When ‘Lioness’ Season 3 Releases & Full Schedule

Taylor Sheridan is known for creating some of the biggest, most influential, and most beloved TV shows of the modern era. Landman, Yellowstone, Marshals, and the spy thriller series Lioness all come from his creative mind. In Lioness, Joe McNamara, played by Zoe Saldaña, is a CIA agent leading an all-female special ops team, known as Lionesses; they go undercover to take down enemies during the war on terror. Although Season 1 of the show, which debuted in 2023, received mixed reviews, Season 2, which debuted in 2024, came back swinging and earned a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to Season 1’s 54%.

It’s been two years since we last saw Joe and her Lionesses, a longer absence compared to the gap between Season 1 and Season 2. Season 3 can’t come soon enough. Luckily, the wait for Lioness will soon be over, and Season 3, Episode 1, “The Spider and the Fly,” will be here.

‘Lioness’ Season 3 Release Date and Full Schedule

Season 3 of Lioness will premiere on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, on the Paramount+ streaming app. Season 3 will have eight episodes in total, and a new one will premiere every Sunday, with a runtime of around 40 to 55 minutes. The season finale will stream on Sept. 20, 2026.

What to Expect in ‘Lioness’ Season 3

When we last saw Joe, she was contemplating stepping down as head of the Lioness program after an infiltration mission involving a Mexican drug cartel went wrong and nearly took her life. In Season 3, Joe is back, and in these eight episodes, she will lead her team into the unknown. She will stop at nothing to take down everyone and everything that stands in their way. In her personal life, following her injury scare, she must now balance dedication to her work with holding her family together.

As mentioned, Saldaña will return as the star of Lioness, along with Nicole Kidman, who plays Kaitlyn, the strategic overseer of the Lioness program and Joe’s boss. Morgan Freeman and Michael Kelly will also be returning this season, playing Edwin (the United States Secretary of State) and Westfield (Deputy Director of the CIA). Cruz, played by Laysla De Oliveira, and Josephina, played by Genesis Rodriguez, are also coming back, and both characters have unique relationships with Joe.

Alongside the returning cast will be a few new faces and characters, including Delta Force operator and K9 handler Grady, played by Ian Bohen, FSB agent Alexi Yurimov, played by Jack Dimich, and Reynada Robinson in an unknown role. In Jan. 2026, Deadline reported that Elizaveta Neretin would be joining the Season 3 cast as well, playing an “international operative who crosses paths with Joe.”

As of the time of this writing, there has been no official announcement of Lionessbeing renewed for a fourth season. Since Season 2 was released in Oct. 2024 and Season 3 wasn’t confirmed until Oct. 2025, there’s definitely still time for a Season 4 announcement. In my opinion, Season 4 is unlikely. Given the TV shows that Sheridan is working on simultaneously, along with some of the more emotional social media posts cast members have made about wrapping up this season, I think we may be saying goodbye to Joe this season.
