A new report reveals when The Batman: Part II is set to start its principal photography, as Matt Reeves’ DC franchise moves forward.
A new report has revealed when The Batman: Part II starts filming. While DC Studios is going forward with a new DC Universe, they are also continuing their Elseworlds franchises, including The Batman. Starring Robert Pattinson, this take on the Caped Crusader follows a younger iteration of Bruce Wayne. While The Batman didn’t do the traditional origin story, it still followed a Dark Knight who is a work in progress. After commercial and critical success, The Batman 2 was officially greenlit by Warner Bros. Discovery. Matt Reeves is officially back to both direct and write the sequel.
While news on The Batman: Part II has been slow, the film is getting closer to moving forward. According to Production Weekly (via Batman-News), principal photography is set to begin in November at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in England. The same studio was used to film The Batman, so it makes sense for the sequel to return there. Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios have yet to confirm the report.
Everything We Know About The Batman 2
Out of all the potential cast members for The Batman 2, Pattinson is the only one confirmed to return. However, chances of several players from The Batman coming back are hight, especially Colin Farrell’s Penguin, who is getting his own spinoff show on HBO Max. The show will likely air this year or next, then The Batman 2 will hit theaters on October 3, 2025, as DC Studios announced last month. That will be the second film to hit theaters in 2025, following Superman: Legacy that summer.
In terms of the villains for The Batman 2, that has been one of the biggest speculative topics surrounding the sequel. During the press tour for The Batman, several cast members talked about their interest in seeing the Court of Owls come to the franchise. Despite introducing The Joker in the first film, Reeves has said he isn’t sure if the Clown Prince of Crime will star in The Batman 2. However, Barry Keoghan could still appear for another tease, then play a bigger role in a later project set in The Batman universe.
With principal photography seemingly happening later this year, that means casting news is bound to come out in the months prior to the filming start. Since Pattinson’s Batman is rumored to appear in The Penguin, there may be characters from the series that appear in The Batman 2. Once news begins to come out about The Batman: Part II, it will be easier to tell what the next story is going to be for Pattinson’s Dark Knight.
