Oscar winning actress Emma Stone, who is a huge fan of Saturday Night Live herself has officially joined the exclusive SNL Five Timers Club!
Stone who is known for her range onscreen, particularly her comedic talent in films such as “Easy A”, “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, “La, La, Land and more is a known favourite amongst SNL fans, always making sure to deliver memorable sketches and epic laughs, when she hosts.
Stone made her hosting debut on October 23, 2010, the fourth episode of Season 36 with musical guests Kings of Leon. She also hosted in November 12, 2011, December 3, 2016, April 13, 2019 and finally her latest hosting gig was on Saturday December 2, 2023. Which officially made Emma the 24th member to join the SNL Five Timers Club, joining the ranks of fellow SNL hosts such as Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, Tina Fey, Scarlett Johansson and many more.
Season 49 of SNL has seen a star studded line up of hosts, including Timothée Chalamet, Pete Davidson, Jason Momoa with Adam Driver and Kate McKinnon returning to SNL to host in December as well.
In her monologue Emma mentions “It has always been my favorite show [SNL] and since I started hosting its also become just a huge part of my life, and I’ve made so many memories here, so many friends.”
She was also joined by Tina Fey and Candice Bergen, who welcome her into the women’s section of the Five Timers Club. “You’re part of SNL HERstory” says Bergen. The three also do not hesitate to make hilarious jabs at John Mulaney and Woodey Harrelson. Fellow Five Timers.
A highlight of her episode was her sketch titled “Make Your Own Kind of Music”. In which we see Stone play a music producer who convinces singer Mama Cass played by Chloe Troast that her song will be used in epic moments in films in the future. A classic jab at how much Hollywood has used this song in different montages and climactic scenes. Stone really outdid herself when it came to her comedic performance in this episode.
Stone will next be seen in Yorgos Lanthimos’ film “Poor Things” alongside Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe. She is already being eyed as a contender for the Oscars best actress category.
