Henry Cavill Gave The Flash Star Sasha Calle’s Supergirl His Approval

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Flash.

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill holds no ill will towards The Flash and his iteration of Superman being left out in favor of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, with the actress revealing that Cavill gave her his approval. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Calle revealed that she did indeed meet her fellow Super-hero, heaping praise on the actor and his portrayal of the DC icon.

“Yes, I met him. I met him actually after the movie was done, months later. I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.”

Calle was quick to ask the Superman actor whether he approved of her performance as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl in The Flash, revealing that he described her role as “phenomenal.”

“I asked him, ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?’ And he was like, ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world, because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.”

Cavill’s applause for Calle’s Supergirl comes quickly following the revelation that the Man of Steel and Justice League star has seen The Flash and “loved it.” While there had been whispers early on that Cavill’s Superman would cameo amid the multiversal madness of The Flash, this does not seem to be the case. Much to the chagrin of Cavill fans. However, The Flash will not be short on people sporting the giant “S” on their chests…

Supergirl Is Just One of the Super Variants Due to Appear in the Flash

DC Comics

Worlds will collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for.

Be warned, SPOILERS incoming, as The Flash director Andy Muschietti has now revealed that Sasha Calle’s Supergirl will not be the only Kryptonian variant to feature. The filmmaker recently confirmed the ongoing rumor that none other than Oscar winner Nicolas Cage will don the red cape and cameo as an alternate Superman at some point during the multiversal chaos. “Nic was absolutely wonderful,” the director said. “Although the role was a cameo, he dove into it… I dreamt all my life to work with him. I hope I can work with him again soon.”

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, The Flash sees Justice League star Ezra Miller return to the role of Barry Allen aka The Flash. The rest of the cast includes Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, and Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, with Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton starring as variant versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The Flash is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 16, 2023.
