While the SAG-AFTRA strike is over and Hollywood will soon return to work, studios will be feeling the effects of the strike for years to come.
Now that the dust has settled, Disney announced their new release schedule, which includes the delay of a series of Marvel films.
Four Marvel Films Have Been Pushed Back
Deadpool 3, which was previously slated for a May 3, 2024 release, will now hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
If that date sounds familiar, it should. Fans had been expecting Captain America: Brave New World to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. With Deadpool 3 assuming the slot, Captain America 4 will now move to February 14, 2025.

Additionally, Thunderbolts, which was expected to hit theaters on December 20, 2024, is being pushed back to July 25, 2025. Finally, the upcoming Blade reboot has shifted from February 15, 2025, to November 7, 2025.
‘Deadpool 3’ Will Be Marvel’s Lone 2024 Release
Interstingly, Deadpool 3 will now be the sole Marvel Studios film released in theaters in 2024. Typically the studio releases three or four tentpole films a year.

Rumors had previously circulated that the SAG-AFTRA strike had gone on too long for Deadpool 3 to be ready on time. Now, after a four-month delay, Marvel Studios is set to get production up and running before Thanksgiving.
While Deadpool 3 was in the middle of production when the strike hit, Captain America: Brave New World had already completed principal photography before the strike. While the film may require additional photography, a seven-month delay will be a long wait.
Thunderbolts and Blade, meanwhile, had yet to start production before the strike.
‘The Lion King’ Prequel Also Delayed
Outside of Marvel, the prequel to the 2019 remake of The Lion King has also been delayed. Mufasa: The Lion King will vacate its July 5, 2024 slot and move to December 20, 2024.
The Hollywood strikes may be over, but the consequences of the prolonged shutdown are only starting to be revealed.
