Wynonna Judd insists that all is well with her, despite concerns by fans who watched her jacket-clutching performance Wednesday night with Jelly Roll at the CMA Awards.
Judd walked out to perform with Jelly Roll in the middle of the “Need a Favor” song by taking small steps, then spent the bulk of the song’s performance holding tightly to Jelly Roll’s jacket while he kept a hand on her. At one point, it appeared she tugged him back when he attempted to move away.
That prompted social media questions from fans, many of them worried that she was suffering a recurrence of the vertigo that caused her to cancel her appearance at the 2022 New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash show.
Late Wednesday night, Judd posted to social media to address concerns over her CMA show. “OK, so they say ‘Don’t read the comments’ – I read the comments.”
She continued, “I’m just gonna come clean with y’all, I was so freaking nervous. I got out there, and I looked at Jelly Roll, I wanted it to be so good for him. I could cry right now but I’m not going to because I’m such a fan of his, and he asked me to sing, and I said ‘Absolutely.’
“I got out there, and I was just so nervous that I just held on for dear life, and that’s the bottom line.”
Judd has a performance scheduled tonight in San Antonio and has tour dates for the rest of the month.
