Eight years after Stan Lee passed away, the legendary Marvel Comics publisher has returned thanks to ElevenLabs.
The AI audio company has reached a deal with Stan Lee Universe, a joint venture between Genius Brands International and POW! Entertainment, to add Lee’s voice and likeness to the ElevenLabs Iconic Marketplace, a collection of celebrity voices and likenesses that companies can license for commercial use.

Additionally, users will be able to generate Lee’s likeness in templates inspired by comic book panels or narrate any book through the Eleven Reader app.
How the Voice Was Trained
According to ElevenLabs, the voice was trained on professional recordings of Lee.

“Stan always believed in meeting his fans where they were: in the pages of a comic, at a convention, or in a quick on-screen cameo,” Chaz Rainey, a lawyer and board member for Stan Lee Universe, said in a statement.

“This partnership is a way of continuing that. Fans have always told us that when they read his comics, they hear the words in Stan’s voice, and now, thanks to ElevenLabs, we can make that a reality.”
Stan Lee Book Club of the Month
In a video released by ElevenLabs, the company revealed the launch of a new series called the Stan Lee Book Club of the Month, which will narrate a different book each month.

Next month’s selection will be Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
“His voice, his image, his love of storytelling… ElevenLabs gives us a way to keep that alive and in fans’ hands in a way that’s true to who he was,” Rainey said.
