After The Mandalorian & Grogu (which will come to Disney+ in the near future), Lucasfilm and Disney are set to dive back into the galaxy far, far away in next year’s Star Wars: Starfighter. This movie will give Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy his first chance to take on the Star Wars saga, as he directs it from a script by Jonathan Tropper (Your Friends & Neighbors). They will be joined by a massive cast of A-listers known for work in some of the biggest franchises in entertainment, led by future MCU Ghost Rider star Ryan Gosling and young newcomer Flynn Gray.
Star Wars: Starfighter completed its principal photography between Aug. and Dec. 2025, giving the movie almost a year and a half to complete its post-production schedule before its theatrical release. Thus far, the studios have only released a couple of small teases for this movie, showing pictures of Gosling and Flynn in costume on set. However, considering Starfighter is now less than a year away, many hope to see more of what this story will hold in the near future. Now, it appears that Disney is finally ready to give those viewers what they want.
Disney and Lucasfilm shared the first look at Star Wars: Starfighter at the 2026 D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The trailer reveals Gosling as Kade Auberon, a pilot who goes on a space-bound adventure alongside a young character played by Gray. They first discuss what he calls the “fastest starfighter ever built,” before the footage puts the focus on the action, as the lead duo travel across the galaxy through different planets and environments. The teaser also included swamps, bounty hunters, droids, and just about everything else you’d expect from Star Wars. And it’s safe to say that Gosling’s Kade has the need for speed, as the teaser ends with him showing off in his ship.
More to come…
