The Flash is still a few months away from its premiere, but details continue to emerge. Andy Muschetti announced a few days ago that the film was officially finished after nine years of development, four directors, a pandemic, multiple delays, conflicts with its protagonist, and changes at DC.
Ezra Miller’s long-awaited solo debut as Barry Allen, adapting the popular Flashpoint story arc from the comics, hits theaters this June, and it’s packed with some surprises. And no, we are not talking about the cameos, references, and post-credit scenes that the next DC movie may include.
The Motion Picture Association (via One Take News) confirmed that The Flash would be suitable for people over 13 years of age and not for all audiences, something that was speculated. But that’s not all. The reason for receiving the PG-13 label is that the film contains high doses of violence and action, strong or explicit language, as well as partial nudity.
Thanks to this, the film would be aligned with its origin since it was born as part of Zack Snyder’s vision of the DC universe, whose three prominent films were also classified as PG-13. In fact, Batman v Superman has an extended version that was rated R.
What to Expect from The Flash
Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel through time and change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry is trapped in a reality where General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no superheroes to turn to.
In this new reality, he will have to bring a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… even if it is not the one he is looking for. Ultimately, to save the world he finds himself in and return to the present he knows, Barry’s only hope is to run for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to restart the universe?
Beyond Miller’s return as the titular hero, Ben Affleck will make an appearance as Batman in a few action sequences. And he won’t be the only Dark Knight, as Michael Keaton also dons the caped suit again to save the day.
Sasha Calle will make her debut as Kara Zor-El in a world without Superman, and we will have to wait to find out if she will be in charge of continuing to give life to the character in the future DCU, which has already confirmed the film adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
