The Jonas Brothers Bring The Walls Down At Studio 8H On SNL

The Jonas Brothers Returned to Studio 8H as the musical guests on the 8th of April 2023 with SNL legend Molly Shannon hosting, this was their third time as musical guests on the show. The Jonas Brothers, consisting of Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas were previously musical guests on February 14, 2009 and May 11, 2019.

Just two days prior to the show the Jonas Brother released a new single from their upcoming sixth studio album simply titled “The Album”, the second and final single from “The Album”, “Waffle HouseThe song has a personal meaning to the group. Which is why when they performed it live for the first time on Saturday Night Live, it was an extra special moment.

In a statement released about the song, they went on to say “Growing up, we would go to Waffle House after shows, and it became our sanctuary, It was the place we dreamt up ideas, the place where we worked through our problems together, and the place where we finally realized we could find our way through anything as long as we came together.” The statement continued, “‘Waffle House’ was born from a simple but powerful idea: When you sit down with the people that matter most, anything is possible. This song isn’t about a restaurant, it’s about coming together with the people you love and making your dreams come true.”

The Jonas Brothers also treated the SNL audience to another new, unreleased song from “The Album” titled “Walls”. this debut live performance, backed by a chorus and featuring Jon Bellion with Joe Jonas’ powerful vocals and Nick and Kevin on Guitar had us all feeling a little emotional especially with the songs lyrics, “If you ever left me, I would die
And even the walls would cry.” This is the closing track to “The Album”.

Not only did we get to see the Jonas’s light it up with their vocals, but we got to see what they can do with a bit of sketch comedy, and they nailed it in an absolutely hilarious sketch.

This particular sketch was a special one indeed since it saw the return of a beloved SNL character. One of Molly Shannon’s most popular character’s from her six seasons on the show is Sally O’Malley, a brash 50-year-old ‘dancer’. best known for her trademark red outfit and frizzy hairdo. In this sketch we see The Jonas brothers who have just hired Sally as their new choreographer enter the dance studio to prove to their old choreograohers what an amazing job she’s done, and well, brace yourself because after a minor Jonas Strip Tease/Costume Change Kevin, Joe and and Nick start dancing to Sally’s moves… in matching red pantsuits. Kick, Stretch, Move!

Nick even made a small cameo in the sketch titled The Play. Nick is the only Jonas Brother to have hosted SNL on February 27, 2021, and when he did pulled double duty as musical guest too.

Looking forward to the next time we get to see The Jonas Brothers on SNL. Maybe even as hosts, together this time. The Jonas Brothers will be releasing “The Album” on May 12, 2023.
