collaboration to bring real-life stories to the screen.

The two partners will work together to create stories across multiple formats and platforms, including films, web series, documentaries, and other forms of content. The stories will be inspired by real-life events that are reported in Mid-Day, a subsidiary of media conglomerate Jagran Group.

Mid-Day Infomedia publishes three leading newspaper brands in India – Mid-Day English, a niche English-language daily; Inquilab, the highest-read Urdu daily in India; and Mid-Day Gujarati, the second biggest Gujarati newspaper in Mumbai. All three brands are hugely popular in Mumbai, one of the two largest advertising markets in India. Inquilab is circulated in Maharashtra and the states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bihar.

The publisher is a wholly owned subsidiary of Jagran Prakashan, which has activities spanning print, radio, outdoor and digital, with brands including Dainik Jagran, Radio City, Mid-Day, Dainik Jagran-inext and Nai Dunia.

Reliance Entertainment invests in and produces film and TV content and has relationships for digital distribution with Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ Hotstar, and other platforms. The company’s recent film productions include Section 84, starring Amitabh Bachchan, and Bholaa, directed by and starring Ajay Devgn. It also recently produced web series Jubilee, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, for Amazon Prime Video.

The two companies said they aim to enhance the quality and diversity of content available to audiences across various platforms. “Through this collaboration, the two industry leaders will combine their expertise and resources to bring to life an array of compelling narratives drawn from the rich tapestry of human experiences,” the partners said in a statement.

Commenting further on the partnership, Chhitra Subramaniam, Senior Vice President, Creative & Production, Reliance Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with Jagran Group, a venerable institution in Indian media. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to delivering impactful and engaging content to audiences. By blending Reliance Entertainment’s creative and producing prowess with Jagran Group’s deep-rooted understanding of real-life stories, we aim to create content that resonates deeply with people from all walks of life.”

Shailesh Gupta, Director of Mid-Day Infomedia, added: “Our collaboration with Reliance Entertainment aligns seamlessly with our mission to connect with audiences on a profound level through meaningful narratives. The power of storytelling is immense, and together, we can harness this power to bring stories that inspire, inform, and entertain.”
