The next generation of XREAL glasses are now available for pre-order.
The XREAL Air 2 and XREAL Air 2 Pro glasses “can turn whatever the wearer is viewing into a big screen experience, up to 330 inches”, the manufacturer claims.
The glasses feature micro-OLED displays with a higher pixel density than the previous model, as well as improved brightness and colour reproduction.
“As the world’s first AR glasses to feature the latest Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation’s 0.55-inch Micro-OLED displays, XREAL Air 2 series AR glasses pack an incredible 4,032 pixels-per-inch, delivering a crisp and visually stunning virtual screen experience at 49 pixels-per-degree (PPD),” XREAL said in a statement.
“A Full HD display resolution of 1920 x 1080 per eye, an ultra-high contrast ratio of 100,000:1, and 500 nits brightness ensure content is presented in incredibly sharp detail.
“Each Micro-OLED display has been precisely calibrated to meet the Gamma 2.2 standard so that wearers can enjoy accurate color reproduction without sacrificing image quality. XREAL Air 2 series AR glasses have a response rate speed of 0.01 milliseconds or less, and pack a fast refresh-rate of up to 120Hz.”
The Pro model also includes one-touch dimming control, which lets players select the immersion level of their glasses with three pre-configured modes.
Transparent mode blocks no light through the lenses, meaning users can still see everything around them, Productivity mode blocks around 35% of external light to improve concentration, and Immersive mode blocks all light for a more cinematic experience.
The glasses are available for pre-order now at the XREAL website, at a price of $399 / €459 / £399 for the XREAL Air 2 and $449 / €515 / £449 for the XREAL Air 2 Pro.
