Lone Star’ Season 5 Pushed to Fall 2024 at Fox

9-1-1: Lone Star” Season 5 will not return to Fox until Fall 2024, Variety has confirmed.

According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the fifth season of the spinoff series will consist of 12 episodes. Fox will use “Lone Star,” it’s highest-rated drama, to launch its new shows “Doc” and “Rescue: Hi-Surf,” both of which were ordered earlier this year but have yet to begin production.

It is the latest production impacted by the writers’ and actors’ strikes that shutdown Hollywood for much of the year. With shows scrambling to get back up and running now that both strikes are settled, a number of series are being pushed to later dates. Most recently, CBS announced premiere dates for several of their scripted shows for midseason, while others are also being pushed to next fall. Those shows will also have abbreviated runs, like “Lone Star.”

But fans of Rob Lowe, who leads the “Lone Star” cast, can expect to see him back on Fox on Jan. 2 when the network debuts the new game show “The Floor,” of which he is the host.

It was announced in May that “Lone Star” had been renewed for a fifth season, while “9-1-1” would be moving from Fox to ABC for that show’s seventh season. ABC has yet to set a premiere date for the series, which has yet to resume production but is expected to do so in January.

The 2023-2024 broadcast season was heavily impacted by the strikes, with nearly all scripted original programming being replaced by unscripted fare, repeats, and foreign imports.

Deadline first reported “Lone Star’s” move to Fall 2024.
