Batman is going to be the star of many of DC’s upcoming projects. Among them are a couple of live-action Batman movies, which include Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II, which brings back Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and will take place in a snowy Gotham City. The other film is The Brave and the Bold, which is part of the new DC Universe’s slate, and will introduce the franchise’s Batman and Damian Wayne. In animation, Batman: Caped Crusader season 2, the Robin-focused movie Dynamic Duo, and a 2026 release make up quite the slate, with the latter releasing soon.
DC has officially confirmed that Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall will have its world premiere at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Festival. The upcoming Batman film will be one of the many animated DC projects brought by the studio to the event. Other titles that will have new details and first looks unveiled by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation at Annecy include Mister Miracle, My Adventures with Green Lantern, Starfire!, Creature Commandos season 2, Batman: Caped Crusader season 2, and more. The festival takes place from June 21 to June 27.
June is shaping up to be a key month for those looking for new information on the Dark Knight’s upcoming adaptations. Alongside the world premiere of Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, Pattinson, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and more are reportedly set to begin filming The Batman – Part II in June, with DC taking the next step in its ongoing live-action Batman franchise ahead of the long-anticipated movie’s release on October 1, 2027. Released in 2022, The Batman went on to gross $772.2 million worldwide. The DC movie holds a high 85% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.
As for what fans can expect from Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, the movie is based on the iconic “Knightfall” arc from DC Comics, which put Batman through the wringer and included characters like Bane, Azrael, and more in major roles. So far, one of those is confirmed to appear in the multi-part franchise’s first film.. The official synopsis for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall reveals that Bane will free “Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum,” pushing the Dark Knight to his limits, just like he did in the comics. It seems like the iconic back-breaking moment will happen.

The movie is directed by Jeff Wamester, who has several animated DC movies under his belt, and is written by DC Comics’ Jeremy Adams.
At the World’s Finest Animation: DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation Showcase, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran and President of Warner Bros. Animation Sam Register will host a panel with executive producers of upcoming animated shows, including Tom King (Mister Miracle), Rick Morales (Creature Commandos), Jake Wyatt (My Adventures with Superman, My Adventures with Green Lantern), Josie Campbell (Starfire!), and Matt Beans (DC Super Powers). That stacked DC TV slate and the world premiere of the next Batman movie ensure that the 2026 Annecy International Animation Festival will be a big one for the studio.
