TOTK (& How To Get Them)

One of the things Link must deal with in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the different climates he will encounter when exploring Hyrule. While the majority of the regions are normal and bearable temperatures, there are several that will put Link in extreme heat or cold.

Luckily armor is a great way to help prevent Link from taking damage in these conditions or even raising his attack power. There are several options to choose from, including everything from individual pieces to full three-piece armor sets.

6 Zant’s Helmet

Zant’s Helmet is a headpiece of armor that though a little extravagant looking, will provide Link with the ability to avoid being frozen by enemies carrying frost weapons. Unfortunately, unlocking it will be rather difficult as it remains deep in The Depths and is inside a chest that can only be accessed after defeating waves of gloom-infested enemies through several rounds.

This will include duos of Moblins, Blue Moblins, Black Moblins, and Silver Moblins, and a finale round including one of each. All of these enemies will be affected by Gloom in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Therefore, Link needs to be readily equipped before heading down to get it. It can be found in the Scorching Coliseum near the Abandoned Eldin Mine.

5 Vah Medoh Divine Helm

The Vah Medoh Divine Helm is another headpiece armor, but rather than protect Link from being frozen by enemies, this will help raise Link’s cold resistance. This is useful as several areas all over the map can do damage to Link in the cold if he is not properly protected, either through clothing or food. To find the Vah Medoh Divine Helm, Link will need to travel to the Hebra Mountains and look for the North Biron Snowshelf Cave. As with several different armor pieces, this is also a piece that can be obtained via the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo feature too, specifically by using the Revali Breath of the Wild Amiibo.

4 Ruby Circlet

The Ruby Circlet is perhaps one of the simplest pieces of Armor that Link can obtain as it is very subtle. This piece of Armor, however, provides the valuable feature of Cold Resistance, primarily due to its Ruby gem. Rubies are Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s gems that have elemental properties, specifically fire, so wearing them in any way, even on a shield or weapon through the Fuse ability, will increase Link’s warmth. The Ruby Circlet is one of the few pieces that doesn’t have to be won from a chest; it can be obtained by purchasing it in Gerudo Town for a steep 1,300 Rupees.

3 Archaic Warm Greaves

The Archaic Warm Greaves are one of the first pieces of armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that Link will have access to. This is because they can be found on the Great Sky Island when completing the initial tutorial shrines. As expected through their name, they increase Cold Resistance for Link, which will be useful for one of these first shrines. They will be found in a chest on the ground near the Gutenbac Shrine, up against some roots.

2 Snowquill Armor Set

The Snowquill Armor Set is one of the few full three-piece sets that increase Link’s Cold Resistance. It includes the Snowquill Headdress, Tunic, and Trousers. Luckily, unlike many armor sets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, all the pieces will be found together instead of scattered over the map. Additionally, Link will not need to battle tons of enemies to obtain them as they must be bought. All three will be found at the shop in Rito Village, with the Headdress being 650 Rupees, the Tunic being 500 Rupees, and the Trousers being 1,000 Rupees.

1 Frostbite Armor Set

The Frostbite Armor set is one that, rather than increasing Link’s Cold Resistance, this armor set actually does something better; it raises his attack power in cold weather. While this may not seem imperative, several chilly areas are on the map with strong enemies waiting. If Link is already warmed through another piece of Armor or one of the many recipes in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, equipping a portion of this set is a great way to tack on a damage boost. Unfortunately, unlike the Snowquill armor set, Link cannot purchase this set nor find all the pieces in the same location.

However, even though they will not all be located in the same place, this does not mean that they will be on opposite ends of the map in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom either. All three pieces will be around the Hebra Mountains and Rito Village. To find the Frostbite Headdress, players will need to head to the Hebra Mountains and track down the Lake Kilsie Cave. For the Frostbite Shirt, Link will need to trek south of the Rito Village to the Brightcap Cave. Finally, for the Frostbite Trousers, Link will have to look in the Hebra Headspring Cave. Each of these pieces will be in a chest at the end of the cave, and as expected, Link will need to battle through some enemies in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom first.
