Kelly Clarkson just learned all about push presents, though she’s already a mother of two.
The entire concept was recently explained to her by Priyanka Chopra and former motorcycle racer Carey Hart during a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. “When you have the baby, you should get a gift,” Chopra explained, to which Clarkson replied, “Well, you get the baby, right?”
Chopra clarified that a new mother should receive the present from their partner, though no actual pushing is required. The 40-year-old actor welcomed her first daughter, Malta Marie, via surrogate in January 2022, and we can’t help but wonder what husband Nick Jonas got for her…
Meanwhile, Clarkson shares two children—River Rose, 8, and Remy, 7—with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. “I didn’t get a present,” Clarkson said, adding, “I know, that should have been a red flag. I honestly don’t know that he knew.”
If he wanted to, he would—just ask Hart! True to his roots, Hart gave his superstar wife Pink a pretty hardcore push present: a custom motorcycle. “Between me and her, it made sense,” Hart told Clarkson. “I gave this to her as a thank you for being an awesome mom and birthing my child.”
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020 after seven years of marriage, and it was not a clean break. After a lengthy settlement battle, she was reportedly required to make a one-time payment of $1.3 million to Blackstock in addition to monthly payments of $115,000 for spousal and child support. The former couple splits custody of their two children, but Clarkson is also entangled in an ongoing lawsuit against her former father-in-law’s management company.
