Some of the biggest stars in the world have descended upon New York City for the 2023 Global Citizen Festival. The annual event, held to bring awareness and action to issues of world poverty and sustainability, is happening today, Saturday, September 23 from 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET until 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET.
This year’s event is headlined by BTS star Jungkook, along with Anitta, Lauryn Hill, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Megan Thee Stallion was slated to perform but dropped out last week due to scheduling conflicts. K-pop stars Stray Kids, meantime, were due to perform as an eight-piece, but after some of the members were involved in a minor car accident, the group will now feature Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN, performing under the moniker 3RACHA.

This year’s event will mark Jungkook’s first performance in the U.S. since launching his new solo era this summer. The singer’s single, “Seven” (featuring Latto) quickly hit number one on the charts around the world, and Jungkook is expected to perform the song tonight. While organizers have not released Jungkook’s official set time, he’s likely playing between 5-7 p.m. PT / 8-10 p.m. ET as one of the headliners.
In addition to Jungkook and the other artists mentioned above, Global Citizen 2023 performers include DJ D-Nice, Conan Gray and Sofia Carson, with appearances from Chris Rock, Charlize Theron, Danai Gurira, Sophia Bush, Padma Lakshmi, Connie Britton, Carmelo Anthony, Gail King, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Busy Phillips and others.
More than 60,000 people are expected to turn out to Central Park for today’s event, which organizers say “takes aim at the major issues perpetuating extreme poverty, including the climate emergency, gender inequity, and the global hunger crisis.”
While the event is being broadcast on ABC, you can watch the Global Citizen Festival without cable on Amazon. Amazon will have a live feed to watch Jungkook and all the other artist performances as they hit the stage. The free stream is only available to Amazon Prime members, so make sure you’re logged into your account (or signed up for this free trial) to access the free live stream.
