For those who can’t wait for MobLand Season 2 to drop (even if it’s only four weeks away), Starz has a hidden gem that’s well worth checking out. It’s a gritty, tense, and heavy crime drama that explores another side of the criminal underworld, one where the strong prove their worth on the street and in the boxing ring. The creator also thinks Yellowstone fans will dig his new series, but there’s only one way to find out. It’s hard to argue against that when the show is dominating the streaming chart.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s boxing crime drama could easily pass as a MobLand and The Gentlemen crossover spinoff. Fightland debuted on Starz on July 31 to a knockout reception, glowing reviews, and a 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series is a revenge story from the get-go, and the first episode did not waste any time establishing the plot — its main protagonist achieves the height of his career and loses it all in one night.
‘Fightland’ Tops Streaming Chart Dominated by the ‘Power’ Universe
Fightland has surged to the top of Starz’s Top 10 TV shows after 16 days on the chart, which is also dominated by shows from 50 Cent’s Power universe — Power, Power Book II: Ghost, Book III: Raising Kanan, and Book IV: Force. Fightland isn’t connected to any of the Power shows, at least not yet, but Fightland actor Charles Babalola has said that “there’s no doubt that Fightland is coming into that universe.” That’s a bit of a stretch since Fightland is set in the UK and the Power series are set in the US, but we’ve seen wilder TV crossovers before (remember “X-Cops?”).

Fightland follows Maduka “Duke” Kilroy (Howard Charles), a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxer who’s hell-bent on taking down the person who caused his misfortune. It won’t be easy because he’s after a London crime boss who mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a fractured family business. Duke infiltrates the crime empire to dismantle it, and hopefully to flush his target out.
50 Cent says Fightland transcends the standard action film or crime drama because of the “intensity of the material.” Speaking with People, he also explained why the show is a must-watch for Yellowstone fans — someone dies in every episode, and that’s something MobLand can’t brag about.
50 Cent Is Building His Own ‘Yellowstone’ Universe
50 Cent appears to be building his own version of the Yellowstone universe, confirming that he currently has 40 shows across 15 networks. There’s no apparent connection between the Power universe and BMF, The Oath, or For Life, but 50 Cent could easily link these all up with one crossover episode. Fightland is in a world of its own for now, but we’ll see how a potential Season 2 pans out.
50 Cent recently added the TV adaptation of the Payday video games to his slate of projects. Payday has players taking on high-stakes heists, bank robberies, rival criminal enterprises, and law enforcement as masked criminals. This is not the first time he has been tagged to helm a video-game-to-TV adaptation. In 2023, he posted a photo of the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City logo on Instagram, sparking rumors that he’s somehow involved with the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. It was later revealed that he’s actually developing Vice City, a Miami-based TV series for Lionsgate and Paramount+.
