The Anchor – A Journey Through Epilepsy

The Anchor – A Journey Through Epilepsy

The following article will provide a personal review of a YouTube short film titled;  The Anchor – A Journey Through Epilepsy.

While the film does not intend to offer its viewers any kind of road-map towards choosing one’s “anchor” it goes the distance in demonstrating that anyone who suffers from Epilepsy can add an anchor to their toolbox of techniques aimed at coping and managing their condition.  This film provides for its viewers, a visceral, emotional perspective of what it means for any patient on the verge of an epileptic event, in particular;

  • It is very good at demonstrating the disorientation that is prevalent when a seizure is imminent.
  • It is also very effective at showing the viewer that not only could anything in a patient’s environment trigger an event, but it also communicates that the patient isn’t always aware of all their possible triggers.
  • It also demonstrates (superficially at least) what a support team (in this case, family) can do to manage an event.

The message of light at the end of this film focuses on a patient’s own ability to chose and utilize an anchor to navigate epilepsy, and grasp a level of control they wouldn’t otherwise have.

The message is one of hope and self reliance.

I hope you enjoy it’s message as much as I did.
