Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland Swing onto Variety500 List

It is no surprise that Andrew Garfield been named one of Variety500, the influential leaders shaping the global media industry of 2022, there was a time you couldn’t turn a corner without seeing his face or hearing his name, Andrew is currently on a hiatus from acting. Following in his footsteps this year is his fellow Spider-Man star Tom Holland who has also made the list for the 3rd time.

Garfield is known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to his acting, and taking on roles that really showcase his range. One such role would be his Oscar nominated performance of Desmond Doss in Hacksaw Ridge and the other his 2nd Oscar nominated performance as Jonathan Larson in Tick, tick boom.

His speciality seems to be telling true stories and bringing real characters to life, but whatever the role we see him in, be it a Jesuit priest directed by Scorsese or a CEO of a tech company directed by David Fincher, not only does he end up bringing critical acclaim to the role but he elevates it in a way that makes the movie that much greater.

He recently starred in the Hulu limited series “Under the Banner of Heaven” which earned him his first Emmy nomination. His next role will be Richard Branson in the limited series “Hot Air,” about the billionaire entrepreneur.

When reprised his role as Peter Parker with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire in the 2021 film “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, Andrew, aka Peter 3 was immediately an audience favorite. Of course they will always be remembered for playing Peter Parker in their respective Spider-Man movies, but with the roles they have taken on, both Andrew and Tom aim to be seen as something other than just, “That Spider-Man Actor”

We have seen Tom in a variety of different movies over the years, and outside of Spider-Man his acting and his range has only grown. Some of his most notable films include The Devil All The Time, Cherry and The Lost City of Z.

After his last Spider-Man film, No Way Home grossed $1.9 billion worldwide, and after tireless promotions worldwide, which saw Tom joined by previous Peter Parkers, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Holland had to dive straight into promotion for his video game adaptation film, “Uncharted” starring alongside Mark Wahlberg.
