Yellowjackets Season 2 takes the Showtime hit into even darker, campier territory than the first season did, embracing every single idiosyncratic beat that made the thriller a cult hit. The show follows a girls’ high school soccer team that gets stranded in a frigid hellscape after a plane crash and the twisted lives of the survivors in the present day. In the ’90s storyline, the girls are becoming increasingly dependent on teammate Lottie (Courtney Eaton), who seems to have a sixth sense for all things occult. However, not all the Yellowjackets are as fond of Lottie’s woo-woo ways, prompting tension in the past. In the contemporary storyline, the survivors are scattered and dealing with their own immediate problems, ranging from covering up a homicide to dealing with a second personality. Yellowjackets is full of ’90s nostalgia, teen girl nastiness, and deliciously good performances. It’s worth the weekly tune-in, if not a fevered binge.
