Change is on the economic horizon for Destiny 2, as Legendary Shards will soon be retired from the game. What does this mean in the grand scheme of things? Well if you’ve been hoarding them, then now is a good time go on a spending spree as Xur is back in the cosmic neighborhood with new Exotics in stock. Here’s where Xur is this weekend and what he has for sale.
This week you can find Xur in the EDZ, in the Winding Cove area. For his weapon, Xur is offering Trinity Ghoul. Hunters can pick up the Young Ahamkara’s Spine gauntlets; Titans can grab the Crest of Alpha Lupi armor; and Warlocks can buy the Ophidian Aspect gauntlets.
Xur Location
Spawn in at the Winding Cove transmat zone, then hop on your sparrow and go north. Take the collapsed overpass on the left and look for a cave near the bend in the road. Follow the tunnel through the cliff face to reach a higher ridge where a Fallen dropship has crashed; you’ll find Xur waiting there.
Xur Exotic and Legendary Items
- Exotic Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
- Trinity Ghoul – 29 Legendary Shards
- Young Ahamkara’s Spine – 23 Legendary Shards
- Crest of Alpha Lupi – 23 Legendary Shards
- Ophidian Aspect – 23 Legendary Shards
- Hawkmoon – 200 Legendary Shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
- Xenology quest – Free
- Legendary weapons and armor – 50 Legendary Shards, 1,000 Glimmer
Xur also offers the Xenology quest every week, which requires you to complete 21 Vanguard Ops or win Crucible and Gambit matches so that you can earn an Exotic Cipher. These are normally used to buy old Exotics from a kiosk in the Tower, but from this season, you’ll be able to spend them at Master Rahoolto get the Exotics that you want. The cap on Exotic Ciphers has also increased, as you’ll now be able to hold up to five of them at a time.
Exotic Armor
Young Ahamkara’s Spine (Exotic Hunter gauntlets)
This set of ghoulish gauntlets will increase Tripmine Grenade duration and blast radius, which works well for any Hunters looking to lay an explosive trap. Ability damage also grants Tripmine Grenade energy, so your uptime on recharging that power gets shortened substantially. For the stats, recovery is very high, recovery and strength are low, and the crucial discipline stat is above average, so you won’t need to invest too many armor mods on this Exotic.
- Mobility: 10
- Resilience: 19
- Recovery: 3
- Discipline: 14
- Intellect: 9
- Strength: 6
- Total: 61
Crest of Alpha Lupi (Exotic Titan armor)
A regal Exotic for Titans, Crest of Alpha Lupi generates an additional Orb of Power from Supers and a healing pulse whenever Barricade is activated. That gives it plenty of functionality, and for the stats, it has excellent strength and resilience. Recovery is around average, but discipline and intellect are very low so you’ll need to compensate with your armor mods.
- Mobility: 7
- Resilience: 17
- Recovery: 11
- Discipline: 2
- Intellect: 2
- Strength: 30
- Total: 69
Ophidian Aspect (Exotic Warlock gauntlets)
For the Warlock who likes to spend time in PvP, Ophidian Aspect is a pretty good Exotic to have equipped. If you’re confident in your Destiny 2 firearm skills, then you’ll benefit from greatly increased weapon ready and reload speeds. This roll of Ophidian Aspect has high resilience and strength stats, average recovery and discipline, and very low intellect.
- Mobility: 3
- Resilience: 18
- Recovery: 13
- Discipline: 10
- Intellect: 2
- Strength: 20
- Total: 66
Exotic Weapons
Trinity Ghoul (Exotic bow)
Bows are pretty powerful this season thanks to the seasonal artifact, and Trinity Ghoul is an excellent spin on the medieval weapon. This Exotic works well with Arc-focused builds, as it fires an Arc energy arrow that splits into three projectiles. Aiming down sights decreases the spread, and for an added trick, precision kills grant the next shot chain-lightning abilities.
- Split Electron
- High Tension String
- Compact Arrow Shaft
- Lightning Rod
Hawkmoon (Exotic hand cannon)
Hawkmoon is a pretty average roll this week, with the refreshed perk Snapshot Sights providing faster time to aim down sights. It’s an average perk that could be quicker, but we’ve seen worse rolls of Hawkmoon before.
- Paracausal Shot
- Fluted Barrel
- Alloy Magazine
- Snapshot Sights
- Textured Grip

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.
