After taking a much needed holiday, Andrew Garfield is back once again to having a fully packed schedule, with 2 new films lined up and one new limited series.
After having a very eventful year in 2021 with the premiere of “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, “Tick, Tick … Boom!” which earned him his second Oscar nomination in 2022 and the premiere of “Spider-Man-No Way Home” Andrew was doing press left and right in 2021. When 2022 rolled around, Andrew only had one project lined up, “Under The Banner Of Heaven”, where he plays a mormon detective trying to solve a series of murders, this performance earned him his first Emmy nomination.
After “Under The Banner of Heaven” ended Andrew decided to rest for a while, “I’m going to rest for a little bit,” Garfield told Variety “I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for awhile. I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while,” and he did, fans would often see Andrew surfing, traveling or simply just enjoying life. Garfield is coming off Emmy and SAG nominations for his work in “Under the Banner of Heaven”
But now it’s back to work for Andrew Garfield, because he’s got a lot on his upcoming slate.
‘Hot Air’
Soon after his first Emmy nomination for “Under the Banner of Heaven“, Garfield landed the lead role in another limited series. “Hot Air”, in which he will portray world famous British entrepreneur Richard Branson. The series will be directed by David Leitch who helmed Deadpool 2.
Frankenstein
Garfield has worked with many talented directors over the years such as Martin Scorsese, Mel Gibson, Lin Manuel Miranda, acting in an Guillermo del Toro film would be an incredible feat for him. Del Toro recently won the Oscar for Best animated feature for Pinocchio, and sources tell Deadline that Guillermo del Toro is getting closer to finding his next live-action film. Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth are in early talks to star in del Toro’s Frankenstein at Netflix. Del Toro will write and direct the pic. He has has met with all three actors, and each is on board to star. Netflix and Guillermo del Toro have begun negotiations with three stars (Oscaar Isaac, Andrew Garfield and Mia Goth) for his live-action adaptation of Mary Shelley’s genre-defining horror novel, “Frankenstein”. In the past, del Toro has also talked about wanting to do “Bride of Frankenstein”, but it is unclear which roles which actors will play.
We Live In Time
They say if you wish for something hard enough it will happen. Fans have been wishing for a long time now to see Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh in a film together, which is why after the two made a splash after presenting at the 2023 Oscars they had the whole internet abuzz. Pretty smart marketing move as it was later announced that the two are in negotiations to star in Studio Canal’s upcoming film “We Live In Time”. With John Crowley who previously worked with Andrew Garfield 16 years ago on the film “Boy A” landing him A BAFTA Win is on board to direct, with Nick Payne penning the script. Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps. However it is being described as a funny, deeply moving and immersive love story.
In 2017 it was announced that Garfield would star in and produce “Black Lion”, a drama that Alessandro Camon would write about the memorable life and controversial death of war correspondent Carlos Mavroleon. Sadly it’s been 6 years and the film is still in development. It is unclear when we will get to see the film “Black Lion”, but it is still on Garfield’s filmography.
It’s gonna be a busy few years for Andrew Garfield, luckily he’s used to that.
