This year’s Golden Globe Nominations features a tremendous amount of content and a variety of talented actors both old and new.
In Television, Abbott Elementary leads the nominees with The Crown, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Only Murders in the Building, Pam and Tommy and The White Lotus just behind. As for film, The Banshees of Inisherin is in the lead with Everything Everywhere All at Once at second place, Babylon, The Fabelmans, Elvis, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and TÁR following respectively.
Some of this year’s nominees are on the verge of making history, and some already have. Here are some special facts to keep in mind about the 2023 Golden Globe nominees.
Steve Martin is the oldest man to be nominated for the category Best Television Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series. This is Steve’s 7th Golden Globe nomination, and could be his first ever win. He is nominated for his HULU series “Only Murders In The Building”.
Henry Winkler could make history as the first man to ever be awarded a Golden Globe for both lead and supporting performances in a comedy series. He previously won Best Actor twice for Happy Days, and is now nominated for the show “Barry” in the category Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series/Musical-Comedy or Drama category. His Co-Star and the show’s creator Bill Hader is also nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy.
Niecy Nash could become the first Black actress to win a Golden Globe for any limited series for her performance in “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” This is her first Golden Globe nomination.
Jenna Ortega is the second youngest competitor in the history of the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy category. She is nominated for her new hot Netflix show ” Wednesday”. This is her first Golden Globe nomination.
Father and son duo Brendan Gleeson and Domhnall Gleeson are both nominees. Brendon is nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for The Banshees of Inisherin and Domhall is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in Supporting Role, Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture made for Television for The Patient.
Julia Garner is a double nominee, nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Television Musical, Comedy or Drama Series for Ozark and Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for Inventing Anna.
2023 will also see an impressive 41 first time Golden Globe nominees that include Aubrey Plaza, Austin Butler, Barry Keoghan, Brendan Fraser, Diego Luna, Emma D’Arcy, Evan Peters, Michelle Yeoh, Quinta Brunson, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, Sebastian Stan, Selena Gomez and Zendaya.
Jerrod Carmichael will host the ceremony which is set to air Tuesday, Jan. 10 on NBC and Peacock.
