Creative Assembly has announced Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition, an updated version of the classic strategy game that includes all previously released DLC, visual improvements, modernized controls, and several new features. It launches soon, and existing owners of the original game can get the Complete Edition at a massive 75% discount.

If you own the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 on Steam, you’ll automatically get 75% off the Complete Edition at launch. The discount will be available from October 13, 2026, until November 12, 2026, giving you roughly a month to grab the updated version for around $10.

Total War: SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition includes the following new and existing content:
- All associated DLC, including Rise and Fall of the Samurai.

Total War: SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and GOG for £34.99 / €39.99 / $39.99.
On Steam, the Complete Edition will also include the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 and its associated DLC, excluding the Blood Pack due to age-rating restrictions. Purchases on the Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and GOG will include only the Complete Edition.
The original Total War: SHOGUN 2 will no longer be available to purchase as a standalone game on Steam from September 28, 2026. However, existing owners will keep the game in their libraries and can continue playing it as normal. Existing Steam owners will also receive any legacy DLC they don’t already own at no additional cost.
Will Existing Total War: SHOGUN 2 Mods Work With the Complete Edition?
No. Mods made for the original version of Total War: SHOGUN 2 will not be compatible with the Complete Edition. The updated version launches with integrated mod support through Mod.io, so you will need to use mods designed for the Complete Edition. Mods for the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 will remain unchanged.

Total War: SHOGUN 2 is regarded as one of the best titles in the series, and a modern update to polish it up is exactly the kind of official support it deserves. It’s a classic in every sense of the word, and I’m glad the package includes the original, so even if you aren’t a fan of the changes, you can always fall back on the original.
