Alison Brie Says She’s Comfortable Filming Intimate Scenes With Jay Ellis While Dave Franco Directs

Alison Brie discusses the filming process for Somebody I Used to Know with her husband, Dave Franco, in the director’s chair.

The film Somebody I Used to Know has proven the professionalism of Alison Brie and husband Dave Franco. Brie starred opposite Jay Ellis, while Dave Franco directed the movie. The film was based on the story written by Brie and Franco during the pandemic. The actress revealed that, more than anything, their priority would be successfully wrapping the film.

The film sees some intimate moments between Alison Brie and Jay Ellis’ character. While some people might find it weird to see their partner intimate with someone else, the actress revealed that these things don’t bother them anymore. In an interview with Jezebel, Brie said they had worked together enough, and an intimate scene with other people doesn’t make them uncomfortable.

The actress further revealed that they probably got over the excruciating feeling of jealousy because of what they had to do on their second film together. Unlike Penn Badgley, who’s uncomfortable with filming racy scenes, Brie is cool with doing intimate scenes as long as the role calls for it. When asked about Franco’s apprehensions about filming the intimate scenes with Jay Ellis, Brie said, “If there was, he didn’t say anything to me about it, so I’m glad. “

She went on to detail filming her second film with Franco saying, “The second movie that we did together ever, as actors, was Jeff Baena’s The Little Hours, and in that movie, Dave has make-out…scenes with three other actresses and me. So, I just feel like that was the ripping of the band-aid. You know what I mean, I was like, ‘Oh right!’. I realized that it sounds wild, but we are actors. This is our job. It’s actually not that weird and with something like, it’s the first baby we made together, and I think our first priority is always just the movie.”

Alison Brie also shared how they came up with Somebody I Used to Know, she said, “We sort of came out of it from few directions. We first came up with the idea when we were in Dave’s hometown in Palo Alto in Northern California. And we were taking a walk from his high school to his mom’s house. Dave is still really close with a lot of his friends from elementary school basically. And when we’re back at his mom’s house, it’s like a mini time capsule. “

She continued, “I think it had us thinking about that feeling when you’re back home and when you see people from your past. And how you kind of can’t hide your truest self from them and also as we get older when we go back, you start to analyze, am I where I thought I would be when I was a teenager? What dreams came true, which ones didn’t?”
