Steve Martin and Martin Short Bring The Laughs On SNL

Steve Martin and Martin Short Bring The Laughs On SNL
SNL did not fail to deliver this month, giving us 2 amazing hosts, in one episode alone. With Steve Martin who has now hosted 16 times and Martin Short who has hosted 4 times, the two took the SNL stage once again for a night full of laughter.
Their episode was full of spoofs, shade and cameos. Starting off with their hilarious monologue where the two even threw shade at Harry and Meghan. “Steve, we are like Harry and Meghan. No one’s rooting for us but you’ll tune in to watch anyway,” said Martin Short. Steve Martin even had a jab about their friendship lined up “Working with Marty Short is like World Cup soccer. Somehow, I just can’t get into it.” Steve and Marty taking jabs at each other throughout their monolouge was such an entertaining start to a great episode. The two even jokingly eulogized each other, as Martin started started his eulogy for Short, “Now that Marty’s gone, who will I ever work with?”, and to some surprise, their Only Murders In The Building Co Star, Selena Gomez made a surprize appearance with the question, “What about me?” and then ending their eulogies and the monologue.

Another highlight of their episode was a sketch spoofing their film “Father of the Bride,” with a special cameo from Kieran Culkin (Succession), who was in the original films with them. Selena Gomez also appeared in the sketch. The Sketch sees the comedic duo reprise their iconic characters, George Banks (Martin) and wedding planner Franck Eggelhoffer (Short), respectively, in a bit that spoofed the film and its sequels.

Steve Martin and Martin Short also gave their own version of The Christmas Carol, a truly gruesome one that would have poor Charles Dicken’s crying or laughing in his grave. Martin Short shines as Ebeneezer Scrooge in this one, with Steve Martin as the Ghost of Christmas Present helping him wreack mayhem on Christmas morning. As for what actually happens, it’s best that stay a surprise.

Martin and Short have always been a hilarious comedic duo, but who would’ve guessed that with the addition of Selena Gomez at the start of Only Murders in the Building they would become such a terrific trio. This had to have been one of the funniest episodes of SNL this season. If you missed it, don’t worry, catch all their sketches here.
