You Need To Keep These 3 Sony Mirrorless Cameras on Your Radar

For our “Deals of the Week,” these amazing Sony mirrorless cameras to get you shooting content, films, and photos.

The past decade has been a boon for Sony. The company has not only refined its camera line but created tools for all sorts of creatives—from big Hollywood cinematographers to budget filmmakers and everyone in between.

For our Deals of the Week, we found some amazing options to keep you on a budget and get amazing footage and photos.

Sitting in the higher resolution realm, the Sony a7R IVA is a noteworthy addition to Sony’s series of highly capable full-frame cameras. Characterized by impressive stills and video performance and versatility, this fourth edition of the a7R sees the inclusion of an updated 61MP sensor along with faster processing, improved AF performance, and a more well-rounded feature set for both high-end photo and video applications.

Featuring a back-illuminated design, the newly designed full-frame 61MP Exmor R CMOS sensor offers a mixture of incredible resolution with high clarity, low noise, and a wide 15-stop dynamic range. The sensor’s structure promotes impressive image quality, and a copper wiring layer dramatically improves data transmission speed for creating 14-bit, high-resolution 61MP stills with a native sensitivity range from ISO 100-32000, which can be further expanded to ISO 50-102400.

The Sony a7 III is a well-rounded camera suitable for photo and video applications in various working situations. Refined for improved speed and low-light performance, the 24.2MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor and BIONZ X processor benefit image quality, video capabilities, and AF performance. The a7 III also sports a revised body design, with a new touchscreen LCD, improved EVF, larger battery, and dual memory card slots.

Featuring a back-illuminated design much like the a7R IV, the full-frame 24.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor works with the BIONZ X image processor to offer high-resolution stills and video while minimizing noise and improving speed. The BSI design also dramatically improves data transmission speed for creating 14-bit, high-resolution stills with a native sensitivity range from ISO 100-51200, which can be further expanded to ISO 50-204800.

Also, it enables internal UHD 4K video recording with a wide dynamic range using the full width of the full-frame sensor. The BIONZ X processor also works in conjunction with a high-speed front-end LSI to realize faster processing times, along with the ability to capture an impressive 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivity values.

While the new Sony ZV-E1 has just recently been released, the Sony ZV-1 is still a strong contender for vloggers and content creators. This purpose-built compact camera blends the proven imaging capabilities of the RX100-series platform with an updated physical design for more efficient content creation.

Featuring a side flip-out 3.0-inch touchscreen and a directional 3-capsule microphone that are perfect for front-facing recording, the ZV-1 also caters to this crowd with the Product Showcase Setting, Background Defocus function, Soft Skin Effect, and Face Priority Auto-Exposure.

Despite its sleek and lightweight design, the ZV-1 is also characterized by its large right-hand grip that is ideal for one-handed recording in conjunction with a front tally lamp, a larger REC button on the top plate, and a Multi Interface Shoe for attaching accessories. An impressive ZEISS 24-70mm-equivalent standard zoom lens, with a bright f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture range, is also featured and, suiting recording while walking, Active SteadyShot image stabilization helps to steady footage and reduce the appearance of camera shake for smoother takes.
