Watch How GTA 6 Compares To The Original Vice City And Real-World Florida

Now that the first official footage from the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 has been released, GameSpot has compared the 2023 take on Vice City to 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in a new video. Graphical improvements aside, GTA 6 looks to be staying close to the feel of the original.

In the video, GameSpot compares some of the locations shown in the brand-new trailer to their equivalents in the old Vice City, from beaches to streetscapes, and the Vice City skyline. There’s even a nightclub scene that’s reminiscent of Vice City’s iconic Malibu Club, and the Ocean View Hotel can be glimpsed in the background of one shot.

While the 2002 graphics can’t quite compare to the modern game, Rockstar seems to have captured the feeling of the original game. Check out our side-by-side comparison below.

Just like 2002’s version of Vice City, the world of GTA 6 is heavily based on Miami, so GameSpot has also put together a video comparing some of the trailer’s scenes to their real-world equivalents in Florida.

As well as the shots that recreate some of Florida’s most famous (and infamous) social media moments, GTA 6 is also giving attention to the landscapes, from flocks of flamingos in the Everglades to the iconic cityscapes and beaches that make up Miami. Check out the side-by-side comparison for yourself below.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances around the trailer’s leak and subsequent early release, hype for GTA 6 is at an all-time high now that we’ve had our first official glimpse at the highly anticipated game. The trailer has broken records on YouTube, quickly shooting to over 100 million views and providing a staggering boost to Tom Petty’s Spotify numbers. The game itself unfortunately won’t be seen for a while, with Rockstar aiming for a 2025 release.
