Entertainment Glendale Name Change
Another Taylor Swift album, another group of singles to be ranked. This is a particular case as we have the singles from Red and Red (Taylor’s Version.)
Frankly, how many singles this album has might surprise you because my jaw dropped. Upon its first release, Red had seven singles which makes sense. This was Taylor’s first true foray into pop music and in 2012, it felt like she was everywhere which proves why she chose to re-record this album second.
As impressive as Fearless was, Red was an entirely new ballgame for Taylor Swift. With that being said, there is one thing I have to mention and it’s that Red’s first release gave us seven singles. Then for Taylor’s Version, she released two more singles which put us at a staggering 9 singles to talk about.
This is going to be a lot of fun as these singles are all over the place. While I do think most Taylor eras tend to have a cohesive theme, I feel like Red is all over the map with songs about love, breakups, and having fun all featured on the songs within this album.
Regardless, I feel like that makes for an even more fun time, ranking them. There are so many avenues to go down and so many things to consider when making these lists. Plus that’s just the fun of being a Taylor Swift fan, too. It’s also great to have a Taylor’s Version so I can just listen to them all without having to get my CD player out.
9. “The Last Time”
Starting at the bottom of my list is a song I didn’t even know was a single. “The Last Time” featuring Gary Lightbody was a song I hadn’t listened to much. I feel like this isn’t controversial but I feel like Taylor Swift stands better on her own.
Mostly, I’m just curious as to why “The Last Time” was named a single. Regardless, it’s not a bad song but it doesn’t feel like a single to me. It also sounds a little different than the rest of the record in my opinion so it ended up at the bottom of my list.
