It’s not always easy to find out which movies are hitting theaters each week, especially as the Hollywood strikes led to many release date changes. With the WGA strike resolved and awards season heating up, there are more dramas and prestige productions in theaters for the next few months. October’s scary releases have transitioned into November’s spooky horror “Thanksgiving,” while November and December are packed with family-friendly films and crowdpleasers for the holidays.
“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” hits theaters this week, serving as a prequel to the franchise’s other installments, starring Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth and Hunter Schafer. For a family-friendly option, Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake return in “Trolls Band Together,” joined by franchise newcomers Camila Cabello and Troye Sivan. Also catch limited releases of “Saltburn,” starring Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi and Rosamund Pike, and “May December,” featuring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton, ahead of its Netflix premiere. Next week, Joaquin Phoenix will take the big screen as the titular role in “Napoleon.”
