Timothée Chalamet & Zendaya In First Look – Deadline

Warner Bros/Legendary Entertainment has dropped the first official trailer for Dune: Part Two, the second film in filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s star-studded sci-fi series.

The pic, which hits theaters Nov 3, sees Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, and Charlotte Rampling return to the franchise with new cast members Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Lea Seydoux, Christopher Walken, Tim Blake Nelson and more.

The sequel explores the journey of Paul Atreides (Chalamet) as he unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Legendary shared the first trailer last week at Cinemacon in Las Vegas during the Warner Bros presentation with Zendaya, Chalamet, and Villeneuve onstage.

“She’s not just in dreams this time,” Zendaya said on stage about her character Chani. “I only got a small time to find out who she was [in Part One]. … These are still two young people who are trying to grow up, fall in love and leave, being a warrior for your people.”

Villeneuve added that Butler, a new cast addition, plays a swashbuckler who also is a crazy killer. Lea Seydoux, also joining the cast, is bringing a mysterious character to the screen.

Part Two is an epic war movie, much more dense,” Villeneuve said. “We visited Arakis. We visit new locations; everything is new in the film. In the first movie, we shot 40% in Imax — this time it’s full Imax.”

The first Dune movie, though in theaters and HBO Max, was one of Warners’ highest-grossing pics that year, making $108.3M domestic and $402M worldwide. It won six Oscars and notched a Best Picture nomination.
