Gary King’s behavior on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 has made him an unpopular figure to return next season. The First Officer is one of the oldest cast members on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, appearing on the series for three consecutive seasons. During this period, Gary has enjoyed an excellent relationship with the show’s fanbase, as he is seen as the livewire of the crew. This has often helped him get away with inappropriate behavior, but it seems everyone’s patience may have grown thin on him this season.
Much of the action in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 has centered around the messy love triangle involving Gary, Chief Engineer Colin MacRae, and Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher. This unexpected storyline has somewhat put Gary on edge, and some of his character flaws have now become more exaggerated. Because of this, he may not have a chance to return to the show.

Gary has always had a romantic charm that made him quite appealing to the ladies on the boat. Of all the male crew members to ever set foot in the Parsifal III, he’s the one who has been linked with the most boatmances. Gary’s playboy persona has once again been a focal point on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. Nevertheless, this season has exposed a worrying trend to how he goes about things on the Parsifal III.
Due to some of his antics, Gary is coming off as creepy in how he pursues flings with some of the ladies. This weird behavior is even more pronounced when considering how he has responded to the developing romance between Daisy and Colin. Apart from that, Gary makes many of the ladies uncomfortable with his sexual gestures and doesn’t respect their personal space. Additionally, Gary has received heavy backlash for grabbing and kissing some of the women even after they tell him no.
Gary Causes Too Much Drama
Gary has been at the center of much of the drama on the Parsifal III for much of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. While this has made the series quite fun to watch this season, he has served as a disruptive force on the boat. When Gary isn’t picking fights with deckhand Chase Lemacks for no particular reason, he’s busy manipulating Colin and Daisy through his words, thereby making things messier than necessary. Even his relationship with Mads Herrera hasn’t gone as smoothly, and the deckhand noted she regrets picking Gary and having to deal with all his drama.
The Gary, Daisy & Colin Love Triangle May Be An Issue Next Season
Gary’s behavior in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 has made things quite tense between his once closely-knit trio with Daisy and Colin. Although Gary and Daisy’s romantic interest in each other has always been present from previous seasons, the first mate always had eyes for other ladies on deck. Gary never showed a genuine desire to make things official between himself and Daisy, even though the latter had expressed interest in him following their boatmance during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3.
Despite hooking up with Mads earlier this season, Gary immediately switched attention to Daisy once she started getting close to Colin. This is after he denied having feelings for Daisy and gave Colin the nod to begin a relationship with her. Gary’s actions betrayed Colin, and things were pretty tense between the trio in recent episodes. With how things are currently set up, it’s likely that this awkward situation will spill over to Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5.
