The Flash Synopsis Offers Further Details Regarding DC Multiverse Mash-Up

Following the release of this weekend’s action-packed trailer for The Flash, a detailed synopsis has now been revealed, and it offers further information regarding the upcoming DC movie multiverse mash-up. Coming courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, the new synopsis reveals a little more detail about the return of Michael Shannon as General Zod, Barry’s initial time-traveling mission, and declares that The Flash will reset the DC universe. Check out the synopsis below.

“Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash, Ezra Miller as another version of Barry Allen aka The Flash, Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, and Michael Keaton as the Tim Burton version of Bruce Wayne aka Batman.

The Flash Trailer Revealed Michael Keaton’s Batman Return

Warner Bros. Pictures

One of the most exciting elements of The Flash is the return of Batman and Batman Returns star Michael Keaton as an aged version of Bruce Wayne. A role that the actor has not played for more than 30 years. The first trailer for The Flash, which was finally released this weekend as part of Super Bowl Sunday, gave us our first look at Keaton’s Batman Return. And fans could not get enough.

Once again sporting a rubbery cowl and with a yellow Bat-Symbol emblazoned across his chest, Keaton steps towards to the audiences in order to mutter this immortal line: “I’m Batman.” What follows is no doubt just a tease of what’s to come from this comeback, as Keaton’s Dark Knight leaps down upon his enemies, dispatching them with a mixture of grace, ease, and brutality. So, while it is a Flash movie, you can bet a lot of people will be queuing up just to see more of Batman.

The Flash is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 16, following many, many, many delays over the years. So many, in fact, that The Flash first went back into production all the way back in 2015. Here’s hoping that it was worth all that waiting…
