Hamptons International Film Festival set to premiere, ‘Who Invited Charlie?’

Who Invited Charlie is set to premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) on October 8th. The film is the story of a troubled family hiding out in the Hamptons whose bubble is popped when a Bloody Mary-swilling, pot-smoking ‘Charlie’ from their past shows up unannounced bringing with him a lifetime of hurt that might actually heal them all.

“Who Invited Charlie?” stars Jordana Brewster (“Fast & Furious 7”) as Rosie, Adam Pally (“Happy Endings”) as Charlie, Reid Scott (“Veep”) as Phil and Dylan Penn (“Flag Day”) as Jess. Xosha Roquemore (“The Mindy Project”) and Peter Dager round out the cast. Nicholas Schutt (“Outer Banks”) wrote the screenplay.

In the film, Scott plays, Phil Schreiber, a self-involved hedge fund manager escapes to the Hamptons with his wife and son at the beginning of the pandemic. Making an already fraught situation worse is the surprise arrival of Phil’s college roommate Charlie (Adam Pally). An exemplar of Falstaffian excess, Charlie is also the keeper of some of Phil’s darkest secrets. To make matters worse for Phil, his wife and son love Charlie. As Charlie makes himself at home — secrets are revealed that threaten to do more harm than the virus they’re all hiding out from.

Jason Dubin (“The Babysitters”), Perry Street Films and Nicholas Schutt produce. David Frankel (“Devil Wears Prada”) is exec. producing alongside Jordana Brewster and Adam Pally. Manrique and Scott are producing.
