Saros owners can tackle a new boss-rush mode with global leaderboards, push into New Game+ challenges, and adjust combat with fresh accessibility settings in the free Zenith update, which became available on October 19, 2026. The update is for the PS5-exclusive shooter and adds new options for both returning players and newcomers.
Housemarque outlined the update’s features on the official PlayStation Blog. Alongside Overlord Rush, Zenith expands Carcosan Modifiers, introduces Eclipse Layers, and adds controls that let players tune the pace and demands of combat.
Overlord Rush Turns Boss Replays Into a Competition
Overlord Rush is a training simulation accessed through the Primary Unit in Passage, Saros’ main hub. It sends players back against powerful Overlords from the main game, with dedicated tasks and leaderboards for comparing scores with friends and players around the world.
The mode divides its fights into sets rather than making every run one uninterrupted sequence. Incursion and Ascension each feature three Overlords and are designed to take about 10 minutes, while Totality lines up all eight Overlords in one continuous gauntlet.
Leaderboard results can be filtered by Main Weapon, giving players a way to compare runs using the same weapon choice. An internet connection and a PlayStation account are required for the online competition. The format adds a focused reason to revisit major encounters, much like the structured endgame activity in a recent Frozen Trail update.
New Settings and Modifiers Change the Challenge
Zenith adds two settings that make combat more manageable without removing every demand on the player. Slow Game Speed gives players extra time to read attack telegraphs and react to projectiles; its slowdown amount is adjustable, and it can activate automatically during combat or be switched on manually.
Auto-fire makes the weapon fire while the player aims at a hostile, reducing the need to hold the trigger through a fight. Reloading remains manual, and a perfect reload still calls for a well-timed button press.
The update also brings 10 new Protection Modifiers and 10 new Trial Modifiers to the Carcosan Modifier system. Corruption Melee Enhancement turns built-up Corruption into extra damage when a melee strike connects, while Hostile Regeneration raises the stakes: certain larger enemies recover after taking weapon damage and must be finished with a melee attack.
Eclipse Layers Add a New Game+ Route
After clearing Saros, players will find new nodes in the Armor Matrix at Passage that open the way to Eclipse Layers. Each layer is a tougher version of the game with altered rules, and players must select a Carcosan Modifier loadout that meets a required threshold before entering.
There are 25 Trial Modifiers to choose from, allowing players to shape the challenge while meeting that threshold. The trials can also combine in punishing ways, so a loadout calls for more thought than simply taking every difficulty increase available.
Eclipse Layers also add 12 Visions: murals and messages that reveal more story text as Arjun reaches higher Crown levels. His Crown and Armor turn increasingly elaborate as players take on more Trials and raise their Modifier Balance, making difficulty choices visible during a run.
A Free Update With Two Clear Paths
Housemarque describes Zenith as an update built to improve replayability for existing players while making Saros more accessible to new ones. The new settings reduce reaction-time and control demands, but features such as manual reloading preserve moments that still reward timing.
For veterans, Eclipse Layers offer a longer-form endgame challenge, while Overlord Rush gives boss replays a quick, score-focused structure. Players can jump into a three-Overlord set or take on Totality’s full eight-fight gauntlet, then compare results through the weapon-filtered leaderboards.
