Tom Holland is returning to the West End! This time as a leading man. Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
When Holland took to Instagram yesterday February 5 to tease a big announcement, he sent the internet into it’s usual speculative tizzy. The Spider-Man actor had fans guessing that he was about to announce the news of the latest Spider-Man film, but what he revealed is far from it and something quite incredible.
Tom Holland will star in Jamie Lloyd’s new stage adaption of ‘ROMEO & JULIET’ for the West End. His pulsating new vision of Shakespeare’s immortal tale of wordsmiths, rhymers, lovers and fighters will storms London’s West End for a strictly limited run starting May 2024.
Holland has proven that when it comes to his acting he is far more that simply Superhero material. Having starred in numerous blockbusters and the most recent series “The Crowded Room“, all that have given him the chance to not only grow as an actor but to experiment with different genres and see exactly how versatile he is as a performer.
This won’t be his first time onstage. Holland made his debut performance at the West End’s Victoria Palace Theatre in June 2008. He starred in Billy Elliot the Musical as Michael Caffrey Billy’s best friend. The show ran for two years.
His acting has evolved significantly since then with him becoming a hugely successful movie star. However Shakespeare is a whole other ball game. Holland will have to up his game significantly for this role.
He captivated us as Peter Parker, Lucas (The Impossible), Arvin (Devil all The Time), Cherry (Cherry) and Danny (The Crowded Room) and now, Tom Holland is about to break our hearts as Romeo Montague.
