This Week’s Horror Releases: 18th September

Looking for something new to watch this week? Here’s a list of all of this week’s new horror releases across cinemas and the main VOD platforms. We’ll also give you a quick run down of what came out last week, in case you missed anything!

VOD Releases

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster (2023)

Shudder, from Friday 22nd September. Dir: Bomani J. Story. Starring: Chad L. Coleman, Denzel Whitaker, Laya DeLeon Hayes.

Vicaria is a brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal murder of her brother, she embarks on a dangerous journey to bring him back to life.

The Crescent (2017)

Shudder, from Monday 18th September. Dir: Seth A Smith. Starring: Danika Vandersteen, Woodrow Graves, Terrance Murray.

After an unexpected death in the family, a mother and son struggle to find spiritual healing at a beachfront summer home.

A Haunting in Venice

In Cinemas from Friday 15th September. Dir: Kenneth Branagh. Starring: Kenneth Branagh, Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan.

In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer.

El Conde (2023)

Netflix, from Friday 15th September. Dir: Pablo Larraín. Starring: Alfredo Castro, Catalina Guerra, Paula Luchsinger.

Centres on Augusto Pinochet who is not dead but an aged vampire. After living 250 years in this world, he has decided to die once and for all.

Knock at the Cabin (2023)

Now TV, from Friday 15th September. Dir: M. Night Shyamalan. Starring: Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge.

While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.

The Ones You Didn’t Burn (2022)

Shudder, from Wednesday 13th September. Dir: Elise Finnerty. Starring: Nathan Wallace, Jenna Rose Sander, Estelle Girard Parks.

After their father passes away, two siblings return to their old family farm to sell off the land. However, darker forces may be at play that will force them to reanalyze their relation to their ancestor’s land.
