‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Crosses Amazing Box Office Milestone

Since swinging into theaters on July 31, 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been busy breaking box office records. The movie, which marks Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the title character, earned $355 million in North America and $932 million at the global box office in its opening weekend, clearing $1 billion after just six days of release. It became the fastest movie in history to make $500 million and then $700 million domestically, breaking a record previously held by Avengers: Endgame. It’s also the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in the history of the Indian box office.

And its impressive run isn’t over. Variety reports that Brand New Day has now made over $2 billion at the worldwide box office after only three weekends in theaters. The only movie to reach this point faster was Endgame, which got there after just 11 days. With $785 million from North America and $1.23 billion from overseas territories, the global total for Spider-Man: Brand New Day now sits at $2.022 billion.

For the record, this makes Brand New Day the eighth movie in history to earn over $2 billion. At the moment, it’s the eighth highest-grossing film of all time, just ahead of its predecessor, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.92 billion), and within spitting distance of 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War ($2.052 billion).

At this point, there seems little doubt that Brand New Day will keep climbing the all-time charts; the question is how high it will go. It’s all but certain to surpass Infinity War, but will it out-gross 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ($2.071 billion) or even 1997’s Titanic ($2.264 billion)? Some are even hoping that Brand New Day will be the first movie to make over $3 billion globally, which would make it the highest-grossing movie ever.

So far, Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn’t had much trouble fending off competition. The biggest new release this weekend was the well-reviewed sci-fi adventure film The End of Oak Street, about a suburban neighborhood that gets transported back to a prehistoric era where the residents are menaced by dinosaurs. The movie pulled in $47 million at the worldwide box office, which isn’t a terrible opening for a movie with a budget of $80 million. But it still only came in third for the weekend, behind The Odyssey in second place and Spider-Man: Brand New Day in first.

Brand New Day is also the most successful Marvel Cinematic Universe release in recent memory. In 2025, Marvel released Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, all of which came in below expectations. The question is: will Brand New Day revive interest in the MCU, or does it just prove the enduring popularity of Spider-Man in particular? We’ll probably have an answer when Avengers: Doomsday comes out this December.
