The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has launched to critical acclaim. The latest title in Nintendo’s iconic, exclusive series has been heaped with effusive praise from critics, garnering a 96 on Metacritic, catapulting the newly released action adventure game to frontrunner status in “game of the year” conversations. However, while critics are nearly unanimous in their adoration for Tears of the Kingdom, what do fans think? Let’s find out, as we look at the recently revealed Metacritic user score data for the newest The Legend of Zelda game, and compare it to Breath of the Wild, the previous entry in the series.
What Do Fans Think of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
As of this writing, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has received an 8.6 user score based on 1,026 ratings. Unlike the the critic scores, which evaluate games with a grade up to 100, the audience ratings on Metacritic are recorded on a ten point scale. Ultimately, this signifies that Metacritic’s users are somewhat less positive than critics about Tears of the Kingdom, but the game has received an undeniably positive reception across the board. Furthermore, it is very likely that the audience score will continue to fluctuate (in both directions) in the coming days, as unlike critics, many gamers have only been playing Tears of the Kingdom for a few days, and will continue to share their opinions on the new Nintendo Switch title.
