“Testimony,” the ninth episode of Veep‘s fourth season, will fill the Succession-sized hole in your life, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. It’s shot entirely as tapes from depositions and congressional hearings, a departure from the show’s usual observational style, and it has shades of Tom and Greg‘s respective Succession season 2 congressional testimonies. The culmination of an episodes-long arc, “Testimony” sees President Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and members of her staff testify at House Judiciary Committee hearings regarding a campaign data breach and allegations that she lobbied to kill her own Families First bill. The episode is quintessential Veep — lying, throwing your coworkers under the bus, and, in one of the series’ funniest scenes, a string of insults hurled toward the staff’s human punching bag, Jonah Ryan.
