As part of X-Files themed week, we go into a movie that plays tribute to it and plenty of other Area 51 related nonsense with the appropriately nonsensical Roland Emmerich-Dean Devlin disaster movie joint: Independence Day!

Michael O’Rear (Stark Wars Podcast) helps me navigate thru this messy and constantly critically reevaluated film. Why is it so fascinating despite having virtually nothing competent outside of the cast and effects on display? Why is it still unintentionally amusing despite the filmmakers not wanting that to the case? Why was the sequel REALLY made despite all the returning castmembers being either unavailable or not looking like they want to be there? And more hot takes of a movie that continually changes ratings based on how high or easily annoyed its viewers tend to be!
