Tom Holland Stars In Apple TV’s Psychological Thriller “The Crowded Room”

Apple TV+ debuted a first look at “The Crowded Room,” the gripping, limited series starring and executive produced by Tom Holland, and created by Academy Award-winning writer and executive producer Akiva Goldsman (“A Beautiful Mind”), directed by Kornel Mundruczo.

“The Crowded Room” is an anthology series that will explore inspirational stories of those who have struggled with mental illness and learned to live successfully with it. The first season is a 10-episode limited series that stars Holland as Danny Sullivan, a man who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. A captivating thriller told through a series of interviews with curious interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), Danny unveils his life through a series of interviews Rya Goodwin, and slowly details to her, and the audience, his mysterious past that led him to the fateful incident. As Danny retrospectively examines his life, he reckons with his past and a few pivotal moments, that ultimately leads him to uncover a life-altering revelation. The first season is inspired by Daniel Keyes’ biography The Minds of Billy Milligan. which is based on his case, Billy Milligan was the first person acquitted of a crime because of multiple-personality disorder, now known as dissociative identity disorder. Though the Apple TV+ series has altered most of the details, changing Milligan’s name to Danny Sullivan and changing his original crime. It follows Sullivan’s interrogation, interspersing that with flashbacks to his upbringing.

Starring an ensemble cast led by Holland, Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum. The series stars Sasha Lane (“Conversations With Friends”), Will Chase (“Dopesick”), Lior Raz (“Fauda”), Laila Robins (“Planes, Trains and Automobiles”), Henry Eikenberry (“Euphoria”) and guest stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”), Christopher Abbott (“Catch-22”), Thomas Sadoski (“The Newsroom”) and Zachary Golinger (“A Quiet Place”).

“The Crowded Room” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes of its 10-episode first season on Friday, June 9, 2023, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through July 28, 2023.
